I grew up around these cars when the adults drove them daily, and they often had something special in the garage. That something was usually a drum set, a boat, or a really cool car. These days, those things are eye-wateringly expensive, yet your Olds is still obtainable. Hang on to that thing. It's beautiful!

Great ! I took my 81 Oldsmobile Delta 88 to a car show . These were great cars for the time and slowly gaining popularity in the classic car hobby.

Nothing beats the reliability and the solid feeling of GM B and D bodies. But, like everything else, they get old. Especially the plastic parts which are hard to find!

My parents had 1 Super Nice Car. Best of everything. Did everything exceptionally well. Except the slug 307 wouldnt do 100 mph down an elevator shaft. Time it in the 1/4 mile with a calender use a Sun Dial for a tachometer. So slow you had to leave a day ahead of time. I dont know what Olds engineers were thinking a 307 in a nearly 3 ton car. The transmission also constantly shifted locking up never finding a gear it liked. A good ol 455/Turbo 400 combo would fix everything.

Yeah not much for power. It will pull down highway but haha that’s about it. I wouldn’t be opposed to swapping someday if that motor goes. Otherwise I’d rather keep it original.

@@ClassicOldsmobile Oh everybody knows they did it for mileage thats no secret, but draw the line somewhere for crying out loud. I think theirs got 18 on the highway maybe a lil better.

Had a 1981 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency. Named him Burt.
Burt cost me $900 and had a dent in the driver door and the driver window didn’t work. With good all season radials Burt went thru snow like number two thru a goose.
I’ve had a lot of cars in my life including a small block Chevelle. Out of all them Burt was the one I remember the fondest and I wish I still had him today. He developed some issues and I was very poor so I sold him. I regret it.
I also had a 1980 Delta 88 Royale with over 300,000 miles. It was a good car but it wasn’t Burt.
