Between the 13" and the 15", probably the 15"... but I would choose the (m1) 14" pro for my own needs. The dual monitor support and better overall package (speakers, display, fans) and the fact that RAM and SSD have a higher base... kinda a no-brainer for a power user like me.
Such a well done video. I like your attention to detail and the hand gestures while demonstrating the screen size. Little things like showing the Excel spreadsheet for screen size difference or the arrow pointing to the heat sink shows that you go the extra effort to make high quality videos. Thank you for all of your hard work!
Thanks for the feedback, and glad you enjoyed it!
I just bought a 13" M2 Air base model today after waiting for the 15" reveal recently and the price drop on the 13" helped. So far, I'm loving it. I'm using it as a companion to my desktop M1 Mac Mini with 32" monitor setup. So, for me, I wanted the smaller size for couch usage, coffee shops, etc. For anyone wondering about the base model performance for office work, productivity, multiple Chrome tabs and apps running - I just tested opening up all of my normal content writing/SEO/AI tools for work. This is roughly 16+ Chrome tabs and 2-3 apps. Everything seems to work just as fast as my M1 Mac Mini base model (meaning it works very well). Memory pressure was in the green until I added a tab with UA-cam, then it went yellow but still worked 100% fine, no slow downs. I have one web app (SurferSEO) that always puts my M1 into high memory pressure when I do a specific task, and this happened just the same on the M2 Air base model. I think the 15" Air will be fantastic for anyone using it as a solo machine (no desktop monitor) or just anyone who prefers the large size like you say in the video. I would've loved either, but I'm thrilled to finally have the ultra-portable 13" Air :)
I've had the base model 13" M2 Air since launch day. My daily workload isn't as heavy as some, but it's not uncommon to have 6-7 apps open and a couple tabs in Safari. That includes audio editing software and Photoshop. The base model handles it all like a breeze! It really is a great computer for 90-95% of users out there.
Awesome video from my favorite Tech channel. I came from a 13 inch M1 Air and have been using my new 15 inch Air M2 for 2 days heavily. I work in healthcare IT and can say the extra screen size is made a huge difference in productivity.
There is one little aesthetic perk the 15 has over the 13. Because of the larger screen, apps with many menu bar items (like Numbers) can nicely fit together on the top left hand corner. They are no longer split up by the notch. This makes the notch even less noticeable and feels more full screen.
how do you even split apps up by the notch? mine always get hidden behind the notch which is annoying af
Amazing concise video and every idea presented very clearly! Loved the clear distinction between these Macbooks
I think if this will be your main computer, then go for the 15" with 16gb of ram. For me I have a powerful desktop, this base 13" air is my couch lounger and travel device. I tried the iPad pros and other than just using it for media consumption, I didn't like iPad OS. This 13" m2 is perfect if you're in the same situation
I'm considering maybe the same. I have a powerful desktop as well. I'm looking for something that I can use to quickly search items at work and when I want to go out to study. I've never had anything less than a 15" laptop before so it feels a little odd. But saying $200 is always nice.
Thank goodness I stumble upon this review, I have my main workstation at home so I want portability and smaller size. Definitely going for 13 since the difference in total aspects is not so major. Thank you for this!
Finally!! a comprehensive and honest review!!
Thanks
2:36 this is the first time I’ve genuinely been excited by a spreadsheet 😅
Thank you this is the most detailed comparison I have come across!
Hi! I need new laptop for software development and web development, can you suggest me which macbook should I buy?
Wow, nicely explained 👍
Nice review. Covered all major points with good quality.
i just bought the 15 inch with 8 ram and 512 gigs is that good too?
Bigger is better computer wise, but these are for different use cases, for me always on the go with a desktop,13inch no doubt
Can I get the old 11” Air tho?
3:50 great song choice
I just got the 13.6 M2 MacBook Air with 16 gigs of ram memory, and 512 SSD storage. I did keep the 8 core GPU, as some tech videos said not allot of difference with the 10 core. I'm a long time Windows user since 1999 with Windows 98. My last Dell desktop had Windows 7 pro with 2T hard drive, cause I used to have a website, and build my own web pages. I got the Silver color, cause Midnight, and Space Gray get too many smudges, fingerprints. So glad you mentioned about sound pretty much being the same. One video tech guy played music on both models, and he said 15 inch sounded muffled and grainy. I don't think is sounds any better than 13 Air. Let's face it for best sound quality you need to get the pro versions. I like that is doesn't put a strain on my shoulders in crossbody laptop briefcase. This is my first laptop, and I love it.
It's so nice to see this sharing! I am gonna buy the exact same spec of macbook air this week probably!
I bought 13 and 15 together and 15 sounds way better than 13.
why make this beautifull video in 4k ???.......its for people that want to see watercooling?or more screen is =more ddr memory.....so what is the goot play ?16gGB price?...for gaming to?
Great video. Informative and concise. I've had the base model 13" M2 Air since launch day. Absolutely love it. My laptop is docked at my desk about 95% of the time. I think I'd like the 15" size for when I do take it on the go. The bigger screen sounds good. Waiting to see one in person at the Apple Store.
I went from Intel 2020 MacBook Air and went straight to the M2 MacBook Air 15 inch with 24GB Ram and 256 SSD storage and its a definite powerhouse
Brother: awesome PPT | Comparative analysis | video recording | voice over | editing | I like the way you present the information. you are the one.... I will like the video and subscribe the channel.... keep it up
Wallpaper on 15’ MacBook?
When the macbook air 17" being launched?
What terminal command shows the terminal data the way you did in the video at :43 P&T
My guess is that the 15 going to be Apple's best selling laptop. I think there is still a place for the 13, although I might be biased because I have the M2 MBA 13, but it perfectly fits my use case. It's crazy portable so it's perfect when I travel, and it isn't my primary computer, I have a Mac desktop and 27" monitor for home use.
I went from Intel 2020 MacBook Air and went straight to the M2 MacBook Air 15 inch with 24GB Ram and 256 SSD storage and its a definite powerhouse
If you want to game, do going ME Max really going to allow you to play more games and smoothly? Take into consideration of the new game porting tools and also Death Stranding which I really want to play. Should I just get Steam Deck and this 15 inch MBA or better get MBP 16 M2 Max, I hope to get M3 series because it has ray tracing hardware as rumor said, I do programming, editing and so on too
And the charger included in the 15” is $20 dollars extra for the 13”. So it is more an $80 dollar difference then $100.
A question that is rarely asked: does the screen of the Macbook Pro 14 inches (or Pro 16 inches) have less reflections than the Macbook Air (13 or 15 inches) ?
tes mac air 500nits, mac prod 1500nits
@@rmesantos In fact, this is not true ) Pro gives 1500 nit only in HDR video. In regular work both give 500 nit.
I would accept the notch, if it would have Face ID. But just for the camera? excuse me, but I use continuity cam with my iPhone. And that cam is way better. edit: can someone please tell me the five resolutions I can choose for this display? Thanks in advice.
ive been using my MacBook Air 13.6 since august for college since I'm always on the go, and I was wondering if I made the right choice to get the smaller size over the much bigger version since its only a $200 price difference.
If you're wondering then you have made a mistake
The speakers are not exactly the same lmao. The 15” is louder especially when you’re watching videos. With that aside, I’m getting the 15” Air since I need more screen real estate for my workflow.
For App developments Which one is better 15 inch air or 13 inch m2 with 16 gb 250ssd ?
if by app you mean mobile app dev then I will highly recommend the M1 pro or go with M2 and 24GB
I'm rocking the maxed out M1 pro with 16Gb when i run few microservices (as docker containers) I regret heavily the 16GB i really wish i went with the 32GB i can notice it my laptop in the last 3-4 months gets moe laggy and spent considerable time waiting for the ranbow wheel to go
now this wasn't the case when i use linux in the machine while doing some security related things (pentesting / bug bounty hunting)
Thanks to make this video less then 10 minutes!
for the same price and 16gb each, would you get 512 13" or 256 15"?
15"
15" and pair it with external ssd
13". 512 ssd is faster than 256 ssd.
you made brilliant points like a 15 inch laptop wont fit in a 13 inch bag and speaker quality only matters if you listen to them
what’s the effective resolution on 15 Air? I google it but no answer.
It's the exact same as the 13" version. There are technically "more pixels" on the 15", but that is only to account for the larger screen size. It's still an Apple Liquid Retina display with the same PPI (pixels per inch) density as the 13".
@@CreatedTech sorry, by effective resolution I mean logic resolution. like MacBook Pro 14, features a 3024 x 1964 native resolution, which will be presented to users as 1512 x 982@2x logic resolution by default.
Wallpapers?
I love everything about the new Air M2
Unable to translate English UA-cam videos into other languages since 1 week or 2 (this is also the case for your video). What happened ? Do you know ? My language is French.
In my country the 15” with 16gb ram and 256ssd is around $50 cheaper than the 13” with 16gb ram and 512gb ssd. Is it worth saving those $50 and getting less ssd?
Sure!
Do you know where I can find a 15” with 16gb ram and 256ssd? I can’t seem to find it or at least one for a fair price
@@NESShadows in the Apple Store. Here I bought mine, just like you say
@@afdreamteam5930 Ok thank you, I’m having trouble finding it but I’m gonna try asking for support if I can’t find it after more searching
Are these touch screen?
They released the 15 inch 2 MONTHS after I bought the 13 inch. Had I known they were releasing the 15 inch, I would’ve waited. :/
Not a real comparison, it is like you just stared at the “surface” of it all.
The fact that de 15”inch is more capable of dissipating heat, makes huge difference that some people has noticed, because of throttling issues with 13”inch one.
I love everything about the new Air with its stunning design, build quality, display, and sizes, but I don't know if it's just better to wait for the M3 chipsets. I currently use an intel based 2018 MBP 13 inch with an i5. The biggest reasons why I want to upgrade is cooler temps, better battery life, and overall just better performance with a processor.
Don’t wait for M3, just get the M2 now. M3 will have minimal differences
95% of people barely even use m1 to its potential. M3 is going to be entirely superfluous to the average consumer.
@@user-em4wh5ji3w I push my stuff hard enough, a fan-less system would not do for me, especially when running Unreal Engine and other intense 3d renders. I ended up getting the M2 Max Studio and love it. So far that has been perfect for my needs. That way I don't really have to upgrade my 2018 laptop so soon.
I know this isn’t pertinent to this video. However, I love my M2 iPad Pro 12.9 with the keyboard and pencil. Not a cheap setup though, but so much more fun to use than a Mac. I don’t have editing, student, or coding needs. If you have any of those needs, get a Mac.
but when we use office apps like sheet, slides, docs, i like to use laptop than ipad :(
Any Mac mini pro review in the works?
I've been tempted to pick up an M2 Pro Mac Mini to become my personal desktop computer, so if I do, I'll definitely do a review.
option A: trade-in my 13'' MacBook Air M1 for this 15'' or
option B: buy a decent 27 inch screen to go with the 13''
Option B. But depends on your special needs, for me, portability is the best
trading in only if the 13" specs are not enough
other wise option B is better 99% of the cases many reasons why but you need to think for yourself based on how you use your device do you go out much for work like a civil engineer ? or are you a software eng. who stay inside who will need a larger screen setup ?
I would go with 13
Everybody forgets there were two MacBook Air sizes for YEARS
Yep, it used to be 11 and 13 inches
I’m going to go with the m2 MacBook Air I needed and upgrade from an intel MacBook Pro 2019🤣
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! Oh wait, I have no money...
Go with 13 cos it’s lighter. Connect an external monitor as needed.
Couldn't agree more 😅. For me bigger screen only needed when i do work either in office or at home.
@@EdiUtomoPutra yeah I have the M2 MBA with all the specs maxed out. I can barely notice it’s on my backpack. When I’m home I connect it to a 27" monitor. It’s seriously a dream. I also have a 14" maxed out MBP but that’s actually pretty heavy to carry around. That’s why I got the Air.
Get both 13 and 15
@@tchrisbass5650 then get the 14 and 16 MBPs
@@nikoma_ Do you have external keyboard too?
Size does matters just got real with apple
2 inches makes a huge difference... ask my ex-wife... :(
I am going to get one from Best Buy open box for a discount
13.6 is the best of course.
You got the worse charger out of the 2.. dual port is 35W and single port is 70W
im gonna get 13 inch
The 3" M2 MacBook Air is more portable, but has a smaller screen and less powerful hardware. The 15" M2 MacBook Air has a larger screen and more powerful hardware, but is less portable. The choice depends on individual needs and priorities.
I am a computing student and I am on the fence deciding whether to buy 13 or 15 inch. Is there a massive difference between those two ? Any suggestions?
@@justarandomguy6496stucked at the same thing. What did you buy?
Sorry but this is wrong. They have the same hardware (cpu / ram / ssd) so performance wise they are equal. The only difference is the bigger screen and 2 more speakers.
I agree with the rest that you stated.
@@justarandomguy6496 which one you got? im stuck on same point with m# chip ;/
@@muhammadwahajkhalil6577 Depends on your Major . I went into Coding and I will have to look at lines of codes all day so I bought 15 inch .
2 inches is a lot
300 grams is also a lot
M3 coming in weeks sooo
No, it’s not.
