@@SailingOneLifethanks Gary and everyone for sharing Minerva Reef with us. It was quite an education for me because I remember the GBR - Great Barrier Reef - used to look like that. Nice that you guys keep typing the name of the fish in your videos. Great vid guys - as usual, Gary - what do you do for prep to keep the water out of your mask - I also have a full beard and have trouble keeping it out, especially ponds at my nose inside the mask which is really awful
I actually don't do anything special to get my mask to seal! Beard or not I never seem to have a problem. I'd suggest that perhaps a different mask might fit your face better and form a seal. Maybe head to a dive shop and see if you can try a bunch of different masks in the pool until one works?

Thanks for the love as always, Thomas! 💙
Nice that you guys keep typing the name of the fish in your videos. Question from a newbie in 18:37 there is a stay that seems super loose out there clearly it's the windward side which you would expect to be looser but I have never seen one as loose as that just curious to know when do you guys decide what is too loose. Seems to be one of those dark magic things that nobody has a unique anser to
Its hard to miss NZ.
Agreed!
Great episode, and a greater adventure. As someone else mentioned, great UW footage. Those lights make all of the difference. Could I inquire as to the camera(s) you are using UW? I hope your passage to NZ will be (was) safe and a bit more comfortable than the first stretch? Fair Winds ... (Cathy and) Dorian on SV Arcanum (Caliber 40 LRC)
Hi Cathy & Dorian! Thank you! We use the GoPro Hero11 in a dive casing with two Nemo V3 lights attached to a tray. The lights make all the difference!
I like the braids my man not bad not bad 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸⛵⚓⛵ u ought 2 try some cornrows next
They’d last longer
Ha thanks! Need to find someone who can do corn rows next time.
Awesome footage under water! What equipment did you use, did you have lights also?
We use a GoPro Hero11 with Nemo dive lights....the lights make a huge difference!
@@SailingOneLife yeah, the way the colors on the reef popped out, I was curious about the light
Just noticed that all 3 of you had your hair in braids.
Haha yep! Passage hair! One of the girls on our friends boat did our hair for us.
Beautiful. Question: do boats anchored inside the lagoon discharge sewage and grey water in the lagoon while waiting ?
Most boaters are responsible and wait until they are offshore to discharge their tanks. No one likes swimming in their own poo.
Fair winds.....
Hello again, are you at north or south Minerva reef? And are you planning on stopping off at Norfolk island? Has a fascinating history. Good luck😸
Hey Ray! We were at North Minerva Reef for this adventure. Norfolk Island sounds like a great stop- we'll keep it in mind for future voyages. Thanks for following along with us!
@@SailingOneLife thanks for the reply, it's a real eye opener , to see such wonderful places, stay safe and good luck 😸
