Saying the reactor "broke down" is like hitting a poorly built car with a bat for several hours till it explodes, then telling the insurance company it "broke down".
@@youmakemehappy7 They opened up the book, "The Do's and Don'ts of Building and Running a Nuclear Reactor" and did all the "Don'ts". The response to the disaster after the explosion made matters way worse than it had to be too. Easily the majority of the casualties are on the hands of the people in charge of disaster responses. Short version: Reactor designed to suck, built to suck, run by people who had no idea what they were doing, supervised by people who didn't care, stalled a reactor during a test, continued test even though it would be pointless and prove nothing, and tried to fix it by turning everything way up beyond what was safe. Turned off automatic control, emergency cooling and emergency power reduction. Ignored warnings by safety systems and blocked automatic preventatives of catastrophic failure. Then pretended like there was nothing wrong and suppressed information that would have saved lives in order to save face, let people continue life in the nearby town that was covered in radioactive ash for three days before evacuation. Gave them idoine to protect from radioactive iodine months later, which is like vaccinating someone for a disease they caught two weeks ago. Only warned the world of radiation three weeks after, continued using the same reactors in other locations for years until the severe issue with it leaked and they were forced to replace them. Long version: First, the design of the reactor had issues, but the main one is the control rods. To slow reaction rate, control rods are inserted into the core. The automatic control rods are only boron, but the rest are a boron section with a graphite section attached at the end, separated by a gap between them that is filled with water. The graphite rod moves to occupy the space the boron section leaves as it is withdrawn. The graphite absorbs less neutrons than the water so the reaction rate is higher than without them. It may help to look for a diagram of the reactor online. These rods were slow to move due to the design. Now, in the event of a power failure, diesel generators switch on to provide backup power. Since there would still be fission occuring, it was imperitive to keep the water pumps powered for cooling things down. The generators would take a minute to start up, so to avoid having a minute without any water pumped for cooling, they tried to use the residual turbine spin to bridge the time gap. So this is when the stupid takes over. Aside from undertrained workers that had no idea the test was going to happen or how to run the test, the supervisor decided it would be best to shut off the emergency cooling, emergency power reduction and automatic control (remember the automatic rods are just boron), putting everything in manual control of the undertrained, underinformed workers. They proceeded to stall the reactor which only happened because the previous shift were forced to run it at a higher output than planned. It needed to run at a lower output for a certain period prior to the test and this was know but the previous shift was powerless against the order to maintain the higher output. This meant the reactor was not suitably prepared for the test and xenon poisoning was keeping output down. The test would be pointless at this point, but the idiot in charge insisted on completing it. At less than 1% output, the supervisor decided the best thing to do was withdraw as many control rods out of the reactor as possible, even when the automatic shutdown system wanted to abort due to low water levels in the steam drum (not enough steam going through the turbine and being pumped back as water). This shutdown attempt was blocked because it was feared that the test would be aborted as a result. There were 6 rods out of 211 in the reactor, less than the safe number of 28 rods, before a 7% output was maintained. The reactor was never designed for such low level operation and water was building up in the core with not enough turning to steam, causing instability. Manual attempt to control the flow failed and it got worse. Because there was almost nothing absorbing neutrons, the reaction rate increased extremely fast, heating up so much that the coolant boiled. Eventually, the built up water in the core heated up too much, causing caviation in the pumps from bubbles. It was hot enough that all the built up water rapidly turned into steam which sent the turbine spinning into a huge power output. The manual emergency shutdown that would plunge the boron part back inside was activated, but the increased reaction broke the graphite part that was inside at the time, which jammed them in place. That graphite which was intended to increase reaction rate by absorbing less neutrons than water was now stuck inside and increasing the reaction. With no automatic intervention or emergency systems to responed, because they had turned them all off, the steam pressure got so high that all the tubes ruptured, one being above the core, and the top was blown off. The oxygen allows the graphite to catch fire and the metal in the fuel rods reacts with the water to create hydrogen, causing another explosion. The reactor was at 120 times it's full output when this happened. Note, building a shielded housing around it like everyone else in the world would've helped, but cheap and works is the motto in soviet russia. The authorities decided that even when radioactive ash blanketed the nearby town like snow, they wouldn't evacuate anyone for several days. Children played in it, people went to work through it, and even though iodine drops to protect thyroids from radioactive iodine were only effective many hours before exposure, they were only provided to the appropriate people months later. For three weeks, the powers-that-be pretended that there was no major problem, and even prevented distribution of information that would've saved many lives, in order to save face. These reactors were used in other locations for a long time afterwards before being replaced, to emphasise just how pathetic the authorities were. Their inaction easily accounts for a huge number of casualties.
@@danielhawkins7455 or bare with me okay... maybe what actually happened (and is far more believable 🙄) is a paranormal entity took over the nuclear reactors controls and caused it to fail to inflict massive amounts of casualties so that it may unleash an army from hell using the dead souls it produced. 😦

There are over 5000 scps as of right now, all written by the community. Most nowadays aren't neccesarily creepypasta, they're just reports of cool anomalous objects, entities, events, places, etc.
I disagree. What a boring ass game. Half the video is reading and dialogue.
Russian scp containment
7:15 you probably transcended in s higher state of mind with that scream
@Rimuru Society Bless you for tagging that time stamp. I've been replaying that moment and giggling non stop
😂😂
igp ask if they want him to continue this gameplay

Yes
Nah this game wasn’t scary at all

I feel like an audio calibration scale should exist for movies as well.
That's a great idea. Especially since audio is mixed so frivolously these days. It pisses me off when I'm playing or watching something and I can't hear dialogue or small sounds because I'm protecting my sensitive hearing from their damn loud noises.
"Loud noise scary" is a plague upon horror as a genre.
We're experiencing this with you. This is horrifically done in the best way.
The only other guy I've heard screaming with that much fear is Markiplier 😂. MORE PLEASE!!
Have you forgotten poor Icy?

the simple detail of not been able to close the doors once u open them is SOOOOO anxiety inducing...its the lil things like that, now i know a literal paradimentional being would just go right trough the door but still in my ape mind just the fact that its closed its like "im safe" but u walk into a room and the door stays open...my guy
Bruh, the prologue voice over… that voice is f**king awesome.
He sounds like yasuo with british accent
Is that prologue vid real?
@@itacheese6691 hmm i think its real and also fake?
@@itacheese6691 the footage is real
ikr i came like 3 times
I liked IGPs voice acting when he was starting to read the notes on the computer
For a moment I zoned out and thought I was watching a documentary during the monologue
same XD
it did have that feel, didn't it? I hate documentaries, so I didn't really pay attention. I don't even remember the words of what the guy was saying. Just a few images.
Horror becomes comedy when watching someone else
As someone who's played literally thousands of horror games and been deeply into horror content all my life, I always go into horror games enjoying the game but jaded and unscared by whats offered, having said that and having seen hallway traps like that happen many many times that one actually got me and thsts the first time in a long time that has happened so this game has me VERY excited
It's the delay. You expect it to change when you aren't looking, and the audio crash with it is actively designed to make you jump in surprise.
When you were going down the path of dont go this way i was like. “The developers are trolling people. They knew that people would go down that path. Its like a big red button that says do not touch. You have to touch. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
true. lol
And you never know what kind of trolling it will end up as: honest and a nightmarish result; or the opposite as like “yu big smart, yu did not listen and decided to find it, tHe TrUtH, out yourself”
Honestly. Same with the RUN on the ground. I hope he can go back to that flashing light to see if something actually does chase him!
bro i legit thought they used actual documentary footage in the beginning
they got a hell of a voice actor for that intro to sound so freaking legit
It wasn't?? I'm totally convinced some of it must have been real!
It was legit

Same waiting in a long ass line for ice cream

@@SgtDexterGrif It gives a different vibe, a solid and good but different vibe. Knowing myself I would never continue which is why I love watching horror game playthroughs instead.

I wonder how many times igp screams in a single video while playing a horror game
I will watch the whole video and get back to you on how many times he screamed this video

Yuuuuuuuuuup
Igp: I fear no man.. but that THING *looks at phone* it scares me.
So glad you checked out this game. Definitely lots of psychological and otherworldly horror here. In Soviet Russia, apparently SCPs hunt you.
This game is so terrifying that im scared of it before I watch it
This game is so terrifying I'm scared before ontologically conceiving it
7:49. This man speaks truth. We need this in options menus.
14:35 “dont forget to turn off lights” they said
“The melody is a warning about this woman appearing out of thin air” they said
Still, as always, IGP said: “F*#* you, dont you dare move” and somehow worked it out
There's already references in the game. The guy you are playing as is "Alexei Tarkovsky" which probably refers to Andrei Tarkovsky who directed the movie Stalker which inspired the game Stalker. The other reference is the SWAN institute director, Kaydanovsky. Alexandr Kaydanovsky was the actor who played the main role in Tarkovsky's movie. He was THE "Stalker".
7:26
"Alright so who was it this time?"
"The Atomic Energy Commission"
"If you want to see more of this, which I have this horrible feeling that you do"

The scream at the "too late" wall has to be one of the best screams ive ever heard leave this man
“AaAAAaaaH FUCK MAN” - best quote of the year
WHY good games like this do not have multiplayer mode?
Maybe because games feel more scary alone?
One of the many good ways to get you immersed into a game is, inject some historic footage/voice over.
Friend: *Is scared*
IGP: Not good enough though, I'm used to this shit
I love how he was talking like he was the shit then immediately screamed like a girl
nothing compared to icy, though. god, that guy is a collosal whiny girl.

IGP: DOESNT TURN THE LIGHT OFF
*Geiger counter red lines*

I’ve fallen into a newfound interest for a Chernobyl thanks to the last game you played for Chernobyl. I watched the series and have been looking into how the new containment is doing as well, the water inside is evaporating now actually, which it’s been acting as a moderator for what’s left still.
What's uh gonna happen when that all evaporates?-
