    It’s 3pm California time. My son is about to pitch for his high school baseball team. I’m in the parking lot watching warm ups. Ordinarily I’d be chugging a half pint of vodka. For the first time in all his high school games, I’m sitting here sober. Drove by so many liquor stores on my way here. Tempted me all the way. Must have drove by 10 liquor stores. Instead I threw on this video and I made it here sober. 4th day sober. Thanks bro. Your videos are really helping me jump start this journey. See you next video bro.

    "Time capsule" is such a great metaphor for alcohol and other drugs. I pretty much lost a decade to addiction, and after getting clean I watched a lot of my friends being stuck in the same vicious cycle, unable to move forward. I had to distance myself from a lot of them (my ex included) and I can only hope they're doing better now.
    I can totally relate to the desperation: I call it ABS or Anything But Sober (english is not my first language, but I think this is a pretty good euphemism). I huffed, drank cough syrup etc. Makes me shudder now, but thank God it's a thing in the past.
    As you get more time of sobriety under your belt, the desperation will be left farther behind until it's a distant memory. A disturbing one, but far away.

    • @Slayer-7373
      @Slayer-7373  6 місяців тому +2

      Yes I love that metaphor, when I finally woke up out of my alcoholism and tried to get sober I realized just how far behind I was, I noticed everyone left me behind for their own sake and you can’t blame them, real sad when you look around and you’re all alone. Life and people have moved forward and you’re still exactly where you were. Congratulations on putting that behind you, you’re extremely strong for that. It does get better over time, thanks so much for the comment 🙏🙏

    You are talking bro love the honest truth, The thing that stuck out to me in this video was when you were talking about the morning struggles and knowing you had to get alcohol back in my system to take away the shakes the pounding heart and the clouded mind. And yes I would do the same thing My first shot or two I would have to throw it back up but after that I could hold it down and I felt "normal" again which is so not normal. I am so happy that you have broken away from that so have I and hopefully a lot of your subscribers and viewers are or can get past that because there is such a better life. Alcohol's just a temporary feeling and it's steals everything from you. Love it bro keep it coming! 🎯💯

    Yo Slayer are you improvising these? Your speaking is excellent. Well structured, articulate and the way you describe your experiences is so coherent and relatable. The time capsule analogy is so true. Those years are GONE. Groundhog Day all over again until you learn to transcend the cycle. Or not 💀
    Blackouts are so scary. Especially when you get to the point that you cant remember entire evenings or days. I once traveled from NorCal to NM on a roadtrip where I was washing Atavan down with liquor the entire time. It was 4 days because we stopped over in LA for 2. I remember none of it except departing NorCal and then arriving in Santa Fe (I was not driving thankfully).

    I have struggled with addiction with alcohol and opiates for many years. I dont really drink very often anymore...the hangovers are so bad (especially the older you get). When I got cut off from the opiates that my doctor prescribed I went into horrible withdrawals. At that time I was researching like crazy to see what, if anything would help. Thats when I discovered kratom. And I have to admit, it worked extremely well. But that was about 8 years ago and now I take kratom every singlr day and I hate it! I have tried tapering down, but being ab addict I was never any good at that. I pray to God that I can get over this. The only thing that comforts me is the fact that kratom is a much better alternative than being on pills. I know deep down its still not good, but I find myself trying to justify this in my mind. Maybe some day I will be able to stop, but man I just dont know at this point

    • @Slayer-7373
      @Slayer-7373  5 місяців тому +3

      I have friends who are in the same exact position as you man, I remember when kratom first came to the scene. Everyone was saying it cured their opiate addiction, but what many don’t know is kratom is an opiate itself and highly addictive. So even tho kratom is less harmful then let’s say herion or fentanyl, it’s still damaging over time. Sorry you are going through this brother, try looking up some different ways to get through the kratom withdrawal. I tried tapering myself with alcohol and it never worked UNLESS I had someone giving me the alcohol. You could try giving a close friend or loved one your kratom and tell them to taper you off. It’s a tricky situation man, addiction sucks. I wish you luck brother! Keep me updated please 🙏
