    That's great news indeed. I think my children wouldn't want to wander about the whole Colosseum inner parts anyway without complaining in the first five minutes 😂. Oh, I'm the one to say thanks for all those precious videos about Rome. But how can under-18s grab their tickets to enter Stern gate? Do we need to go to the ticket office at Largo Salaria Vecchia or only show the vouchers at the entrance? Tnx again 👍🏻

      @@felipeantoniazzi299 Thank you! I THINK that for under-18s for the ticket in this video (I've answered others in this comments section about this very topic!), you can try going to the ticket office in front of the Colosseum and letting them know you have tickets for the Stern gate entrance. I'd like to think they would not make you wait in that long line for the kids' tickets!

      @@Romewise Hi, Elyssa! That's me again. I've questioned the Parco del Colosseo team about the right procedure for the ones like me who bought tickets for the Arena 24h with children and that's their reply:
      "We would like to inform you that those between the ages of 0 and 17 are entitled to a ticket free of charge, which can be collected at the ticket office located in Largo della Salara Vecchia or the one located inside the Colosseum. In your case we request you to collect the tickets at the ticket office located inside the Colosseum.
      It will be required to present a valid identity document. No photocopies will be accepted.
      At the entrance there will be security checks, after which you will find the dedicated ticket counters.
      Kind regards,
      Helpdesk Team"
      So, that's it. I think it's a valuable information as far as this new attraction in Colosseum is concerned. 👍🏻

    Another great video Elyssa. When we went to the arena floor I just had to be Gladiator so when I stood with arms out stretched shouting "are you not entertained" and my wife just left me by myself and walked off. Just to add something we noticed when we were there a week or so ago, and this entrance was open. We noticed no one actually checking the colour of your sticker, or people had lost there sticker, and being let to go up to tier 2, and there were lots of green stickers that had fallen off people just on the floor, (eg my wife lost her full experience sticker almost on entrance) so it would have been very easy for anyone who used this new 24hr experience entrance to just just turn left as they exited the archway, and gone up to the next tier and the rest of the monument. Not saying that you should. But saying that you probably could. Now since we were there the checking of what ticket type you had may have got more strict . But it wasn’t when we we were there. Although we did have the full experience arena floor ticket. But no one asked to see it again once we came out of the arena floor.

    • @Romewise

Like seeing Marcus Aurelius' statue, seeing Severus' arch at the back of Capitoline Hill, seeing where St Peter and St Paul were held captive before their martyr deaths, seeing Basillica of Constantine at the exit, seeing Nero's underground palace, seeing Trajan's column, seeing Ceasar's and Octavian's statues, etc.

      The Attico is a Full Experience ticket.
      If you are asking if you can upgrade to a Full Experience ticket from a standard entry ticket, the answer is no.
      You can always TRY to purchase same-day Full Experience tickets (1. Arena Floor 2. Underground + Arena Floor 3. Attico) but because these are in such high demand, it's unlikely you will find same-day availability for them.

    Hi thanks for this video very helpful. I'm not sure whether to buy the 24H arena ticket or general 24h - COLOSSEUM, ROMAN FORUM, PALATINE ticket. Are the views from the arena better than the other levels? Is the arena generally less crowded? I'll be traveling with 2 seniors as well so like that the arena won't be too strenuous but in terms of photo ops not sure if the arena is better

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  15 днів тому +1

      Thanks for watching. These tickets are quite different from each other.
      These are the similarities:
      Both tickets include a single-access entry to the Roman Forum Palatine Hill
      Both tickets allow you to visit the inside of the Colosseum
      Both tickets allow you to look down into the underground
      These are the differences:
      The standard entry ticket gets you into the main levels of the Colosseum (1st and 2nd tiers), the inner rings, the permanent exhibit, and any temporary exhibit that might be on. No arena access.
      The Arena 24h ticket gets you into the arena only, with no access to the above.
      The standard entry ticket gets you access to the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill but not the SUPER sites.
      The Arena 24h ticket gets you into this park and ALSO the SUPER sites.
      For me, both allow great photo ops from inside. You may want the Arena 24h ticket as it's easier and shorter and there is less walking around.
      Also, I am a big fan of the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill and the SUPER sites, so that may make a difference to you.

    We are traveling to Rome in the end of August for 3 days, trying to book ticket in advance for Colosseum full experience but it shown not available online.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  20 днів тому +1

      The Colosseum releases tickets 30 days in advance. So if you want to buy tickets directly from the Colosseum website, you should start looking 30 days ahead of when you want to visit. You'll easily find standard entry tickets even closer to your date.
      The FULL Experience tickets are harder to come by, due to the limited supply and huge demand, so if you want one of those, you'll need to have patience, luck, and good timing. And keep trying.

    Thanks so much for the great video, Elyssa. Do you know how to order the free tickets for children and where do we pick them up once we arrive at Colosseum? Any ideas if the line to pick up free tickets for children is very long? I am debating if I should just buy the children tickets to avoid having to wait in line to pick up.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  22 дні тому

      Thank you! For children's tickets, if you purchase standard Colosseum entry tickets, you don't book them on the site. You just book your own. Then when you go to the Colosseum, go inside the monument with your tickets + your kids, and just after security but prior to going through the entry turnstiles, you will find a ticket booth there. That's where you can pick up your kids' tickets.
      If you are booking a FULL Experience ticket, then you can and must book a free ticket for your kids. It's one of the options when booking (free), and you just select that. Then you'll need to provide their names. Those tickets will arrive, like your adult tickets, in an email as a PDF with QR code.

      Tickets for the visit shown in this specific video are also fairly available.

If we b-line directly to the Sistine Chapel at 8:00 am-ish, after spending 25-30 mins in there, can we get back to the stuff we skipped at the beginning? Or, will we only need able to hit the final corridor before being forced to exit? Said another way, Instead of exiting, can we just start anew with the crowds having already gone through security.

      Entry for kids under 18 is completely free.

      So, for example, if you book a standard guided tour of the Colosseum for 2 adults and one child under 18, you'll pay 2 regular priced entry tickets, 1 free ticket, and 3x8€ for the tour.

      @@abipopoola2390 If you are booking a guided tour, there is an option to book a free ticket. You have to click that and expand it and you'll see that one of the conditions is for kids under 18.
      If you are purchasing a standard entry ticket to the Colosseum, without a guided tour, then you cannot book a child's ticket. You book your adult tickets, and when you get to the Colosseum, go inside the monument and head straight to the ticket office there to pick up your free tickets. This internal ticket office is before the turnstiles to actually enter the monument.
      The FULL Experience tickets, on the other had, require that you book your kids' tickets and provide their names. They are still free but the book procedure is slightly different.

    If i bought a guided tour ticket in a different language, say Italian or Spanish thar i don't speak, how can i make it work?
    Can i listen to my own downloaded narration or just look around?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  22 дні тому

      You could use an audio guide, such as the free one in the Colosseum's own app, with earbuds, as long as no sound emanates that could interfere with the tour guide speaking. Or you could study up on it beforehand, and simply enjoy looking around while the guide speaks.

    Thank you so much. Your videos are fantastic! I’ve just booked the 24H Only Arena tickets. I have one question - after exiting the Stern gate, how would I enter the Forum / Palatine Hill from there?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  26 днів тому +2

      Thanks for watching! Glad you found it helpful! The Roman Forum / Palatine Hill have many entrances. The two closes to the Stern gate are on the Via Sacra at the Arch of Titus (where you will likely find long lines) and on via di San Gregorio (where you may find shorter lines depending on the time of day.)
      There are many more entrances and I will have a dedicated video out about this very soon!

    I take it "within 24 hours" means we could visit the Forum either before or after the Colosseum? Neither the website nor my reservation email is 100% clear on how Forum access works. In fact, regarding Forum entrance the ticket says "time table visible within the booking email" while the email just says see attached ticket for details of visit, lol! 🤷

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  23 дні тому +1

      Yes you are correct. Every Colosseum ticket (with the exception of the night tour, which are not currently available in any case) comes with a one-time access to the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill (one park).
      You may enter this park up to 24 hours on EITHER side of your Colosseum entry time.
      So, for example, if you have a Colosseum entry time of 2pm on Tuesday, then you may use your single-entry to the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill anytime from 2:01pm Monday (until closing that day), anytime Tuesday from 9am until your Colosseum visit, even Tuesday AFTER your Colosseum visit (up to closing time, which changes depending on time of year), up to 1:59pm on Wednesday.
      You must enter within 24 hours of your Colosseum time, but once you enter, you can stay in the park as long as you like.
      So if according to the above example, you went on say, Wednesday morning at 11am, you could stay in the Forum / Palatine until closing time.
      The important thing is to ENTER the park within 24 hours of your Colosseum ticket.

      @@frankfariello2347 My pleasure! Yes, you definitely can visit the Forum / Palatine earlier in the day. I suggest going first thing in the morning, with a plan in mind to see as much of the park and as many of the sites and SUPER sites as you want to see because once you exit, you can't go back in with the same ticket. Then give yourself a little time for a break in between that visit the the Colosseum visit. Enjoy!

    The city of Rome should redo some of the buildings in the Roman Forum. What is the city of Rome doing with the proceeds that they get from tourists who visit this attraction?
    For example, Greece redid the Stoa of Attalos and it looks magnificent and tourists can really appreciate what it looks like in antiquity, albeit with modern cement.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  26 днів тому +1

      This is an excellent question but it's complicated. There are many different entities that manage sites around Rome. For example, the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill are managed by the state of Italy, while the Fori Imperiali are managed by the City of Rome. There are many other entities involved and factors at play.
      At the moment, much of Rome is under renovation due to the upcoming Catholic Jubilee in 2025. We should see quite a lot of changes/improvements by the end of this year!

      @@Romewise OK. Thanks for the info. The state of Italy should redo the Pantheon that's near the Arch of Constantine as you enter the Roman Forum. I can't remember the name of that Pantheon but it has a female name.

      @Romewise  26 днів тому +1

      @@lilpenny1982 Hmmm, I'm not sure which monument you are referring to. There is a round temple inside the Roman Forum called the Temple to Romulus (named not for Rome's legendary first king but rather for the son of Emperor Maxentius who died at a young age and was deified.) There is another monument dedicated to a woman, the Temple of Faustina. Perhaps you are referring to the Temple to Vesta, for which the Vestal Virgins were named? If so, they have indeed restored much of it in recent years.

      @@lilpenny1982 Well, just to the right as you enter the Roman Forum from the via Sacra there is the Temple of Venus and Roma. That, too, has recently been restored.
