@@Tuglife820 it was done to get a shorter wheelbase truck. If you notice inside the cab on the passenger side is a box. That box covers the back end of the motor. The motor was set back into the cab and to make room on the driver side the cab was offset, this also allowed for viewing straight down the body from the driver side mirror. For a dump truck or concrete mixer it helps with visibility on a job site.
@@AppalachianRust nice! I was thinking maybe for visibility but wasn’t sure! Definitely didn’t think it would be to shorten the wheelbase. That’s cool thanks man!
I'm not a CDL, not a mechanic, not even an automotive engineer, but to me that cross member looks flimsy for the job it is supposed to do. Near the end of this video, yes, that is a spectacular view.
Weld a flat plate all the way across the c channel to close it up it doesn’t have to be completely welded spot here and there would do it never revisit it again
Hello James beautiful views excellent video you are a work horse love your work ethic you are the man. Thanks for taking us along thank you ken

Many parts trucks I'm thinking.
Your truck videos are rivalling Duffy Ag's these days, and the wax work looks good to me.
@@davidforbes6250 thanks. It worn off quick though haha.
your truck has good torque going up the hill !
i saw your autocar video, what a monster! remind me of a old Pacific P12 !
@@Ledwards22 it’s not as big as those trucks but it’s built strong
Is that something you could make ? Looks like it was a piece of channel iron.
@@farmall51 yes we’ve talked about making a reinforced crossmember. That’s what we’ll do at some point
That was fun thanks
Got a question hopefully you can answer. What was the purpose for the offset cabs?

It’s a few original Mack parts around but we don’t have any for sale. You can still get a few things from Mack I think, but it’s not cheap

@@stansdds it’s a weak point on these trucks. But it’s not going to fly apart.
It needs to be a little stronger for sure
