I have to say that Sinner is the “duck” coz he calm and serene on the surface (of the pond) but paddling like crazy underneath. Alcaraz would be the “chicken” coz he moves so fast, is light on his feet, and always optimistic. That leaves Medvedev as the “turkey” who wont back down and will fight back when threatened, a bit more noisy and very entertaining when you ruffle his feathers! Love the metaphor James

Sinner is seriously underrated. My sense is that he will dominate for years. On top of it, he’s way more popular than folks realize. His game is electric and he’s a quality human.

How is he underrated? He’s been the talk of the tennis world since winning AO. Ppl have even been downplaying Alcaraz in their race to crown Sinner the next World #1 & multiple major champ.

Saying Sinner can’t beat Alcaraz is incorrect… part of what makes their rivalry fun is their 4-5 head to head. (I love both of them!)

@@dan_gheesling_is_the_goat Dude, people are saying Sinner is so much better than Alcaraz for ages, not taking in account that Sinner is already 2 years older than Alcaraz. Then they say Sinner was skiing, blah blah...

Alcaraz at 20 years old: won 2 GS, 5 Masters titles, became the youngest World No.1 in tennis history ever. Sinner at 22 and already 2 years older than Alcaraz: won 1 GS, 2 Master titles. That's it so far for Sinner.

There will always be one Big 3, with 66 Grand Slams and almost 1000 weeks as number 1. My prediction is the new generation will have multiple slam winners, with Sinner and Alcaraz a little ahead.

I understand Roddicks take but I hope Alcaraz never loses his love of big shot making. As he matures he will likely get more selective as to when and when not to go for it, but that style is what makes him so thrilling to watch. There has also never been another player so balanced in terms of power, skill/feel, and IQ imo. I'm happy tennis finally has a next generation of young players deserving of the "torch," lead by Carlos.

fascinating times. easy to forget that novak has won 3 of the last 5 slams and was finalist and semi-finalisr in the other 2. i do feel though that there's a changing of the guard happening. personally, i'm rooting for jannik. his tennis is just so exciting to watch. let's see what happens. some epic tennis matches ahead, that's for sure.

I don’t think it’s worry abt the younger players, if anything I think that keeps him motivated. It honestly seems like he’s been going through something personal, like he did round 2017 when he had marital troubles. He seems to be going through a Tom Brady style problem where he’s torn between tennis & being a present Dad.

Interesting how they've all reached #1 in ranking now. So, now we need to see who is going to be the most consistently on top or will it keep changing hands? I already sense Daniil on a bit of a downturn as he's ranked #5 at the moment and he is the oldest of these three by a good number. My gut tells me it'll be Jannik. Carlos is already succumbing to injuries and mental lapses but he's the youngest.

Alcaraz and Sinner look a little bit above Medvedev right now. The rivalry between them will be the biggest in the following years it seems like. To me Alcaraz is a bit more complete, he's very good at identifying when to go forward, and uses varied shots like dropshots and slices more naturally than Sinner, he's excellent in clay but he's won Wimbledon too. However Sinner has improved a lot lately, not only his serve, but his instinct for going to the net (and the occasional use of dropshots too). It's a fascinating duel.

Having Medvedev there over Joker when Medvedev can only play on one surface is laughable. Can Medvedev win Rolland Garros? WImbledon? Knock it off. Joker still up there with the young boys. Also, I don't think Medvedev's game will age well. I'd put Casper or Fritz over him long term.

  • @got2bjosh

The Big 3 media moniker is the worst thing to happen to men's tennis since surface homogenization. It's lazy, reductive, anti-competitive, and attracts the most insufferable sideline braggarts. Let the Next Gen cohort do their own thing. The sooner we can move on from seeing everything through the lens of Big 3 media hysteria, the better. There is more to tennis than that rusty, readymade framework.
Not for nothing, Meddy is too old to be grouped with Sinner & Alcaraz regardless of his Top 5 ranking. He belongs with the previous generational cohort and y'all know it. We're already beginning to see him enter a different phase of his career. It would be more appropriate to look at players like Shelton & Rune when discussing Next Gen players (18-24) currently leading the way. Right now, it's more of a Dynamic Diarchy or All-Court Consuls in Alcaraz & Sinner.

People are just ruining "Big 3." This term Big 3 wasn't used until after Federer won 14 slams - and now people are tossing around "Big 3" for everything. Win one slam and oh my god, you're the new Big 3!!! It's a joke. Why? There's already a phrase - "top 3." This is how language becomes meaningless. "Awesome" and "epic" used to mean something extraordinary but now it's how people describe a loaded hot dog. Meaningless. There's only one Big 3 - Federer, Nadal, Djokovic - there will never be another Big 3. Just leave it alone. Stop messing up a good thing.
