This game has something that most games like this does not have, a upward (space bar) and downward (ctrl) movment, as in you go straight up or down without acctualy looking up or down. This alone adds a hole lot more to combat than just talegate the enemy over and over

Dude! When Splat had to name a galactic terror, and came up with a "Baba Yaga", has splat a huge smile on my face. 😁 Baba Yaga - extragalactic level if terror. 😅💚👍
Everspace 2 is a different take from the previous installment. While fun to play for some, it limits itself from the very reason we play the space genre. When you're engaged in battle, an obvious invisible wall impede your strategies to play out. You can't evade shots because of it, it's downright unrealistic... you're in space! It is vastly empty space you can use to maneuver your ship with extreme freedom. This alone, discourage us from playing it and opt for something else. There are numerous titles that are coming out and current ones to choose from without such ridiculous restrictions. Since it is a single player and the focus is on a single seater crafts, but we crave for a crew ship filled with life on board with fleshed out NPC characters interaction with one another, not just a shooting game which there are aplenty already. Something to consider developing future wise.
I am a fan of this type of games since Wing Commander (which I've even played on the Amiga 500, imagine that) and played the hell out of this series, Freelancer and of course 'I-War' and this looks definitely intriguing. But to be honest, the 40 € price tag for an early access game _and_ the level scaling are two quite massive bummers for me. We can talk about the price and there might be a sale, but level scaling is an absolute no-go for me.
Can't wait to grab this on console - finally exceeds my laptop capacity :( Everspace was one of my favorite space games / rogue-lite games ever! I put it on the same level as Dead Cells when it comes to rando adventures! pure masterpiece!

I like what they've done with this game. The campaign is looking nice. I wonder if they're going to fill in the missing frames or leave the animation in this stop-motion state? Seems like it wouldn't take too much to fill in the gaps, but I know next to nothing about the process, so maybe finishing it really is that resource-intensive. Or maybe they're doing it intentionally as a style choice, though I'm not sure I see it. I'm thinking about more basic Flash-type animation, where software can interpolate between two graphics and make a smooth animation. I guess in this case, there would be facial animations (probably prohibitive?). ...although I am seeing SOME animation like that here (15:37). ...so full animation should be possible. I guess they either don't want to for stylistic reasons, which is what I'm now guessing (WHY??) or just haven't done it yet.
Haven't seen Splatty make a series in years. What I do is spot games here and then look for people who make series about it.. Most out there are terrible though
Splat's series were his best work. Something about the way UA-cam revenue/promotion/awful corporate sleaze now functions made him reshape the channel as a mostly first-look thing a couple of years ago, which seems to have panned out. I do miss the series, though. Longer sessions do sometimes appear on his Twitch channel. He has close to four hours of gameplay for ES2 there right now.
