When we last saw Beth, she had just shot Rio as he was beating up Agent Turner. Now that he's out of the picture, she's ready to run the game and stay in control. The women take on seemingly innocent jobs - Beth in a stationary store, Ruby in a nail salon and Annie as a valet - each with a special purpose to aid them in their new criminal enterprise. What happens as they expand their operation will have a ripple effect with their families. Meanwhile, Stan's taken a job in security at a strip club and Dean is working sales at a spa company. From Executive Producer Jenna Bans ("Grey's Anatomy," "Scandal") comes the third season of this comedy-infused drama that mixes a little "Thelma & Louise" with a bit of "Breaking Bad." There is one thing for certain, Christina Hendricks knows how to tell a story with those eyes of hers. She's got the eye movement action, and Manny Montana has got the stare thing going on. They both do a lot of acting with their eyes.

So after watching this episode for a second time a few things became clearer to me. First of all Rio has been talking about her to his family. That’s why his brother (cousin) said “I heard a lot about you” and then when she said “ it’s just Beth” he was like “ok.. Elizabeth” and gave Rio a look. Well we all know Rio is the only one that calls her Elizabeth. So he’s clearly been gushing about her to his fam and they know he really likes her.
Also that possessive move Rio made when he put his hand on her back was very telling.
And the last thing in his grandma’s bedroom.. when Beth asked Rio “what is all this?” when they were looking at his pictures he said “family” and soon after told her that basically family and business is the same thing. Well it was also interesting that after Rio told her they wanted to make sure she was good enough Beth asked him if they wanted to make sure if she was good enough for him he immediately said “for business”... We can assume now he meant for both especially after the family teasing at the dinner table.

Ohhhh that’s why she got up reall quick, I thought she just couldn’t handle him touching her but it could have been she got too nervous about him finding the wire so she tried to get rid of it.
When the brother/cousin called her Elizabeth and he put his hand on her back, she knew what was going to happen. That's why she got rid of the wire. It was only a matter of time before it happened again. If Rio would stop trying to ruin her life I think she would leave Dean. But it's tricky bc she has kids.

They are losing momentum. And the fan's want a happy ending, not for Rio to die/go to jail. The fan base wants these 2 to be together and happy, even if they are going to continue this dirty business they are in. The chemistry and potential for Brio, outweighs the need for a realistic storyline that ends with one of them dead. Too many great tv series end up a meandering mess that goes and goes and ends up flat and predictable. I think Rio is more than just a gangster hoodlum. I think he may be undercover on a deep level. But this theory remains to be seen. As of yet anyway....
But I think they should really bring us more than what we have seen so far. Fan's are restless and ready for something unexpected. Something good but unexpected. That's for sure 💯🐈⬛

While I get that people enjoyed Brio this episode. I was kind of disappointed because she is still trying to set him up. It is also kind of hard to root for a ship when she never showed any sort of feelings towards Rio, she shot him 3 times, hired a hitman and then now starts ratting him out to the Secret Service and bugged his grandmas house. I kind of miss the old Brio with their powerplay, now they kind of mad him all pussywhipped and dumb at the expense of Beth and it looks like he will show some jealousy with this Nick guy. Why can't the writers finally give Beth some backbone and have her acknowledge what she has become? At this point the ship is just really one sided, with one character again getting what she wants. I gotta say unless he is playing Beth or trying to guilt her I don't like whipped Rio at all. He has no reason to trust her at all yet brings her to his grandmothers house. She shot him and they havent even discussed it but he is perfectly fine being partners with her. Also can't really enjoy anything Brio with her still going ehind his back so Dean can ride his bike ugh.
I feel like Rio always have an angle. And yes in reality bet would of dead already if he didn’t care for her. But I still believe he don’t trust her and everything he’s doing is just a test. I think he wants to switch up the approach with her by letting her into his life a little bit more, in hopes that wall make her change your mind about snitching if she was planning on snitching. I completely believe he doesn’t know for sure what she’s up to but he has is intuitions. Maybe his whole family know what’s going on with what he does and he generally wanted her to meet them, who knows🤷🏾♀️
I absolutely agree with you. I think that’s why I’m allowing the show to complete the season before I continue to watch it because I’m disappointed. Beth hasn’t grown and Rio is as you said whipped. I’m just going to wait it out

I believe the actress playing the grandmother is the same person that played the mother of a gangbanger in the series Graceland. Where ironically enough, Manny Montana (Rio) played an undercover FBI agent posing as a gangbanger to infiltrate the family. If you think she appears scary in this, she told her son to cut off his girlfriend's head because she cheated on him.

Hmm, this is the first time I've genuinely felt that Beth has the upper hand. Rio let his guard down and seems to genuinely care for Beth (which she doesn't fully reciprocate). As the female lead, I see this story heading in the direction of her outmaneuvering Rio and using his tactics...the student becomes the teacher plot
She has had the upper hand a few times. Remember he said if you want to be king you have to be willing to do certain things. I think he sees her as a challenge and enjoys it when she has gotten the upper hand, but Rio is nobody's fool. The best upper hand move was when they had had sex at her house and afterwards she gave him the money and told him she was done. Then to top it off, she told him to leave and that she was going to take a shower. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was genuinely pissed at the realization that he had just been used for sex. As a man, I am relatively certain that he thought he had her under his thumb after that. That scene could have been drawn out a little longer by focusing on what he was thinking to himself. She was trying to walk away because clearly her children were more important. I believe that may have been when he found her in the park and told her he had tried calling and she said that she had blocked his number.

Sometimes, I wish this show got picked up by HBO, Showtime or Netflix. Because I feel like, on networks/platforms like those, the writers room could do more, make different, grittier, more daring choices.
I love these scene and Manny Montana and Christina Hendricks are great acting partners. I'm just really sceptical of how the writers and producers will handle their storyline on a broadcast channel like NBC.

The story did not progress and we didn’t learn Anything of substance about Rio’s family. They talked about Beth the whole time. I know they are trying to appease team Brio but some of us just want a good crime show. And I in no way care about them screw-ing unless Manny Montana is showing us some skin. He was VERY angry and was "close mind" with Elizabeth like season 3 like he don't trust her anymore. Here, he kept watching Elizabeth with smiles like a good friend, every seconds during this entire dinner with his family he was "opened mind" like before season 1 and 2. And he doesn't seem to be the kind of person who slept with his ennemy just after that but with someone who is close to him enough. And, remember when he touch his shoulder ??? All of scenes when he touch Elizabeth it's when she was very close to him , and he want to show off his feeling for some way, she finally had back his trust. For example , when she talk about the feds after him , he win her trust again and he smiles a lot when she turned to look in her bag , and looks at her like the firsts seasons touch her shoulder back ! It's everytime the same way ! In fact he suspects but it's not Rio i'm affraid off. Rio try to show his feelings every time and everytime he do the mistake to open up , trust her a little and try to teach her and BAM she betray him and he become "close mind" again. It's Beth who betray him , try to kill him, feds and everything. And like a little girl it's everytime when Rio said "it's just business" she is an idiot. Because he had lot of occasions to kill her but he never does he prevent her when feds wants the books ! If we need to worry it's for Beth . She was quite happy when she thinks Rio dead, she want again betray him. And she never show her feeling really with him. But maybe she wants Rio to assume his feelings like "really" for she realize he doesn't play with her. It's "just not business" and maybe something will "really" change. But it's annoying for me , Rio do every steps to show that and not her . I want for once , Beth do the first step!
Just discovered this series last week and have watched all 4 seasons. So sad there will not be more. I am in love with Rio! His character, chemistry is the most powerful I have ever seen on TV. I may have to watch all 4 seasons again
You've got to be kidding me. Hiding the wire on the bookshelf was beyond stupid. This show is really ticking me off - the writing has been so poor the last couple of seasons. I don't even watch it when it airs anymore. I think people are reading FAR too much into this. I do not believe that the writers are writing a Brio romance.
Right! 💯 percent agree. I think they are trying to give a little Brio because that’s what the fans want but it is just not interesting here. This is not Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the writers are short changing us if they go in that direction when they know good and well the end game is NOT for them to be together . It’s unrealistic and it’s becoming too teeny bopper 🙄. I want to see more crime, suspense and comedy. Wasted episode
If there was no Beth and Rio story line there would be no show. He has been there from the beginning. Even in the first episode you could feel these two characters had chemistry. This a cat and mouse story. This a comedy mixed with a lot of drama.

I think they should do like a heated argument where they let it all out and maybe Beth will finally confess a feelings for rio.

People are so worried about Brio and not being realistic with the overall show.

I love that she saw his softer side here and more of who he was and what made him tick. She always saw him with guys he controlled. She never saw him with people where he wasn’t in charge fully. I loved that we saw this softer side to him. And had hoped Beth would change course and soften with him. What I had hoped for in this was actually a well calculated long game. That she seeing him in his element with his guard down and seeing this side of him would have softened her to him so she would team with him and brother/cousin to do a long game plan with the Secret Service. Purposely getting caught and turning him in with her specifically knowing Nick would get him out. So she looks clean and like she’s specifically working with them but knowing nothing would stick anyway. So they get off her back. They missed a chance to solidify this, because it was as though they set it up for this possibility 99% (including with his and her 1:1 discussion in the car after they were at the bank vault) and then they pivoted last minute. Had her legit turn him in and then be all surprised he got out. I loved seeing the softer Rio and the kid who just wanted to be a fighter and try to do things right.
This may be random but I would love to see more grandmother/boss screen time. This show literally made her look like rio/manny’s real grandmother. I mean you could see the resemblance. Or maybe it’s just me.
