Tbh honest they've been on life support since a while, THE DISEASE IS NOW TERMINAL. I mean, think ab it, the only thing that kept twitch alive was drama. The twitch con foam pit, large creators cancelled or straight up banned. None of that is good for a platform especially when, Adin Ross for example, after getting banned moved on Kick, his audience did too, ditching twitch in the process. Not to mention other stupid decisions too...
I feel like I can’t get myself to focus on the long livestream time, but I like the creators on there. It’s also great background noise for me while I’m doing something else. I’m actually disappointed though because of the whole hogwarts thing and the bullying of streamers that played the game. I think that if I just replaced my internet use with working, then I wouldn’t be as cuckoo as I am when I hear about this stuff. I don’t know.
Yeah I refuse to watch twitch streams because im supposed to be watching something LIVE and I get yanked out for 1-2 mins for ads. I pay for UA-cam premium because it's worth it compared to how many UA-camrs I watch. I don't watch enough twitch streamers to warrant paying.
It's true TikTok is that main platform where you can gain viewership immediately and if transfer to UA-cam you are instantly in million sub count. I've seen it from other TikTokers that I follow and for that I'm trying to do the same. It's a bummer Twitch is dying, I was thinking of going on there to do some cute cosplay content but ah well.
UA-cam shorts is the most effective to get popular. Even on tiktok, i only got like a maximum of 10 views. With yt shorts i got like 3,000 or 4,000, even though my channel had no subs. Yt shorts have way more reach. Tiktok favours you only if you're beautiful or is a teenage girl twerking or some bs.
I wanted to be a twitch creator but the first time i went onto their platform and i couldn't even find any way to see smaller creators it only showed me popular creators
I feel like why some people are still on Twitch is because YT DMCA is a royal pain with Rhythm Games (A song named Afterlife by A7X comes to mind for a fairly recent incident)
I do agree that Twitch is not what it could be. But before we say it's dead.... let's fact check some stuff. Twitch has been earning more and more revenue per year. In 2022 alone, Twitch pulled in 2.6 Billion in revenue. Keep in mind, where Amazon owns twitch, I'm sure server operating costs are not as high as they could be for an average client. Is it dying? Not yet. But it's bleeding. I don't mind or care that it's a 50/50 split on subs. What bothers me, is Bits. The mark up on Bits is stupid insane. As a Canadian, if I want to buy $1 in bits for a streamer I like, I have to pay about $2. That means Twitch is making nearly 100% profit when it comes to 100 bits. And it incrementally increases like this as you go up... for example 500 bits is almost $10. I'm also sick of exchange rates being shoved into play at every corner. Subs are priced per exchange rate, but it's not a fluxuating number. So if the CAD goes up a bunch tomorrow and catches up to USD, the CAD sub will still not be adjusted instantly to reflect that change. So you'll get ripped off for a while before they adjust. I used to want to stream, now I just feel like I have to be careful what I say, how I say it, when I say it. Careful what I do, who is around, what is done in the background etc. Hell, I can even be held responsible for other peoples actions. No thanks.
Revenue doesn't equal profit though. Based on most accounts, Twitch is operating at a loss. Even the most favorable outlook says twitch is almost breaking even. With the decrease in viewership and the push for ads, not to mention the increase in competition, I can definitely see twitch declining and dying in the future. Not to mention Amazon itself didn't do well in 2022. Their earnings were lower than expected and most people are predicting an even worse 2023 for them. Amazon is not just going to let Twitch just bleed money through prime subs especially when the Amazon shareholders get pissed that their stocks aren't doing well.
I wish it would die so my favorite streamers will finally just use UA-cam instead. It’s annoying having to look for someone to upload the streams way after they aired on twitch.
Twitch's streaming tools and connections are crap. There's always some sort of stupid technical problem with its streams. God forbid you don't turn off the Hardware Acceleration in your browser.
Twitch isn't dying. Kick isn't competition, it's just another alt right internet platform that'll die in a month. Big streamers moving to it will do nothing.
Pegasus gonna celebrate hard the day twitch completely dies
We all will
