Gen Xer here too and I just got a bunch of samples from Lucky Scent. I received the feminine, the unisex and the vanilla lovers. I'm excited to try them all! I recommend Be Layered and Alexandria fragrances. You can order samples from them as well and they are spray versions I clean empty spray samples and use them for the ones like Lucky Scent sends; because I agree that there is a difference between spray and dab application. Cassili wasn't a love for me when I first tried it. . . I came back to it and ended up buying a bottle (a bargain on Ebay) because it smelt so beautiful on my skin, youthful sweet and classy in a tropical way 🧡💖
I just ordered a dozen or so samples from luckyscents.com, including your two keepers and Tihota, which I’m excited to try. I hope not to get the play dough smell, but I do know exactly what you mean. I’m currently burning a vanilla birthday cake candle that smells like vanilla and play dough! I watched another reviewer today who said that the Rouge 540 perfume is nearly identical to a Ariana Grande perfume in a cloud shaped bottle. It may be worth checking out both before spending so much. Thanks for your review! I’m going to check out your other videos, as it sounds like we have similar tastes on favorite notes and both love perfumes. Best to you!

Try atelier des ors lune feline Jeroboam insulo or mona di orio vanille the top 3 vanillas around as well as Guerlain spiriteuse double vanille I don't mind Tihota but it's not my favourite vanilla I just bought Grand Soir by Maison Francis Kurkidjian try ylang in gold by M Micaleff or vintage Guerlain Vanille & ylang , classic vanilla Shalimar! You're not crazy I agree spraying does make a difference to the scent and how it wears I can't stand anything from Juliet has a gun totally discordant perfumes and jarring
Have you tried outremer vanille? Its only $18 from anthropologie.com. I also have a problem with fragrances lasting, but I heard that vanilla is awesome for the price!
I'm about the same age as you and remember those 80s scents you mentioned ☺ Are you familiar with Givenchy Amarige? It's a gorgeous, bold, warm floral by Dominique Ropion. That one was more early 90s but its sooo good. You can still get the EDT easily online. I just had to order it when I smelled it on someone recently.
