Would love to do this myself for my car. I want to keep my stock no lsd diff. I just would not even know where to begin and here I hard to find a differential rebuild shop.
Your homemade pinion depth tool gives correct shim size based on calculation? To me here it does not look accurate enough because I calculate using the numbers you have shown here.
Hello, you can calculate the height of the washer mounted under the shaft bearing from the formula given in the differential repair manual, and this is a theoretical value. Based on the measurement, you get the actual value, so you have a correction on the shaft (+2, i.e. +0.002 mm) in my case. You use the theoretical value, the actual value and the correction for further calculations and you get the actual size of the washer that you need to install. My measuring tool is a copy of the original BMW tool and provides an accuracy of +-0.001mm. The tool is only needed to very precisely measure the distance of the shaft from the rotation axis of the satellite basket. You won't be able to measure it accurately without this tool.
@@krzysztoflalik4027 From video I see +2 so that is +0.02 9.02 standard value so 9.02+0.02=9.04 So what do you measure with your tool? I am just saying from side profile it look not accurate but perhaps it is. I can't tell reading from video.

Super video! I will try to follow your method and replace the bearings in TYPE 188 from E34 525
Beautiful work. Bravo!!👏
Muy bueno el video. Hubiese sido ideal detener la cámara rápida y agregar una breve explicacion del uso de los instrumentos
