Wizards and Warriors Channel fantasy animated documentary video series on the lore Warhammer 40k Universe and the Horus Heresy, started with the discussion of how the humanity fared in the 3rd millennium and beyond, how the Emperor started uniting the Humanity and the beginning of the Great Crusade, as Emperor and his sons - the Primarchs use the newly created space marines to bring the Humans together through conquest. They would fight the Xenos, including the Orks and this episode featured the battle of Ullanor against an Orkish Waaagh ( • Warhammer 40k - Start ... ). The Primarchs grew dissatisfied when the militaristic side of the Imperium began waning in importance, and more power was given to normal humans. Many secretly broke the rules made by the Emperor, unknowingly opening themselves to the machinations of the Chaos Gods. While all this was happening, the newly appointed Warmaster, Horus Lupercal, struggled to keep his brothers in check and prove that he was a capable leader - the seeds of chaos were sown ( • Warhammer 40k - Seeds ... ). Horus falls to Chaos due the plots of Erebus, leading to the Burning of Prospero, which was one of the greatest misunderstandings in the history of the Imperium leading to the fall of the Thousands Sons to chaos ( • Horus Falls - WH40k Lo... ). He was now ready to begin the Civil War at Isstvan III ( • Battle of Isstvan III ... ), and the victory there allowed the Traitorous legions to ambush the Loyalists at Isstvan V, leading to the dropsite massacre.

Where is the new episode of the mongol invasion of europe
I noticed you've called the Imperium 'the Empire' a few times. As I recall it's always been called the Imperium or Imperium of Man.
I would be glad if you indicated the books from which you took fragments of this massacre of Isstvan. Especially about the beginning of the battle.
Fraggle Rock doo doo doo doo doo doo Fraggle Rock doo doo doo doo doo doo Fraggle Rock doo doo doo doo doo doo lore video when?
@richardthomas9497 and Lion 'El was Leonel which is odd because when we say Lion it's Lion not Leon
My grandfather fought in this battle. What do you mean, on which side? That is a personal question.
10 like no comment? Lemme fix that!
True words i was there…
Bruh 😂
Inquisition and Grey Knights: So which side is it?
Hmmmmmmmm kinda sus
"You know, maybe we should have just dropped cyclonic torpedoes from the opposite side of the planet."
-Ferrus Manus, posthumous interview.
Nah, Ferrus would still want to bring back Fulgrim, his best friend, give him a smack to the head and drag him back to reason
Or at the very least dont push so hard you get completely surrounded and leave your flanking forces to eat shit :D
😂😂😂
They were fortified and had anti-air batteries.
@@ThatDragonGuy A cyclonic torpedo blows up the whole planet. You'd just drop it from the opposite side of the planet from Horus's fortress, or even better just out of range of the anti-air defenses. The exact same vector they used to land their gunships.
This video did Vulkan Justice.
Showed off the tenacity of the Salamander.
Ferrus was so blinded by rage, he couldn't see the mistake until it was too late.
Corax was in such shock he was in tears, his legion was never meant to fight this way out in the open... Like Gate 42 all over again... He flew into a rage trying to kill Lorgar.
The reasons for Horus sending the Ultramarines, Blood Angels and Dark Angels to far-flung edges of the galaxy, was because the Legions and their Primarchs are deemed the greatest threat to the Warmaster.
The Ultramarines were the largest Legion with roughly 300,000 Astartes. While Roboute Guilliman was not the best combatant, he had the greatest administrative and analytical skills of the primarchs.
Sanguinius, primarch of the Blood Angels, was perhaps the most dangerous to Horus in terms of his martial skill and foresight. While Horus is also aware of the Blood Angels' Red Thirst.
Lionel El'Jonson, having both animal instincts and great martial prowess was another primarch Horus didn't want to fight in single combat. Especially with his unwavering loyalty and unusually strong primarch aura. The Dark Angels, a Legion known for extermination, had weapons from the Dark Age of Technology that none of the other Legions had. Also the Dark Angels specialised in fighting Lovecraftian Eldritch horrors in the galaxy.
This post is spot on, a man who knows his lore. In my opinion he feared the 1st legion the most, all the primarchs knew the Lion should have been the warmaster.
@@petezero4840Lion would have been a terrible warmaster. Everyone would have rebelled in a year. Sanguinius and Guilliman booted him from imperium secundus for being a lying dick. Nobody liked him and he didn’t like anybody. I don’t think anybody but himself mentioned that he should’ve been the warmaster.
@@DirtyMardi What are you on about? If it was based on Merit the Lion hands down should and could have been chosen. What isnt realised is that he had equalled or slightly more worlds brought into compliance than Roubette and Horus during the great crusade, DESPITE being found later then all of them. In a converastion with the Emp himself, it was stated he was most qualified for War-master based on skill of warfare and Loyalty and Compliance Tally but said "some men need titles to mark an occasion (refering to Horus need for attention) and some men do not" . They would not at all rebel out of fear the dark angles brought and the dark age technology they had, which by the way , no other legion was trusted with.
@@IceCubE4425 I can’t find the exact quote where Big E states that Lion was the most qualified. Can you cite it please? I’ve also not seen any quotes in any books where other primarchs or anyone else really thought that Lion should be the Warmaster.
Horus was made the Warmaster because he can play with everyone and use their strenghts, not make them extensions of his own legion, shackling their potential. Guilliman would have probably made a good Warmaster, but could he direct Kurze or Angron… eh. Sanguinius was the best choice but he may not have been as good or experienced general.
@@IceCubE4425it says time and again in the novels that the Son Of Horus have the greatest record of the great crusade.
Imagine sending the Dark Angels, White Scars and the Ultramarines with them. The Ultramarines would've brought a stalemate due to their numbers, Gman would've been cautious and would've been a pain in the ass as well as how quickly the Ultramarines could adapt not to mention their tactical prowess and logistical advantage, the White Scars would've made the traitors know the real meaning of Blitzkrieg it would make the Death Korps of Krieg wet, the Dark Angels alone together with the Lion would've personally slapped Horus so hard, it would bring him to tears
And that's why they were sent away.
Dark angels alone is enought remember they have men of iron in their basement
It was here the Horus' treachery was finally revealed to the galaxy, It was here that for the first time, a primarch fell in battle against his own brother, it was here where the end began
I cry
The White Scars were not ignoring the calls. They were literally so far out on the fringes that no one knew exactly where they were. By the time they got back, the galaxy was burning in civil war, and they were just like, "Ok, what did we miss?". The Khan was actually more sympathetic to his traitor brothers than to the Emperor or most of the Loyalist primarchs. But, he had sworn his oath to the Emperor, and Jaghatai Khan was no Oathbreaker.
Jaghatai is made of the good stuff.
He may have been sympathetic, but he did not stay loyal to Big E because of his oath, but because he deemed, that taken all together, it's still the Emperor that is the less asshole of the two.
I'm guessing that sympathetic viewpoint evaporated once he saw what was happening to the Traitor legions with all the Warp fuckery happening to them.
The White Scars did indeed ignore Leman Russ' call to aid him in the Alaxxes Nebula, but only after they had broken free of Chondax. At that point, the Khan opted to ignore Russ' summons because he felt unsure as to which side was on the right and opted instead to travel to Prospero to make up his mind before intervening in the war.
@@Razgriz_01yeah his last conversation with Mortarion made it clear.
Perturabo: "Yeah...they're just running around shooting each other down there....ALRIGHT! FIRE!"
*(Smacks nuclear launch button multiple times)*
"I am a humble servant of the Dark Prince, an emissary sent to aid you in your _little_ war.."
-Fulgrim, Primarch of the Emperor's Children to Horus after his possession by a Greater Daemon of Slaanesh during the Battle of Isstvan V
Shoutout to the Mechanicus for keeping the Hereteks on Mars so Horus didn't get any back up!
It's not that they had a choice. Rogal blockaded the Red Planet but did not sent boots to the ground.
So…praise Dorn? Lol
One small correction: the Imperial Fists weren't sent to Phall in order to fortify it. They were meant to take part in the Battle of Isstvan V, but their fleet was waylaid by a warp storm (probably caused by the Warp Gods) and was left stranded at random in the Phall system, far from the front lines and unable to communicate with the Imperium for months.
This battle knocked out the Salamanders, the Raven Guard and the Iron Hands. They were completely unable to make a difference in the following conflict, completely terrifying when you think about it.
The Shattered Legions, Shadrak Meduson nearly killing the Phoenician.
Successfully killing Lucius, as well as many times their number in traitor legionaries.
Corax's Raptors and sabotaging of the Warmasters Supply lines.
Many Salamanders/Ravenguard and Iron hands regrouped with the Avenging Son on his journey to Terra... Taking part in the scouring.
Vulkans journey through fire to reach Terra, and ultimately protect the Emperor of mankind.
Corax organized and kept loyal forces/survivors those who could oppose Horus and prevented him from obtaining many weapons and technologies.
Not without trying they did; these Shattered Legions warbands would try anything and everything to harass the Traitor Legions supply lines. Some would even come close to assassinating the traitor Primarchs.
They weren’t rendered powerless, though. They definitely didn’t have the same impact that the larger Legions did, but they hampered the traitors by guerilla warfare and sabotage, destroyed supply lines, reinforcement muster locations, provided much-needed reconnaissance, etc, and were a hugely inspiring example of working together and perseverance. Without them, it’s possible that the traitors could have rolled right over all of Terra’s defenses, and the final battle could have ended up quite differently. They deserve much more credit and respect than they’ve ever been shown.
Corvus and his remaining raven guard launched a brutal guerrilla campaign against the traitors, harassing supply lines and intercepting vital reinforcements to the traitors fronts and overall being a constant thorn in Horus side.
The Shattered Legions made their contribution on the war.
While the Raven Guard tried to stabilise the south, the Iron Hands and other forces rallied around some charismatic leaders, like Shadrak Meduson and Autek Mor, and laid waste to Horus' supply lines and some important traitor sites (like Bodt). They managed to slow down the traitors' advance by months, if not years, preventing them from ever feeling comfortable in their own rearlines. Meduson even came close to assassinate Horus himself on one occasion.
Later in the conflict, the Salamanders even prevented Fulgrim from consolidating a new empire of horrors after his Legion fled from Chemos, destroyed by the Dark Angels!
you really have the 40k style down, love it!
Thank you, most welcome.
Awesome video!! Loving this series
Just a couple things I wanted to point out (others feel free to pls correct me):
1. Dorn did not send his retribution fleet to reinforce the Phall system. Rather, they were intended to actually support the "loyal" legions at Istvaan V in that action. They entered real-space at Phall only due to the interference of the Iron Warriors legion who basically used weird warp / psyker tech to create warp storms that forced them into that system to isolate them and keep them trapped so that Perturabo could TRY to kill them all himself.
2. The loyalists were also supported by Titan Legions (Legio Atarus).
3. Vulkan's perpetual nature was not known at this stage and did not impact the Istvaan conflict. His perpetuality was only discovered post battle under the torture of Curze (much to the annoyance of Curze who tried to kill him in every way possible). This is important as it plays a key part in explaining the Salamander's legion mindset post Istvaan as they were all told Vulkan was killed but refused to believe and held onto the "Vulkan Lives" mantra.
Yeah true Sigismund was meant to go to Istavaan as reinforcement and Vulkan's perputuqluty only came to the fore when he was captured by Konrad
I just found this Channel and I love the way this lore is told. Feels like a real Documentary. Please continue. The Emperor protects.
By the emperor.. the artwork is just... wow. Just wow. I applaud stansing sirs.
Bon apetit, best I can afford for this community. Thanks.
the graphics are IMMACULATE
Thank you, this audience deserves the best, I am not there but trying hard.
Y'all are upping your animation game with this video. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, most welcome.
Rogal Dorn's portrait needs additional moustache
Up until this point, Horus rebellion and heresy is going swimmingly and to plan, despite the escape of the handful of loyalists who had served in the now revealed traitor legions.
Even though his trap masterfully decimated three loyalist legions, the galaxy is now aware of his treachery and rebellion, whole sale. Allowing the loyalists to start gathering their strength and fortifying approaches to terra for the struggle to come.
The mechanicus soundtrack in the back makes this so much better
I wonder what a video on Battletech would look like from these guys. They would have plenty of things to pick from that franchise.
"All I See is Betrayal!"
-Ferrus Manus on Isstvan V
Dude the ui and map is so awesome 😎 I love this presentation
Thanks for watching and this comment.
_My dead is mine, and mine alone! I deny you this victory, traitors._
_We'll go together then, shall we?_
I have been waiting for the next one in this series! Thank you! I am currently on the book "Mechanicum" and it's pretty good so far.
This was awesome, the production value is excellent & informative.
Perfect timing. Was about to read Fulgrim, but I didn't really want to because Flight of the Eisenstein was a slog. Now I can skip to the Dan Abnett books and enjoy myself.
In "Fulgrim", the Dropiste Massacre is like 20 pages
this series is criminally underrated
Perturabo, the true MVP of the battle and an Gandhi player.
as a 21 year warhammer fan..you did well. thank you.
this are very well made , loving this series
this is perfection! I'm glad to have found this channel.
Been waiting for this! Thanks W&W!
Poor Salamanders!!!😢
Poor Iron Hands 😢
Into the fires of battle, unto the Anvil of War
Annnnnyday now. Loving the series.
How GOOD is Mechanicus soundtrack huh? Used in this video!
Amazing work, masterpiece
This is dope- Horus
I think it should be Isstvan V, not VI
Ditto. I think you're correct.
Wow, the artwork is brilliant.
Thank you for watching and your comment. It really helps.
Always like the story and enjoy it even more when it is described in such good details 👁️
I love the videos that you guys are doing on the Horace heresy and the end times keep it going
I've been waiting for this!
Wonderful video!
Love this series; please keep it up!
I pray for the day this channel will cover Kingdom (manga) battles, the greatest in term of strategy and epicness
I need to prepare myself emotionally for this
Let me know when you're ready
I still haven’t, I started reading the HH series in 2008 and have never gotten over what happens to the Raven Guard….
When men cried
High quality stuff thanks. easy to understand.
Please keep doing this series on the horus heresy in chronological order. One of the best on UA-cam by far!
2 more episodes added so far
I’ve subscribed to ‘Kings and Generals’ years ago, may as well subscribe to this one as well… PLEASE MAKE MORE OF THESE. 😎
great video, will you guys be covering 30k stories from the Black Books that don't appear in the novels? stories like the Raid on Xana or the Iron Hands invasion of Bodt?
Or the Sieges of Cthonia, Horus' homeworld, recently appeared in a game book. The first siege happened early in the Heresy, the second as a sideshow to the Siege of Terra.
This seems a lot like the conflict on Isstvan V.
May the Raven Guard have their vengeance against the traitors!
hype as fuck for the end and death part 2(novemember)
but sadly part 3 wont be out for 6-8 months after
And from that day onwards, whenever the mildest of inconvinience happened, Corax being the drama queen he is, said "its the dropsite massacre all over again"
Do Star Trek's Dominion War please
Great animations and overal great video
Probably one of the darkest events of all of sci-fi
"When the traitor's hand strikes, it strikes with the force of a Legion." - Warmaster Horus
Stuggled to tell who is who but I like the presentation, thank you for this video
We need more warhammer lore vids.
Can’t wait until you cover the siege of terra in 10 years 😂
Yes! more warhammer
Ferrus Manus will never get any further Ahead in life.
I'm early enough I can leave on the eisenstein
As a minor criticism the 7 days to die screamer sound going off randomly in the background of the music is quite jarring and distracting. Other than that this is top notch stuff.
looking forward to more
All this could have avoided if the Emperor had just sat down and talked to his nutter kids.
Yup, ya done fucked up, Big E.
The Emperor is noted for his inconsistent parenting.
This is fantastic!
Your titles wrong it’s Isstvan 5 not 6
Top ten anime betrayals of all time
Love your content 😊😊😊😊
any ideas on when the final episode of the mongol invasion of europe will come out? we still need to see Bela vs Batu.
Yeah this guy gets it ^
Vulkan is Wolverine of warhammer 40K ;) :D
Superb
"Leon" lol
what a massacre, this series is so nice.
Post-Isstvan III Dorn was given supreme command, and rather than consolidate forces, confirm loyalties, and identify a theatrical commander, instead he fired 7 un-vetted legions to the Isstvan system to make an immediate assault on arrival (not even attempt a blockade). Great planning.
Plss next the battle of calth we guilliman establish the imperium secondus
rather good this.
Why does the Emperor’s artwork look like a fishman from One Piece ?
Wouldn't it be interesting if W&W did One Piece lore?
One of the biggest battles in the Horus hersey. Less Combatants than Stalingrad. It would be nice if you add a few zeros to the imperial army forces.
please more!!
On the way :)
I can't wait to play this game. 😋
Is the uchrony on Mongol invasion of western Europe continuing?
4000 out of 80000 remained… such a loss, mistakes were made.
Boy, that Leon.....
Is it spelled Isstvan or Istvaan ? I see both every time and as a new fan,Im confused.
How on earth did the loyalists get off the planet . Let alone survive
Resilience
All I wanted was the truth!
You have several major mistakes:
1.Lion El Johnson's name pronounced wrong.
When next mongol series video is coming??
Need a bit of work on the names. But other than that good job
This is amazing!
Poor Vulkan, that Emperor given Perpetually worked hard against him when Konrad Curze picked him up and tortured him for months. Literally killing him in every way he could think of, slowly driving him more insane as he couldn’t kill his brother.
Should have had all the alpha legion troop symbols be Alpharius
About time...
