I picked this game up the first time you reviewed it and poured a ton of hours into it. While it's true you can't build anything on top of modules built into the floor or wall, your crew members can walk through those tiles, which is something that becomes important as your ship gets more and more cramped.
I bought this game after his first review, I’ve always made every person have “Star Trek” colors. The fact that he didn’t do it again... Now I have another way to do it!
You have to unassigned the shuttle from the bay and then you can dismantle the bay, build a new one, and then assign the shuttle to the new bay. Same for the mining drone docks. You can’t dismantle the bays until the ship is no longer in it.
I'm a huge fan of the developer BugByte, so I have really been looking forward to this game. I got it in an earlier build, and it's been amazing watching them build the game out.
I remember the first coverage you did and I already found it interesting back then, and it did slip out of my radar so thank you for the reminder Splatt', I've wishlisted now so I don't forget to check it out at some point. Kind of a shame we couldn't see more of the game and mechanics, saying that, this was enough to get me interested. There's a lot to do and to experiment with, if it's not done yet it has a lot of depth still.
machines are what determine the direction of power flow or if there is a direction wires are like lakes where you can draw a certain amount of volts at some amount of amps before fire occurs and melt the wire (or the circuit breaker trips) but its gets more complicated when you have more than 1 source in more than 1 location
9:34 "Gunnar" is actually a Norwegian name. The "u" is pronounced differently from in English, and differently from the word "Gun". The "a" is also pronounced differently. That said, the name essentially means "Warrior of war" or some such so it's suitable in that regard.
I wish the background moved a bit or had some animation to them, even a simple moving as you move the camera without animation would make out look not so static.
i really like the look of this game, and so thanks to watching this i legit just bought the game on steam.. plus turns out its discounted at the moment due to the summer sale 👍
I bought this in December. It's Great, but it still has some gaps. I found the AI isn't quite able to handle a more complicated ship. I spent too much time micromanaging once we got to certain complexity. When that gets in place, this game will be a lifestyle.
They should let you disassemble your base for resources, its a great way to kill yourself off when you lose the balance between what you need and what you want. They should also make monster corpses harvestable. Take the corpses (humans too) to a "mulching" machine to create fertilizer. Human feces makes normal fertilizer, human corpses make fertilizer+, and monster corpses make fertilizer++ (but has a small chance of spawning monsters inside you ship, and maybe crew; this chance should not be told to the player until the cause is "researched" in-game after it happens for the first time).
If somethings embedded in the floor or wall does it block movement? I think you really ought to do another video showcasing the gameplay after you're mobile and so on.
I was looking at the graphics and wondering if the Devs were from Doublefine as this does look a lot like Spacebase DF9 and I am still salty that DF abandoned it.
@@samronin1141 Same here. Still annoyed at Double Fine for stopping development of the game when people didn't buy the early access version anymore. I can understand when that happens with a dev team's first game when it's two guys working out of a garage on a shoestring budget, but DF were a pretty well-established studio even back then so in my book, that shit is unforgivable.
hmm....if that city/colony/ship building/resource mannagement got a pinch of rts mechanics to it for survival.....I can see myself scraping up some cash to get it... is it steam only or drm free on gog to ?
Definitiely. Base management was pretty much a carbon copy. Hopefully, this does better. With the mining pods and shuttle you have to unassign them, they’ll go hang out in space, then you can disassemble the bays, build a new one, and then reassign the ship to the new bay
I'd have to see what happens 'when the game starts', which I presume is when you leave in your spaceship. That base and ship building is all just part of an introductory set piece and feels completely artificial. I'm not even sure why it's even there.
Hey splat couple of indie games came out that I would like to see if any good Black legend a tactical game set in 17th century with alchemy and Arkham horror mothers embrace another tactical rpg where you investigate cults and murder
As lovely as the graphics are, I feel like the game would benefit from a huge visual simplification pass. The details just make the game look unnecessarily cluttered.
@@Void_Cultist Ah. I get it :) I personally haven't never seen a video within that amount of time. I guess that's what I get for waking up a bit early.
Can I offer some unsolicited advice on your videos as I think there is some great stuff you are doing. But what would be more engaging to watch would be 1) you give a quick edit overview of early game so you skip a lot of the tutorial stuff on the games. unless I am really into the game its rather uninteresting and getting past tutorial allows you to get to the more interesting parts and arguably truer representation of the game. 2) please stop reading out loud the written dialog. People read and then just wait for you to finish. Instead maybe comment on dialog at most
Splat: "Gunner is still a little bit grumpy...no he's not, he's fiiiiiine dude."
Gunmar: Suicidal...because Splat keeps saying his name wrong.
so did u lol

Please do another episode of this or post your stream. Would love to see where this game goes from here
Me too
I dont think he does that anymore, wich is a shame. This game desearves more than a video.
@@rogueninja185 36 minutes and he hardly scratched the surface... so keen for Alpha 13
Splat has christened his new ship, the HMS Check Engine Light.

Poor Gunnar just wanted to do a simple ship construction job, but was forced to kill space bugs. No wonder why he's suicidal :D he hates his life
Me to me: "why do those look familia.."
Splat: "...XCOM style.."
Me, out loud: "Oh that's why! thanks"

Splendid game! Needs polish but it is bursting with promise and is already fun to play.
Backed this as a Kickstarter and I havn't been disappointed.
Did anyone else notice that his ship was wonky?
YES!
Classic splat
Just noticed it and it definitely triggers the ocd but shape doesn’t actually matter in space ( still irks me slightly tho 😂 )
I'm a fan of Asymmetrical designs, but this was a failure of being Symmetrical xD
Thanks for the video Splat! Love your work! I enjoy these kind of "checking back in videos" a whole bunch.

one of the best video and game in this rich & vast channel
I've been waiting for this game to come out since they began working on it. Found the studio through their phone games. They were pretty nice.
The pods are from 2001: a Space Odyssey.
Lol, black guy in red shirt... it was nice knowing you.
The Red-Shirt is suicidal. I knew it. xD
Is that a VLDL reference? XD

finally an outstanding cutting edge sci fi visual ...
you nailed it Guys ...
Would love to see you actually continue to play!! Love it.. great job. Thank you for all the videos
Can you make a follow-up episode when the ship is built so people can see what gameplay looks like once you've got a functioning ship?

This would be a great game for a second episode of, you did your job and I wanna buy the game, but I would like to see more gameplay
Already on my wishlist! Looking forward to this one.
Great vid as always Splat. Giving the suicidal guy the shotgun though... :P
rimworld was all about pawn psychology spiced with colony management. Not a lot a of games of colony management deserve to be compared to Rimworld.

The one Black crew member and you put him in the RED shirt!!!! 😋
Shouldn’t the “Blacksmith” be called a Construction Engineer? I mean I seriously doubt he’s hammering at a forge.

I wish the refinery and manufacturing systems could have an "on demand" setting instead of "continuous or produce x."
I believe you can assign a build up to number to produce.
can't wait to start modding this!!!
