    I think the resurgence of an all-court playing style has really helped the popularity of tennis. Just like how fans got bored of serve and volley every point, extended baseline grinding also became boring to watch. Pickleball is a fun casual game to play (especially if there is beer nearby), but watching it is incredibly boring.

    Agree - Shelton is the one to defeat Sinner on hard court maybe next year. He must impove his returns. Nadal is broken and Djokovic is gone. Sinner is best on fast surface, Alcarez may beat him on clay. And there are two dozen of very good players just behind. Hurkacs, Musetti, Berretini, young Czech players, Etcheverry and many more.
    Hard time coming for even the settled mid aged players like Taylor Fritz, Zverev, Medvedev, Rublev, Shapovalov, Tiafoe. Tennis is getting younger these days.

    We have never seen so many sudden retirements as we had in the last 3 years, no medical time out just quitting right there on the spot. Nadal sadly with Moya publicly on instagram went and got military grade shots which would have contained more nano size smart graphene than for civilians. Many military I know have had heart issues after these concoctions some have died and my heart goes out to the victims. This strange pain in the torso is no joke and Rafa said it is like needles inside you. Just the other day Djere quit versus Tsitsipas like many, they do not take Medical time outs, they know to stop playing when there is needle like pain inside or risk SIDS. We have players that get these sudden sharp pains on the legs, arms, chest, back, hips and abs yet they all young. This is unprecedented in Tennis to have such physically amazing athletes just quitting with no medical time outs. It is sad and likely this Madrid and RG we might see Rafa will get some sort of send off and if he does he has a beautiful son for a new and more amazing stage in his life to come. Will be happy to see FEDAL and other playing competitive golf and even Touch tennis rather than that other low skill trend that Sock is wasting time on.

Even though the runner up Kasatkina congratulated Daniela that took a couple of minutes saying a lot of good words, during the winner speach Callins said only one word “Dasha” talking about herself, her team, tournament and crowd stealing all attention and being focused only on her own. It shows her behavior and personality even though she is very good as a player. That’s why a lot of players can’t stand her and not only for all her “commons” after opponents mistakes. 😢

As for the c'mons, having trouble finding any incident where she did that after her opponent hit a double fault...hitting a ball out is another matter. Garin vs Borges
    Someone in a crowd (supporter of Borges) called out and Borges ceased play and raised his left arm to his shoulder. He clearly ceased play and made zero effort to continue play. What his intention was I don't know, but you could equally make the argument that he was trying to convince his opponent that the call came from a linesperson and hence play should be stopped or he wanted to challenge the call, regardless this can be seen as hindrance.
    When Garin approached the umpire did Borges (knowing full well the crowd call impacted his opponent into making an uncharacteristic miss off a sitter) offer to replay the point? No. Is it showing good sportsmanship to benefit off a home supporter putting your opponent off mid point?
    Had Borges gone and offered to replay the point, most likely that would have been accepted and the outcome different.
    One more thing to think about. If you want to encourage people to enter umpiring, perhaps don't shame them when they make a mistake. All too easy to gain infamy because you made a call someone doesn't agree with.

    • @IntuitiveTennis
      @IntuitiveTennis  Місяць тому +10

      I did not see him raise the arm, he was looking at the mark and stopped playing. That’s not hinderance. Umpire needs to be called out for what was the worst call in ATP history. Garin deserves the negative press for taking the point…

    • @dakeras2410
      @dakeras2410 Місяць тому

      @@IntuitiveTennis I watched the video at 0.5 speed a number of times to make sure. When you challenge a call, you are meant to cease playing, which is what Borges did and indicate a challenge. I appreciate this is often a grey area in terms of having to make the challenge immediately, but seldom enforced against guys who inspect the mark first and then call the challenge.
      Regardless the rule on hindrance is simple. From ITF: "If a player is hindered in playing the point by a deliberate act of the opponent(s), the
      player shall win the point." Borges actions were deliberate and fairly clear to have hindered Garin. Umpires often do not call hindrance, but should. For example when Świątek waves her arms in the air when her opponent is about to smash. That's clear hindrance, just not called.
      Regardless of whether I am right or wrong, I just want to point out one thing. I'm a parent of a junior player and certified official. While I haven't received abuse myself, the amount of abuse parents and players hurl at officials result in officials who get paid very *little* to refuse to host tournaments or take on the roll of tournament ref. We cannot for love or money get *any* tournament ref's to give up their weekends to officiate at tournaments. Our roving officials are sub par because all the good officials also don't want to put up with abuse. The end result is that we have to employ a tournament referee over the phone to settle disputes and the only roving officials we can get are the ones desperate for money and let me not even start with desk officials. Perhaps consider how much these top flight ATP officials get paid and then ask yourself if its worth it? Is it really worth it to make 3,000 correct calls and then get abused online for the one you might have gotten wrong? I'll leave it at that. All I'm saying is that if my kid were to indicate an interest in becoming an ATP umpire, I'd tell him that is a very bad decision. That really should not be the case. Its okay for players and coaches to make mistakes... but not umpires?

    • @dakeras2410
      @dakeras2410 Місяць тому

      @@ninjal1750 Left arm. Raised it after stopping play to fix shirt, initial a challenge, point to area where call came from, who knows? Add to that the mitigating circumstances in an 'Out' call from the area where the linesperson sat and Borges ceasing play, Garin clearly felt it was hindrance. One would assume based on his uncharacteristic miss on the forehand out wide, it did in fact impact him.
      Again, not saying I'm right, umpires call could well have been wrong, but why is Garin a bad sport and yet Borgas did not offer to replay the point given that it was his own home supporters who called a call out just as Garin was about to put away a sitter? Borgas was more than happy to take the point while Garin was arguing with the ref.
