Clicked for the Guitar Hero, stayed for the 11/10 jokes, skits, and humor
i worked at GAME when these games were in their decline. the hardware was worthless at the time, so anyone who wanted to trade it in, basically couldn't. so they just left it in the store for us to throw away. i was able to take them home, as no other staff wanted them. i still have about 25+ guitars in the wardrobe at my mums house. i'll retire on them.

This is seriously one of those videos where I just have to fully thank youtube's algorithm for bringing me to such a masterpiece. I'm only 15 minutes in but the love for the subject is bleeding through the screen! One of those times where I scroll down to subscribe fully expecting to see 500k subs just based off quality alone. Also F in chat to your 2nd guitar hero 2 copy. I had the same lesson taught when I brought my CoD MW3 copy for xb360 to my cousins house and his siblings kicked over the xbox while they were playing it.
One thing I give GH5 props: The design and position of the Rock Meter, Combo Meter and Star Power are smart as hell by centering closer to the highway and making it easier to check them without straying too far from the notes.
That's a good point, there's not much to appreciate about 5 but the in-game UI was genuinely a good upgrade

Straight up the best and my favorite. I wish I could relive playing Bloodlines on it for the first time again.
It was the one that got me actually into finding the music and falling in love with Sabbath and Megadeth. Although 21st century schizoid man ended up causing my rockband drum set falling apart, but not before the solo made my left stick break mid-solo, giving me the much needed skill of improv.

Me personally when I played this Christmas Day in 2007 I did not like the singers face. I looked to totally ugly compared to his Guitar 2 counter part tho I liked his style of clothes on GH3 obviously inspired by Anthony Keidis of RHCP style of the Mid 2000's

So a little fun fact (if no one has said it here yet): the more forgiving nature of Guitar Hero 3 (by that I mean how the game handles how you hit notes and do hammer-ons and pull-offs) was done by complete accident. It was a glitch that they didn't bother to fix until Guitar Hero Aerosmith, where the HOPOs were made to work more like World Tour. The infinite front end of how notes are hit would be replicated in Clone Hero
The most interesting thing of Guitar Hero World Tour on PC is to add Definitive Edition Mod to it, so you can add any song from others games and any 3D model avaliable at the mod store.
I haven't seen this much work put in a video in a while! The smooth editing and the many skits throughout really made the almost 3 hours feel short. Great work! The care and dedication really paid off

Great video! I loved pretty much every minute of it. As a Guitar Hero veteran, I always love seeing videos about Guitar Hero from a casual player's point of view. This is a great ranking, and you did the right decision by putting Warriors Of Rock at number 1. That game is so underrated, and that is my go-to Guitar Hero game on console. Clone Hero is great and all, but my preferred game on PC is World Tour Definitive Edition. It's nice you gave it a shout-out at the end, but I would've loved to see you talk about it a little more. Your top 3 is pretty much my top 3 as well. Warriors Of Rock is my definitive console GH game. GH3 was my first GH game. And World Tour is the GH game I put the most hours into, and especially more so after Definitive Edition came out in 2021. And I loved how you absolutely destroyed Guitar Hero 5, because I also remember as a kid thinking that GH5 wasn't a real Guitar Hero because of the clean and corporate aesthetics it had compared to GH3 and World Tour. And I also think GH2 being so low in the ranking was a little undeserving. I agree that it's a pain to play on a flat screen. But if you manage to get your hands on a CRT or a TV with very little input and audio lag, the first three Guitar Hero games are some of the greatest. The Guitar Hero 2 engine is such a rewarding engine when you play cleanly and nail that tricky section. All of them are better than Smash Hits, that's for sure. I hate the charting in that game.
But in the end, great video. I have also thought about ranking each of the songs included in every Guitar Hero game.
I agree with you wholeheartedly! I unfortunately didn't know much about WTDE until I was basically done playing all the games, but I'm definitely playing it casually now! Wish I would've been a bit more informed about it as I was working on this video
As for GH2, honestly... I think you're right. I might need to take better look at it in the future, maybe even go out of my way to get a CRT. I loved it growing up and I still love it now, but yeah... Saying it's worse than Smash Hits.... Doesn't even feel right as I was typing that. So might update my official list on my ranking at some point.

I actually considered ranking the songs or making a list of my favorites, but well after I had already played the games so I decided not to. Plus the video might have been 4 hours then 😂
@@imklubbyeah, I was also surprised that given the time and dedication shown in the whole rest of the video, getting all the peripherals even including co-op, you didn't bother to find a cheap little CRT to give the older games a fair shake. It honestly turned me off at the beginning of the video but I'm glad I stuck it out.

Man, it's been quite a long time since a small creator had me this engaged on a video, you had a way of approaching the ranking and the video which made it incredibly fun to watch the entire time, from the jokes, the editing, the facts from the different games and the gameplay, seriously man, what a great job. Imagine the struggle of calibration in these games and couple that with running game rooms at cons where the games HAVE to be there and recalibrated at every event - sometimes not with the same setup. Yeah, it's a nightmare.

I'm happy to see some love for the Van Halen Guitar Hero game. I grew up with a Dad who was a die hard Van Halen fan and this game really brought us together when I was a kid. He worked long nights and through the weekend but he always came home to see where I was at in the career mode for the first week it came out, and always asked for me to play a few songs for him before bed. It felt awesome ripping a solo on expert 100% and he'd cheer like he was at a concert again in the 80's. Klubb, this is such an amazing video, you earned my subscription so quick, I cannot wait for future uploads! Also the Smash Mouth reoccurring bit throughout the video kills me every single time lol.

Good video, but here's a couple of things worth mentioning
1. Your jokes about having to purchase multiple guitars are funny, but there are comparatively inexpensive way to have a single guitar that works with 360, X1, PS3, and PS4, as well as PC and Mac (via RetroCultMods) being either 70$ for a kit that doesn't require any solidering (in some cases, you might need to modify the controller by trimming some of the plastic), or 40$ for a kit that requires solidering.
2. GHTV is playable today, in the form of GHL Reloaded, possible to do on a modded Wii U or PS3, or PS3 Emulator
3. Coinciding with the last thing, there are several games with community patches, you mention World Tour, but there is on for Guitar Hero 2 and Rock Band 1-3. These aim to fix some problems with certain games, and features like customizing the highway and notes in RB3 Deluxe, etc
While I enjoyed the video, I couldn't help but feel some of the issues portrayed in this video would have been nullifed, or made the video more interesting (GHLReloaded in particular)
Can't forget Import costs for anyone outside of where RetroCultMods does his things. Europe for example (Germany) A Solderless RGB Kit costs about 108-110€ because of Shipping and Tax. Still a must buy for any hardcore GH/RB/CH Player.
I guess he wanted to show the games as they were originally intended, using the official hardware for the time.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Yes! I wanted to review the games as they are now. It's AMAZING, that the community is so wonderfully talented enough to bring back out dated or dead services so that people can experience them if they really want to. And while I have no problem doing that or figuring it out, the general people won't know how or want to put in the effort if it's not plug and play which I completely understand. That's why I wanted everything here to be from a neutral or base experience of the games if you were to try and experience them today as they are.
Regardless of all that, you do bring up good points and it's nice that those options are available for people.

@imklubb oh I understand from that perspective, the first point in particular was something that (which I'd understand someone for not knowing, cuz i had to LOOK for something like that myself lol) would have been cool if highlighted specifically because of the aforementioned point about expensive peripherals not being compatible with all games, highlighting how anyone can get their old PS2 guitar and make it compatible with every game AND console

I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF THIS VIDEO and also I was watching the previous videos and comparing it with this one, in terms of audience hook I think you always had it right. It seems that the algorithm this time did justice for your channel just like in the Zelda video, it's a matter of time for your channel to rise through the roof and beyond, the dedication and strength you have to have to go from 10 to 20 min productions (considered the "Sweet spot" base of this type of content) to a videos longer than 1 hour is inspiring, your personality and charisma in front of the camera makes it clear (at least from my point of view) that you have to transition from the avatar to this format, perhaps the avatar could be as a kind of side kick for future videos, overall I think you nailed it, kudos for all the people who accompanied you throughout the video, whether friends, family or partner, it is very sweet from them get involved at this level with what you are projecting. I wish you luck, but I don't think you're going to need it much, this is about to explode and I'm going to stay here waiting so I can see the shock wave of your content.

I would LOVE a rock band follow up now. I only really got into this style of rhythm game after playing fortnite festival, and from what I've read online, all the passion that went into the earlier games was continued in the rock band games after GH3. I'm super curious to see how they compare, and would love to see it play out in a video formatted like this one.

Great video, as other comments said the editing and production is way better than one would expect for a channel this size. World Tour was my favorite because it was the first I played and I loved making custom characters. The track list got me into some music I still love like Rise Against, Lacuna Coil, and Dinosaur Jr.
Probably one of the best videos about this franchise i´ve seen, is incredible how much you researched and played to bring us this masterpiece, I vividly remember how much I waited for the set list videos of the warriors of rock game, I replayed those videos so much because they were the best songs and most cool aesthetics i`ve seen in my life, those years were so cool to me and the fact that you loved that game as much as me is the best, is amazing how these games bring us together to see and talk about them even years after the games were done, I love this video and you earn yourself a new subscriber, keep enjoying games and bringing us this level of joy. love from Chile my friend.
I've watched this over 3 sittings and it is honestly one of the best videos I've ever seen on UA-cam. I can't imagine the work that must have gone into this the script and all of the sudden changes of pace and surprise sequences were inspired. Just absolute dedication this is high art, unbelievable man!

Terrific video, i are up learning guitar and playing guitar hero at the same time and it was the best. Go a good chuckle when you complained about not having anymore "big guitar" type songs in the later games but then didn't know about frampton comes alive ahahah. Keep up the great work :)
