From the stories I have heard, Chance is a big Sea Shanty fan, and at the time they were big on Tik Tok, and Chance brought the idea to the other gents. At first they rebuffed him, but he insisted. Now they thank him everyday I'm sure, as that song is now their top viewed song and has made them all a LOT of money on their ad revenues on UA-cam. It also has given them a great song in their concerts that the audience loves. Bloody good on you Chance
Chance is a modern day Portuguese fisherman. Rob is a Cape Fodder fisherman. Adam is Prince Eric from Little Mermaid. Austin is Sinbad/7 Seas. and Tim is Jack Sparrow. No one there is normal lol
With Home Free you can always expect great music, wonderful voices, and lots of talent. They are not necessarily pirates, but sailors from all eras. Shanties were sailors' work songs, as well as a way to fight boredom.
Chance is dressed like a west coast sailor, Rob is dressed like a east coast sailor, Adam is the sailor from Little Mermaid, Austin is a regular pirate and Tim is Jack Sparrow.
Chance is actually dressed like a character in “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” which is a Wes Anderson movie. So a more modern take on a “sailor”. And the instrument Adam is doing you were thinking of are castanets.
How good are these guys? The fun & energy in this is infectious. This was done during quarantine so none of the guys were even together. The editing of this was great & was done in the Tik Tok style. Love all the guys parts, with Chance starting first, then Rob & Tim's rumbling bass underlying it all. Austin is in the red outfit. Adam's beatboxing is phenomenal as always including sea swells & castanets. Amazing how he increased the tempo from one song to another. They do this medley of songs in their live concerts.
Hi. This was during shut down. In fact Tim did his part of the video in his brother-in-laws (I think) yard, standing in a boat. Thats why he wasn't moving much. Yeah apparently Tim and Austin have full pirate gear at home. Chance did have a whale shirt on. The instrument Adam Rupp was imitating are castinets, and he was spot on as usual. Enjoyed your reaction. I'll be back!!
CHANCE HAS A GREAT VOICE AND FILLS IN FOR TIM..so he can go deep.. the song they sing i love it "cover me up" really shows off chance... great reaction
Believe it or not. Prior to joining Home Free, Tim was a grade school teacher. Rob, was a bartender. And Austin was a cruise ship theatrical performer.
The HF guys showing their creativity once again: the TikTok format to manage their separation during quarantine ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ Tim staying so still to keep from falling out of the boat he's standing in--it makes me laugh because every time I see him in this I think of the animated pirate dolls in Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean. 😆 And those castanets!! Adam Rupp's percussion and sound effects are second to none!! 🥰
Yes, you’re right, this was during Covid so they were all at their individual homes for this. Tim didn’t move much as he was standing in a boat. Loved his lows. Austin had musical theater training in college…could you tell? Ha!😄 Chance has a beautiful voice…smooth. Yeah some went whole hog on the pirate theme…others not so much. Try I Can’t Outrun You, Yours to hear more of Chance in the lead. He is a huge fans of sea shanties and brought the idea to the boys. Loved it and your reaction so I subscribed. 😍
There's a fairly recent LIVE version of this that is just FANTABULOUS. You might also want to check out the shanty (if you haven't) that Chance WROTE for Ubisoft game co. called "Skull and Bones".
Shanties are more about sailors in general and not specifically pirates. They are mostly work songs and most of them are from the wood and sail era, but not all of them. The old ships had almost no mechanization, so synchronized hauling by dozens of men at once of deadly heavy loads was critical. Chance is dressed like a modern day sailor on a fishing boat. Feels like a northwest U.S. salmon boat crew to me, but I could be wrong. Rob's is a little older - maybe early 1900's north east U.S. area. Tim is in fantasy 1800's Caribbean Islands style (Jack Sparrow). Austin looks a bit pirate-y from about the same time (late 1700s and early 1800's) and fits the Mexican wars (independence from Spain and U.S./Mexico) theme of Santianna. I love the sword work and extra gesticulations. Did you hear Adam's Spanish castanets? The crews of the old wood and sail ships were very multi-national, so you got songs with British/Irish and Mexican/Americas history and culture in them on this run. Some not covered in this song would be French, Canadian, Germanic/Prussian, Portuguese and the Mediterranean countries. I hadn't noticed the Scandiwegian/Russian cultures mixing in as much. Probably not many trade routes shared with the British. Commerce makes men go to dangerous and terrifying places.
I love this! I guess you haven't missed their new Sea Shanty written by Chanse? Skull and bones for the game with the same name, it is a must to react to! They are so good ❤
Great reaction! If you like Chance's voice you should listen to him singing with the duo The Hound and the Fox...a really nice collaboration. There's a song on his channel and another on their channel.
This is a very fun song and Tim's bass is ridiculously low. It's one that you can't really help but sing along to. I'd love to see you do a reaction to Lindsey Stirling's song "Shatter Me," featuring Lzzy Hale from Halestorm. I like the video the best as the message she's trying to get across comes across in the visuals. I hope you enjoy it.
If you want soul and you haven't heard Home Free's version of "When a Man Loves a Woman", get ready to have your mind blown 100%! Lol He gave it his all from the first note to the last! Enjoy!! ❤🎶👀💯🔥
Tim is this one uncle who takes Halloween a touch too seriously
(you can't really see it, but mans was standing in a _boat_ this whole time)

Those would be castanets that Adam is doing. Knocks me out every time.

Chance loves sea shanties. So much fun & energy!

This was one of the first quarantine videos.

WORKING FOR A LIVING BY HOME FREE, GREAT FUN
This was so good😍😍I loved the transitions they used
It's okay. You can giggle. Thanks.
WTF = WHAT THE FOUST 😉
They dropped a new video yesterday! 🔥🔥
New song came out from them yesterday!!

LOVE your Home Free reacts! I hope you react to Home Free's One Man Band!! You will LOVE Tim's part!!!
Tim probably has ice tea in his mug as he’s given up on the alcohol!
Austin was totally in creepy pirate character. Tim was Capt. Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. 😄
Check out Chance's solo cover of Wayfaring Stranger which he recorded with the Fox and the Hound.
The instrument you're looking for in "Away santiana" towards the end is the castonet. Light clickers, but very distinct. Great reaction!
Was one of the last songs at the Orlando show last night
😂 Chance! At least he had a whale on his shirt for the 2nd part, lol! But, how great was this? So fun!!!
This is my 5 year olds favourite song. He sings along with them
Castanets and the sound of waves hitting the ship were just a few sounds Adam brought out of his pirates chest.
Adam Rupp was doing "CASTINETTS "
Once you have you get more acquainted with Home free ya need to dive into Tim's solo work and also Tim and Austin colabs!
I love this! I guess you haven't missed their new Sea Shanty written by Chanse? Skull and bones for the game with the same name, it is a must to react to! They are so good ❤
Great reaction! Since you like Tim, check out his rendition of (Misty Mountains) with Peter Hollens. Tim's bass will melt you lol..
Great reaction! If you like Chance's voice you should listen to him singing with the duo The Hound and the Fox...a really nice collaboration. There's a song on his channel and another on their channel.
Yes, they are awesome together. I love Wayfaring Stranger. I love his voice also.

CASTINETTS
The sound is Castanets or clackers. They’re Spanish. Maracas origins are Mexican.
WFT=What the Foust as some calls it in the chats.
Imagine what Tim's backyard neighbors were thinking?
😂😂😂😂
It's a sea shanty medley, so of course they're dressed as pirates. They probably should have dressed as sailors, but they good great regardless.
you would enjoy tim in 'ring of fire'
Enjoy! : ua-cam.com/video/OGAURWZnGww/v-deo.html&feature=sharec
I should react to Austin and Rob sing opera song, Nessum Dorma.
If I'm not mistaken, Tim quit drinking . It may be tea , he started a tea festest
Do a reaction to Home Free song Man Of Constant Sorrow.
I would suppose as locked down as California was Chance couldn't get a costume
Castanets are the sound you can't name.
❤☠❤
Bro you don't have to pause so often sheesh
👍👍👍🇸🇪😎💕
Not all sailors were/are pirates.
Pirates weren't the only sailors.
Take a look at Helplessly Hopeless, Mayday, When a Man Loves a Woman.
They're called castanets...
You must mean castenets
Castinettes
Castanets
Way too much pausing
Castanets
