I'm an amp and pedal guy. I own more amps and pedals than I remember. I'm always opening draws and finding pedals I forgot I had... so why even consider going digital? Well... watch and find out?

Cooper Carter is one of the best guys to learn from. He works with many pro guitarists and knows all of the tricks in the unit.

Mistakes are just opportunities to learn brother. With your ear for music and talent with the instrument I'm sure you'll get it absolutely 100% nailed down in no time. It's sounding great already.

Love your patch! I believe you can put your tuner on any switch, just make it a hold switch to access the tuner. Thanks for your videos!

Yeah, it's an option that I considered, and what I'd do if I decided I want to add another sound to the scenes.

the official forum is a great place for advice if you need it. i've been a user since 2010 and done hundreds of gigs with the ultra, II and III - happy to help if you have questions. i notice you changing mix levels on the delays with your expression pedal - remember that changing mix changes dry level as well as wet level, so its's best to use input gain instead. the envelope controller has it's own gain level in the controllers section, so if you're not hitting 100%, you can boost it in there. the synth block really benefit from either a compressor, or drive block in front to help with getting a consistent level and sustain. it took me a few gigs to iron everything out, it's a completely different paradigm than pedals>amp and can take some getting used to. i skipped through, so i might have missed a couple of things, sorry. export the preset if you want to share it by going preset>export preset. btw, the preset levelling meters are too fast (imo) to be very useful (if you're levelling across several presets), it's better to use something like the level meters in logic, or the waves level meters, which have a 3 second average.

@@LeviClay no worries. remember, as a rule of thumb any fx place in parallel should have their mix levels set to 100% and bypass set to mute in, or mute fx in to avoid the problem you had with the synth block. cheers!

When I've had a Kemper/modeller I've always set them up knowing they'll definitely need tweaking during or post-gig. Something about the "digitalness" that can cause patches to sound impressive setting them up, but they can lose some aspects of that coolness live. Your sounds are great of course 👌🏼

Hey Levi, you can also use a Multiplexer block which allows you to switch rows (when you create forks) depending on the scene, so pretty convenient ☺️ 11:02

Hi Levy, first let me start out by saying that I am firmly in the Fractal camp. I own an FM3 an FM9 and an AXE/FX 3__. I also own a Kemper rack mount just like you. I can tell you without reservation that wall. I will always favor the frontal units, the Kemper in many situations can sound warmer. So I do believe there is a bit of a sound difference between the two units when they try to reproduce the same amp. That does not mean that the Fractal units are inferior. They are just a little bit different, and in my opinion, vastly superior for many reasons. I have gigged with both the three and the nine, and of course the nine is by far how much better unit to gig with. I bought the three before the nine was available. And truth, the nine is what should have been all along. I also on several other modelers as well, including a boss, GT 1000, and a tone X…. Interesting combination is the FM3. With the Tonéx in the effects loop. If you use the tone ask for it, it’s aunt models. It frees up quite a bit of horsepower on the FM three to do all of the FX processing that you really need. This might be an inexpensive way to go for a many players to get a great tone. 🎉just my two cents and feel free to disagree…. Cheers!

Great Video! How many foot controllers do you use and which ones did you purchase? (Fractal FCs or something else? BTW, I loved your sound and especially the synth patch! Thanks!

Levi Clay! I am down with this whole experiment. I remember thinking the your physical envelope filter sounded better than the digital - but I am SURE you can dial in almost any envelope filter sound you could imagine on that thing... right? Closest I've come to this is the Zoom 5050 II - which I love and is my go to at home - often thru my 15" bass amp - the clean sound is great! And there is some weird swirling dynamic volume swell preset that is just my headspace! Anyway... Have fun! I'm along for the ride!

The envelope filter is the one sound I’m not even nearly happy with, but I have a lot more time to tweak it!

I used a Source Audio Spectrum for envelope filter, 0r my 80’s Boss t-wah TW-1. There are a few effects I couldn’t get with the Axefx3 and used pedals. I run a Synergy Syn 2 preamp for my amp tones, I still like tubes in the chain.

Laughed out loud when you queued up the Curb theme song. Great stuff. Not sure why amp guys have to be so butthurt about modeling being great these days. I still love having both options (tube amp and modeler) at my disposal.

You will never get the exact sound from an Fractal FM9 setup and playback system vs a real amp and pedal board. It's just two different things. Both can sound good but really not the same. You can get closer to the real amp/cab if you use a real guitar cab + neutral amp and do not use a cab block in the FM9. Trying to use an FRFR set up and a cab block in the FM9 will not be the same. You will also not save much in moving the amount of gear to a live gig unless you are just playing thru a house PA etc. So the advantages of using an FM9 comes down to more or less using it to replace your pedal board.

Your idea of crunch & mine, two different things!
Also a Quad Cortex wouldn't give you any of those problems to begin with. (Just saying!ĺ

I prefer to use real cabinets and, to your point, the modeler should handle it. A mic on a cabinet is a real-world scenario -

Great video. I saw recently Justin Dericco (pink guitarist) just moved his live rig to axe fx. @coopercarter helped him out.
Also a session guitarist called billycampbell did Thea same but I think he did it on his own like you.
