For all people who wants to change the Bulbs. Tip Tip... everything he did is correct but he could not pull the speedometer reason is it is connected to the speedocable so go under the hood disconnect the cable from the Cruisecontrol unit there are two take the cable what goes into the firewall and disconnect from cruise unit. when this one is disconnected you can pull the speedometer far enough towards you and you can change the bulbs. if you want to take the whole speedometer out to service disconnect the cable from speedometer as well. Job done.!!

Das steht mir bei meinem 1979 98 auch noch bevor. Vielen Dank für den Einblick!

Very cool. I just picked up a 79 Regency, so my plan is to replace all the bulbs with white LEDs. I'm also going to cut a small hole just above the headlight knob and mount a light there (strange GM didn't do this as they put a pin light over the cigarette lighter/rear defog switch). Those speedos are a pain to get apart and reassemble. I've already found Twilight Sentinel and the gauges, plus the pulse wiper and motor, so I'll upgrade those, too. Last up is the digital cassette deck from the 93-94 98 Regency (it has separate bass and treble controls) sent to get retrofitted with modern amp and internals plus and AUX in line. Great cars, but no fun to work on :). Thanks for posting this video.

Nice car to work on ,I change my cluster and the dash board in my car once I found there was torque screws in the two front defroster top vints also holding the dash in place.

Word it took me a while finding out what was holding the dash pad in .For i also changed the cluster carrier and dash pad in my 1980 oldsmobile delta 88 royal brougham.

What i find interesting is everybody sells the dash speedometer and radio bezels, but nobody pulls out the cluster carrier.Or the back part that holds all those parts on.They do get brittle from age and some times piece break while servicing them.I use to come across them more often for sale on ebay back in the day.

The headlight knob stays on the shaft. The shaft for the headlights go into a box like unit and on the side of said box is a button, push it in and remove the knob and shaft.

How do you change them on a 1987 oldsmobile cutlass supreme? It's the 4 door 3.8 V6 sedan. & will the 168 size bulbs work for the instrumental panel lights?

On my 1980 oldsmobile delta 88 ,I have the same setup. If you have the cruise control transducers you can disconnect the speedometer cable from there.then you could pull the whole unit forward.Other wise you might have to disconnect at tail side of transmissions .

Since my wiper switch is above the headlight switch non intermittent, I converted it to intermittent, using a 1979 oldsmobile delta 88 intermittent wiper switch looks the same as the 1980 with pulse and a1973 Buick pulse wiper motor with the two connectors outside the wiper motor.didn't have to touch the original Gm wiper motor harness at all.

How did you put your stereo where the ashtray goes? I’ve been searching everywhere to find a video

I just removed the ashtray, first i had a benzi box set up ,where i slid the radio in and out of it's cage. Now i replaced it with a face off.drilled a few holes in the upper metal plate of the ash tray housing mounted the radio slide in cage.Slid in the radio wired it up ,now face off.

I even wired up an original oldsmobile cutlass style third brake light that fully lights on braking. And also signals left and right with signal lights or combines as a brake on one side and signal light on the other.
