    Miss this with Cb radio here in Sweden.
    I have drive trucks sense 1990 so 33 years now and lots have changed tro the years.
    No truckers ower here have CBs in the trucks now day's.
    The Cb die out in the end of the 90s when cellphones get cheaper to buy and youse.
    What i can miss is the camaraderie that was between drivers in the past. Now more and more it feels like there is no professional pride among drivers here anymore. Just go inside a truck stop where you sit by yourself with your phone. we used to sit at a long table and talk to each other. how is it in the usa
    Ps sorry fore my bad English spelling.
    Best regards from Snowman in. Sweden

      @danielseelye6005 Рік тому +5

      That's correct. The three cylinder diesel in the APU is tied into the Cat's cooling system so as the APU runs to create heat in the cabin, it pushes the coolant into the engine block, thus warming it up for easier cold starting.

    🤠 FSC Orville DRIVER ! AND GREETINGS FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE. I enjoy your UA-cam videos and it's nice to see an old school Pete cabover still getting it done.
    I'm a retired trucker, former flatbed pallet hauler, touring band member, and farmer.
    I trained to drive CDL but my music career conflicted too much with the schedule. But I did own 4 flatbed straight trucks and pickups for a little while. The pride of my fleet at that time was the 76 Louisville form truck converted to an 18 ft flatbed. Keep the and the Rubberside down.

    Drove for Sam Tanksley when they had the new Pete's, White with the Blue stripes. Loved those double sleepers & 13 Speeds. Sam died and the partners wife took it over. It was the Harris Corporation that owned a Pete dealership in St. Louis and a Dorsey Trailer dealership in Cape Giraudoux, MO. It was nice to have new Equipment. Thanks for the ride along; sure brings back memories. In the early 90's most companies were converting to long nose. I'm one of the weirdos that like driving in snow and ice. Sad these days, only the old school drivers can throw a set of chains on. I'm glad my first few yeah over the road was for a small company and an O/O. The small company sent us to the northwest with a single screw COE Int'l (small cab) pulling doubles. THAT was fun going from Spokane to Lewiston in the dead of winter. Thank goodness there was no storm. I was so glad when the conv. cabs took over the market. It wasn't long before the sleeper door opened up so you could sit on your bed and get dressed LOL but I would buy a Double sleeper Pete in a heart beat, but I'm aiming for retiring from trucking soon.

    Nice relaxing video FSC. Your videos bring back some memories for me. What I don’t miss is waking up and there is snow everywhere and it’s cold. But that’s part of trucking. I wished I could still do it but reality tells an entirely different story. Anywho FSC times have changed. Even when I was out there chatter on the CB was getting way out of control, the content was for adults only. The CB was starting to loose its appeal it once had. Well FSC have a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring.

    Had no idea the roads were that torn up. I think that may actually be worse than Kawlifornia's "freeways," which are falling behind in repairs. Also, the very wet winter has the base getting mushy, and sinkholes eroding out under the lanes in a lot of places. Thanks for the sights, Steve.

    • @fsctrucking
      @fsctrucking  Рік тому +3

      @Daniel Seelye my 379 had a fridgette APU. It worked good at first. Then it started to fail. The company went under and no parts were available. That unit was before Green APU was a thing. It also was a single cylinder and struggled to start in the cold once it had a few hours on it.
      The Green APU is a 3 cylinder Kubota. Starts fast, even cold.

    My biggest detractor of keeping my radio turned up is hard drive whining all day that he gets no respect. Some of you would say tune him out but he hits my radio no matter where I’m at. Pretty much if your chasing skip or anything other than relaying emergencies or truck to truck chatter there are 39 other channels to do your business.

    I find that a good deal of the newer breed of steering wheel holds don't even have a CB. Some that do don't speak English and talk on a channel other that 19. When I used to live in Vermont way back when I used to catch the Canucks from Quebec on 14running power just to talk to one of their buddies less than a mile down the road.. I used to run power back then as well but i used to go up to a tall mountain to talk to people 50+ miles away.
    So far so good and unless something drastic happens I will be at MATS.
    Stay safe.
