Hopefully, not near any Wind Farms. Such wind turbine propellers are the NO-1 KILLER of CA Golden Eagles; and most likely, the major cause of death of CA Condors. Few people understand the massive environmental destruction caused by such "green energy" monsters; where such are set up by corrupt profiteers and whackos. Sad. When will more of We The People come to understand that there is NO SUCH THING as "green energy". We have been sold a bill of goods and have let ourselves be duped ... BIG TIME!
Sure they are a little bit ugly ( really just a tiny small bit almost Invisible 😉 ) but they are really CUTE i love Birds at all👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
They are beautiful awesome birds!! Good luck to 884 and all the other Condours!! Thank you Oregon Zoo staff that dedicate their careers to help this endangered species!!
Im getting a tattoo of a condor the fact the father raises the baby makes me want to get it even more now. BTW I'm sitting in family court getting custody of my daughter
Thank you Oregon Zoo for a job well done with chick #884. Job well done. Your work will never be forgotten especially if she has chicks of her own. I hope this is a huge success story for the future of the California Condor.
I send my sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of you in this effort. It's a shame that some people don't realize just how vulnerable these majestic birds are. Your very hard work in insuring that these birds does not go into extinction, does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Thank you again.
growing up in california, our dad made it a point to take us to see the condors every year 🥰 it was always lovely to see their population growing more and more each year and the land become healthier again under their cleaning!
I looked up this video because I saw a condor at vermillion cliffs yesterday with tags but I dont think it was her :) regardless this warms my heart and im glad to learn about the program, thanks for caring for these animals
Seems to me Oregon Zoo is helping condors a LOT! Saving a species takes a lot of helpers. But what better place for condors than the Grand Canyon? So amazing!
The California Condor is a story of what humans can accomplish once they accept responsibility for their errors, and for correcting those errors. I have seen, in my lifetime, the condors come back from actual, literal extinction. 884 California Condors have come from these efforts. Bravo to Condor #884 for going into the wild! I hope she's happy, healthy and finds a mate to continue the species!💕
it's wonderful that you're doing so much to help these amazing birds! out of curiousity, how do you keep them entertained? do they seem bothered by their inability to ride thermals in captivity, or are they a bit too lazy to notice? it seems like some birds of prey will hardly fly at all if they don't have to, and i'm wondering if condors are like that.
Congratulations! I was wondering if the government shut down is affecting any of the release programs. If so, I think people should know that it's affecting endangered animals as well as the 800,000 gov. employees and the people they serve.
Yeah they're not the prettiest thing you'll ever see but they are gorgeous and heart-touching. Californians are my favorite of condors, condors are my favorite of birds. ❤
Woman said mother condor doesn't know the difference between a 'dummy egg' and a live egg. This is nowhere near true. Birds and chicks communicate through the eggshell just like a human and fetus communicate through the abdominal flesh. A mother bird hears a baby chick right through the shell. They call this a 'pipping' egg and it's sounds attract the brooding parent to be just that much more diligent. Parent bird also turns the egg so that chick is not always laying in same position...
That doesn't sound true. If it were true, then these people wouldn't do it like that. Also, if that's the case, how come farmers are able to trick chickens with fake eggs and it actually works. I've seen chickens brood ping pong balls and at no point do they realize what they're brooding over isn't a real egg.
Been watching the live condor nesting video. I am so worried for them because of the wild fires. Two chicks have died in the fires. Condors please be safe.
4:36 in this day and age why do people have to put that giant tag on a bird (it's so uncomfortable to see image how they feeling about it). Why can't they just print large letters or numbers on their feather?
The numbers not only identify the individual condor, but include a transmitter attached to their wing in order for the biologists to track them and ensure they are safe and thriving. Periodically, the condors are recaptured for a health check up, as lead poisoning is a huge problem as well.
Congratulations to 884 and the Zoo. You kept her safe. May she stay safe.

What a good job from Dad! He rose to the challenge of being a single father.
congratulations Oregon Zoo! You did a great job. Thank you for helping to save the California condor from extinction.
That is a one cute chubby baby fur ball condor and it looks like a turkey
that moment where she is perched on her release enclosure , slowly spreading her wings in preparation to fly off into independence... breathtaking
Just adorably precious 💕💕💕

Bruh idc what she says. That baby is adorable
That makes me happy. Yay 884! Good job dad!
was wonderful to watch her launch her maiden flight. I'm curious about why her wingtag reads V4 instead of 84 upon release?
One egg per year. Living and studying Animals is what life is all about. That is a dream job
Beautiful baby
Bless you all
Man, imagine if a butterfingered zookeeper accidentally dropped the one egg 🥚 that a condor would lay for 1-2 years. Condor rage activated 😡
They aren't ugly at all
They used to range into oregon too, wish people would reintroduce them there.
they remind me of living dinosaurs
