Actually, today I played with my friends World Tour for a while, which is my fav GH. I haven´t stopped playing GH since it's release and I will play it as long as I have access to the instruments. Off course Clone Hero is a huge contribution to the gaming too. I have tons of songs and I sometimes sync the original video clips to the song, which is waaaaay too cool to play it like that. I´m a die hard fan of this games and I don´t see myself quitting any time soon
Seeing those cutscenes and videos from legends of rock were so nostalgic and really brought me back to my younger days when I would play the shit out of it for hours on end
Guitar hero got me interested in playing a real guitar, so what i did to get myself motivated to practice the guitar was RockSmith, and its actually real fun, much more than GH
@@TheClassicWorld dont get it either, playing on clone hero is like 10 times easier than console and especially the earlier ones. N8t the same feeling either
@@Lynk713 Can't beat the feeling of the classic GH2 on PS2 or the GH3 guitar on PS3/Xbox 360. So great. Personally, I mostly play GH3 on Xbox 360 now. Though I do own about 15 GH/RB games in total and 7 guitars (from PS2 to Wii, and the Beatles guitar, as well, which feels great and different). I think Guitar Hero 2 is one of my most played video games of all time. Loved it ever since I first got into it around 2007 or whatever. I even love the DS version (from around the same time), though it is pretty easy and gets boring if you're inside -- may as well play console. It was great with friends and when outside. Still, love the series, for sure, and would never trade it for Clone Hero or anything. Nice to see a classic console-user here. :)
My favourite was always Rock Band 2. Was in my 2nd year of University, going round my girlfriends house with her housemates, all playing the different instruments, all getting good enough so at least someone could do one instrument on expert. Downloading loads of songs, customizing the band. I really had fun with Guitar Hero 3 as well but there's something extra about the "band" experience. I dusted off my old copy of Rock Band 2 recently to take round my friends for their kids to play and to them it's all new stuff, they're loving it. The games are still extremely fun, it is a shame they got crazily over saturated and died off. I would love a new Rock Band or Guitar Hero with the full band to come out that just had hundreds of songs already included, revisit those classics. Some fantastic memories with those games.
i still have my ps2 and all the guitar hero games (up until guitar hero 3) still plays perfectly and it’s so addicting once again. i’m so glad we never got rid of all the games like so many people did. the nostalgia is real.
Congrats for the vid man, just one thing: you forgot to mention one guitar hero: guitar hero smash hits, which has launched for ps3 and xbox 360 and promised to have the best guitar hero 1,2 and 3 songs. It's more a Guitar Hero World Tour dlc, but I like to play guitar hero 1 and 2 songs on it, because I only have ps3, so I like to play Cowboys from hell, Bark at the moon and more GH 1 and 2 classics on it.
I liked guitar hero live, I got it soon after it came out and enjoyed the fresh guitar setup. It was a new challenge that I appreciated especially since half a decade earlier I was playing gh3 on expert as an elementary schooler. I didn’t mind playing the radio songs to get points to pick the songs I played. The main things I didn’t like were the controllers whose strum bars always broke and the fact that there was no practice mode. Many years later I’ve picked up clone hero and it’s better than any guitar hero game I’ve played in the past, which was all of them by the way.
I'll tell you what happened to Guitar Hero. It was initially targeting an older, heavier base. Black Sabbath, Slayer, etc. When Activision purchased it, they had this bright idea of aiming to younger, mainstream bases, compare the setlists from GH1-2-3 and the following, GH5, Band Hero, GH Live, these last ones have lighter and more "pop-ish" songs that don't call to the consolidated fandom of GH, BRO KATY PERRY IS NOT SOMETHING TO PLAY ON A GUITAR FFS, WE PLAY ROCK AND HEAVY METAL ON A GUITAR. When Activision realized that they have bet on the wrong horse, they did the same crap they did to Singstar, close the servers that enabled people to have the chance to play the songs they were actually hoping to get, and kill the game. Now, people like me that played GH from the first game until the Guitar control/Controller allowed, can't even play it, or can barely do it because they are no longer fabricated, leaving us it secondhanded options that rarely function, and that makes me very sad because I really loved the game...
I believe it was on GH1 engine, as the HOPO's were a lot more strict than GH2. And it was released quickly due to the purchase of RedOctane, so Harmonix had to get it out before they were separated to Rock Band franchise.
I have guitar hero III installed on my PC still, just like GTA San Andreas. They're not the best games but they are perfect in what they provided If they remade GTA San Andreas with the current graphics and GHIII with like all the songs you can think off, I'd really buy that
Oek Foh clone hero is basically that for free. You do need to look up tutorials on how to add songs because because it only has a couple built-in songs. But if you want easy way to add some songs I’ll just say a small tutorial. First go to the clone hero spreadsheet (I’ll post a link to it when I get to a computer) you can download a lot of songs off of it, and you can download different setlists with most of the guitar hero Games songs available to download. Then you just need to put the Files in the songs folder. That is in the clone hero folder when you download it. One of the main downsides of clone hero that turned away some people is that there aren’t background graphics but if you just want to Play a good guitar hero game, you should download clone hero. Make sure to look up tutorials to figure out how to set up the game. I hope you see this.
The recent World Tour mod has made me get into GH again, shits fun. Even with the ridiculous shit you can do like adding Luigi from Mario and making him sing Bohemian Rhapsody has breathed some nice fresh air into the game, at least for me.
I was born way too late.. god i wish i was born in the 90s and not 2006. it seemed fun to live during this era. I still play guitar hero III on the PS2 today. I raised myself well.
I think one of the things that made GHL fail so hard was pushing the background visuals. I guess they didn't realize that people usually care more about the gameplay, and not for what's happening in the back. Hence a lot of people just disabled them through mods and external configs (and also to get rid of the 60 fps lock).
Unpopular opinion: Warriors of Rock is the best guitar hero game. It has Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and Uprising by Muse along with probably having the best interface and graphic style. Plus it has all 4 instruments and each of them work as smooth as ever.
Agreed. I think it plays the best out of all the official games, the setlist was awesome (especially with the import DLC from other games), the quest mode was cool, online was better than before, you could play two or more of the same instrument on co-op, etc.
For me, the top three are Legends Of Rock, GH5 and Warriors Of Rock. They had the most polished mechanics, the most content, and the best graphics and character models!
Not to mention the guitar that came with GH2 was the best on ever released. Kept it through the entirety of my "career", bought half a dozen more in between and none were as good as that one. Also, impulse was the best song ever put on any guitar hero, change my mind.
I had guitar hero 3 while my brothers and cousins had the original and GT2 and I remember coming home for lunch in elementary just to play it and practise through the fire and flames lmfao good times
GH3 was my first guitar hero game, LOVED it, World Tour was awesome and I went nuts customizing characters, and I really liked Warriors of Rock because you gotta love those character tf's. I got Live, and while I liked the realism, those controls, man.. not the same
honestly rock band 1 was my favourite. I loved everything about it, including the campaign mode and saving up dollars for crazy looking outfits and instruments.
I used to play GH2 on PS2. And I just bought a guitar and GH 5 and 6 and also Rockband 2 and 3. Can't wait to play it all again! Was really difficult to find a guitar with the USB dongle and not too expensive...
I’d dreaded clicking on this video because I thought it was literally just gonna be a slideshow of guitar hero gameplay, but this was actually really cool. Gj.
Well, they made GH with GH 3, right? How did they ruin it if they made GH 3? Also, the other fellows went off and made Rock Band which is much worse (although drums and keyboard are great).
Still got Guitar Hero 2&3 with Guitar ditto for Rock Band and all 3 game , I also have 2 DJ hero Turn Table with DJ hero 1&2. I loved these back in the day and they will be fun to go back and use again over the years as funny time capsules.
I remember sitting on the couch eating chicken biscuits watching my dad play the game and now after several years im out here beating all of his Highscores
I think it started to get over-saturated for me when they started reusing the same songs just with "updated" charts to the songs Thank god for clone hero !

4 years after this video uploaded I am here to say, Clone hero grew a lot and now lots of these guitars, specifically xbox360 and xbox one versions, are expensive everywhere. Drums too
Since my parents are metalheads, they bought me and my siblings Guitar Hero Metallica for christmas. It‘s now 13 years later and I‘m still playing it, because I am a metalhead myself. Sad to see, how it went downhill. „Sad but True“
The biggest problem warriors of rock had was that the guitar that came with it was garbage. Oversaturation and the trend just dieing out certainly played a major part in it not selling well, but the main problem was reviewers were telling people not to buy it, because the guitar it came with just sucked. And if they couldn't get the controller right, what would make anyone think the game was any good? And honestly that's kinda sad, because warriors of rock was arguably the best in the series. They made a guitar hero that catered to the hard core fans, and those ended up being the only ones that bought it. I bought warriors of rock on release day, and poured thousands of hours into it. Great game. Terrible controller.
It really does suck, BUT. You can actually download every guitar hero live + TV song that's ever been released (and also unreleased songs!) and play them on Clone hero! There's a 6 button mode in the game and it works just fine. Plus it's stupid easy to hook up to your pc, since you can use the xbox 360 GHL dongle no matter what console guitar you have!
Guitar Hero Live was by far the biggest mistake the company made; they got rid of pretty much everything that gave all the other games their charm and made them great, namely, the cool characters and unique venues. Also I have no idea why the rhythm game genre went out of fashion in the first place -- Guitar Hero and Rock Band are two of my favorite series of all time! If a new GH was announced (and they went back to their roots) I'd pre-order it in a second.
I just started playing it after a few years. It was my favorite of all GH games, I even preferred it over RB. I was happy when I found out they were gonna make a new GH but then got sad when it was GH live. It just wasn't the same. They could have just ported over the same graphics from WoR but added new songs. That would have been okay for me.
Let's not forget that a PC RockBand did come out... But it was just RockBand 3 but in VR I guess... And you needed a RockBand 4 controller to play it... It was still a cool idea tho
Legit i remember when Guitar Hero first came out my dad got it randomly on PS2 and man we both spent hours and hours playing I played more than my dad cause I was still a yougin at the time but when Guitar Hero II came out that’s when I dedicated my life to playing this and Rock Band lol man I miss these days tho this is what really brought me and my friends together sadly we don’t talk anymore but man I just miss these days being a teen in this era was the best 💜
"and that was pretty much it for the rhythm genre as a whole" - ignores osu!, beatsaber, geometry dash and a plethora of other (mostly free) games that are thriving
Personally, loved Guitar Hero 1 & 2. But once Rock Band came out, I completely abandoned it for Rock Band, which I just found to be the much better game. Now I have a full RB4 setup and love it. Play almost every day. :)
The console transition during this time really helped guitar hero be fine tuned with its gameplay but the bigger transition mark had to be the switch from cover songs to master recordings.
@MoosieHD Clone Hero has a better engine, better hit detection, use of any chord shapes making for weird ass chords to play. Top that off with making your own highways, making your own image backgrounds, use of video backgrounds, able to change the color of anything if you choose to. Open notes in songs if you want that, a large community. Clone Hero does what Guitar Hero did but better. Want Guitar Hero Live? Just use your Live controller and now you can play any song with 6 frets, even old official songs.
GH 3 on my home console beats Clone Hero because Clone Hero is only on PC and is not a real GH game, right. (Well, in fact, I own almost every GH/RB game and six guitars and the drums).
I only remember playing the original trilogy of Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades for the DS, Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero On Tour for the DS, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Green Day Rock Band, The Beatles Rock Band and Band Hero for the DS

They truly cemented my taste in music and made me a rock and metalhead to this day. Later, playing Rock Band inspired me to get a real drumset. I still have my PS2 set up with GH2, 3, Metallica, and fire them up whenever I get the itch.
To be fair, DJ Hero 2 is still one of my favorite rhythm games hands down
It was soooo good.
U didn't talk about the the guitar hero McDonald's toys
Or the arcade game for that matter. Yep. There's a Guitar hero arcade game.
@@GabbieTheFox I PLAYED THAT! It's what got me into Guitar Hero.
Nostalgia, I still have that laying around somewhere.
@@GabbieTheFox saw one at Dave n Busters and after a few drinks, I played several games on expert. Muscle memory picked up and I was doing really well. A little crowed gathered to watch me play the harder songs. I start talking a little shit on the side, asking anyone to challenge me. Dude that worked for the place comes up all quietly and asks to play once, he scans his employee card so that the game was free. He tells me to pick, so I pick the song I was best at as a kid - literally played this song hundreds of times, had it down pat. He fucking 100%'s the song first try without a hiccup and like doubles my score by star powering at all the right places. Cut me a slice of humble pie real fucking quick lol
I was at an arcade playing it and I wrecked a seventeen year old on Miss Murder
You know you've played too much Guitar Hero when at 1:55 I could recognize the chart as "Cowboys from Hell" by Pantera
Omg dude same
Yes, but Unfortunately in gh1 it was so complicated to hit the hammer on and pull off.
@@Loris_Pisy same with gh metallica (atleast for me)
Hahaha I thought the same thing, when I saw the chart repeat I was like that’s cowboys from hell
Rock Band 4 still release weekly DLC to this day, so I'm glad at least it's still plodding along.
Of it wasn't for guitar hero i would've never tried to play guitar at 9 years old, this game will always be in my memories for giving me one of the best hobbies ever
Same! got me into actually playing guitar!
Guitar hero 3 is so nostalgic for me I love it so much 🥴
Why girl plays these games
AwesomeGaming girls can play any game that a guy plays lmao i love guitar hero

Actually, today I played with my friends World Tour for a while, which is my fav GH. I haven´t stopped playing GH since it's release and I will play it as long as I have access to the instruments. Off course Clone Hero is a huge contribution to the gaming too. I have tons of songs and I sometimes sync the original video clips to the song, which is waaaaay too cool to play it like that. I´m a die hard fan of this games and I don´t see myself quitting any time soon
Yessir world tour is the best metallica one is fun to tho hope u still enjoying this jem
It's really sad that Warriors Of Rock failed miserably, because that's the best Guitar Hero game ever! (Right behind GH3)
IKR
Its even better than GH5!
Don't forget Smash Hits 😉
Agree. So good. Has 2112 and Fury of the Storm, just iconic.
Seeing those cutscenes and videos from legends of rock were so nostalgic and really brought me back to my younger days when I would play the shit out of it for hours on end
2007 was a good time for guitar hero
It was the pinnacle!
Guitar hero got me interested in playing a real guitar, so what i did to get myself motivated to practice the guitar was RockSmith, and its actually real fun, much more than GH
They need to remake one of the original 3 Guitar Hero's...
Hopelazz clone hero..
@@CommonG Clone Hero is not a remake of GH 1-3, so, it doesn't count towards the statement they made and it's only for PC, right.
@@Lynk713 Also, yeah, GH 1 and 2 on PS2 are pretty hard compared to some of the later stuff, for sure.
Remaster guitar hero legends of rocks n people will come back that game was so good

Rock band 2 and 3 had the best online multiplayer. I still play rock band 3 on xbox 360.
Wanna play sometime?
Do you have Rock Band 4?
If you down to play, add me on 360. Kravza. I have 800+ DLC songs
I have 900 dlc and decent at guitar/bass add me if you have dlc too please. Hard ro find people to plsy with.

My gamertag is "Demon Dover". 900 dlc songs. Expert drums.
They should just make a remastered version of GuitarHero 1 2 & 3
For present day hardware :)
Activision milking a franchise of all its worth while simultaneously killing it? Never would’ve guessed.
i still have my ps2 and all the guitar hero games (up until guitar hero 3) still plays perfectly and it’s so addicting once again. i’m so glad we never got rid of all the games like so many people did. the nostalgia is real.

Loved guitar hero 3, still remember my old band name, grey scarf. It was called that because I was wearing... a grey scarf lol
I enjoyed playing guitar hero to my band was called wolfblood
Guitar hero live killed the franchise
Holly shit that game was bad
It was already dead
No guitar hero live spit on the grave
@@RecountDaFox1 no its not lol
Activision did
You missed Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s. That was a demo-type game on the GH2 engine.
I believe it was on GH1 engine, as the HOPO's were a lot more strict than GH2. And it was released quickly due to the purchase of RedOctane, so Harmonix had to get it out before they were separated to Rock Band franchise.
Your channel is underrated and deserves more subscribers
I have guitar hero III installed on my PC still, just like GTA San Andreas. They're not the best games but they are perfect in what they provided
If they remade GTA San Andreas with the current graphics and GHIII with like all the songs you can think off, I'd really buy that
Oek Foh clone hero is basically that for free. I hope you see this.
lol guess you got the definitive edition?

My favourite Guitar Hero was a tie between Guitar Hero 3 and Warriors of Rock, and my favourite Rock Band was Rock Band 3.
Honestly they could have thrived with 1 2 3 and 6 cause those were the best ones
The recent World Tour mod has made me get into GH again, shits fun. Even with the ridiculous shit you can do like adding Luigi from Mario and making him sing Bohemian Rhapsody has breathed some nice fresh air into the game, at least for me.
I really want to see one more guitar hero game for the current generation (or next). Just one more, back to original controls. I’d be happy with that.
Lamar Anderson you should download clone hero
I was born way too late.. god i wish i was born in the 90s and not 2006. it seemed fun to live during this era. I still play guitar hero III on the PS2 today. I raised myself well.
Born 06 as well still have my ride or dies over to play this on 360
I think one of the things that made GHL fail so hard was pushing the background visuals. I guess they didn't realize that people usually care more about the gameplay, and not for what's happening in the back. Hence a lot of people just disabled them through mods and external configs (and also to get rid of the 60 fps lock).
What's crazy is Warriors of Rock is still my favorite Guitar Hero game to this day... It was like a love letter to the dedicated fans
An endless Sporadic. That song is reason to be.

GH live is by far the worst. Should've kept it the same as all the other ones.
honestly rock band 1 was my favourite. I loved everything about it, including the campaign mode and saving up dollars for crazy looking outfits and instruments.

Activision really like to ruin everything it touches, like a "reverse midas touch", just see what it is currently doing to Blizzard
Well, they made GH with GH 3, right? How did they ruin it if they made GH 3? Also, the other fellows went off and made Rock Band which is much worse (although drums and keyboard are great).

I bought so much music because of GH3. Slipknot, DragonForce, Metallica etc
I remember sitting on the couch eating chicken biscuits watching my dad play the game and now after several years im out here beating all of his Highscores
Man, I really wish they would bring back GH, if they did it right it could still be successful, they just tried too hard to innovate with Live
This was a really great video. I was expecting a generic random gameplay clips in a timeline type video, but was pleasantly surprised.
I think it started to get over-saturated for me when they started reusing the same songs just with "updated" charts to the songs
Thank god for clone hero !
So basically around the time that Smash Hits was released.
I remember growing up with gh3 it honestly made me fall in love with the franchise
*I love guitar hero and rockband back in the day and i was really excited in 2015 for the guitar hero live realease and rock band 4 i buy the gh live but*
It wasnt what i expected just it wasnt that funny it was cool at the begining but i get tired very quickly of the game
4 years after this video uploaded I am here to say, Clone hero grew a lot and now lots of these guitars, specifically xbox360 and xbox one versions, are expensive everywhere. Drums too
Unpopular opinion but World Tour is my favorite setlist.
World Tour has Tool songs in it, that automatically makes it the best set List!
nooo
Since my parents are metalheads, they bought me and my siblings Guitar Hero Metallica for christmas. It‘s now 13 years later and I‘m still playing it, because I am a metalhead myself. Sad to see, how it went downhill. „Sad but True“
Guitar hero never died
Meanwhile Fortnite festival is rock band 5 spiritual successor

GH Live was a slap in the face to all the fans. The franchise REALLY ended with Warriors Of Rock!
It was useless trash when they announced 3x2 buttons instead of 1x5

Hearing per-iffy-al was killing me slowly
Guitar Hero Live was by far the biggest mistake the company made; they got rid of pretty much everything that gave all the other games their charm and made them great, namely, the cool characters and unique venues. Also I have no idea why the rhythm game genre went out of fashion in the first place -- Guitar Hero and Rock Band are two of my favorite series of all time! If a new GH was announced (and they went back to their roots) I'd pre-order it in a second.
Guitar Hero Warriors Of Rock is my favorite for much, I still playing it!!
That makes 2 of us
I just started playing it after a few years.
Favorite guitar hero is Guitar Hero Metallica
My favorites are Legends Of Rock, GH5 and Warriors Of Rock!
Why
Legit i remember when Guitar Hero first came out my dad got it randomly on PS2 and man we both spent hours and hours playing I played more than my dad cause I was still a yougin at the time but when Guitar Hero II came out that’s when I dedicated my life to playing this and Rock Band lol man I miss these days tho this is what really brought me and my friends together sadly we don’t talk anymore but man I just miss these days being a teen in this era was the best 💜
"and that was pretty much it for the rhythm genre as a whole"
- ignores osu!, beatsaber, geometry dash and a plethora of other (mostly free) games that are thriving
Beat Saber looks dope. I wish I was in a position to get vr(money isn't the issue but the space it requires and I don't have time)
Geometry dash is not a rhythm game😭
And now there’s Friday night Funkin
Personally, loved Guitar Hero 1 & 2. But once Rock Band came out, I completely abandoned it for Rock Band, which I just found to be the much better game. Now I have a full RB4 setup and love it. Play almost every day. :)
And then Clone Hero got released
Doesnt count
Oh my oh me it’s a good game
The console transition during this time really helped guitar hero be fine tuned with its gameplay but the bigger transition mark had to be the switch from cover songs to master recordings.
These days, no other rhythm game can beat Clone Hero!
Rock on brother!
@@XbninjaXIV And also you forgot to mention it has a built in speed hack
Just so y’all know, clone hero is still in alpha!
GH 3 on my home console beats Clone Hero because Clone Hero is only on PC and is not a real GH game, right. (Well, in fact, I own almost every GH/RB game and six guitars and the drums).
LEGO rock band it was the only one I played as a kid and just holds a ton of nostalgia
