I love my 2001 Sprint ST. The 955 triple is an amazing engine. This is my first Triumph though I’ve been riding over 55 years. I’ve had the ST for 4 years now and I can’t find anything I don’t like about it.
Paid a little over 2000$ Canadian for a mint 2000 model year in Eclipse Blue. It might be a little ugly and top heavy at low speeds but apart from that, this is probably the most balanced and best bike for the money in the used market. Whatever you want, it can do it well. It takes off like a missile from any given RPM and never runs out of breath, even modern Z1000 and MT09 can't get ahead (tested). It handles like on rails and stays planted like a rock even at high speeds. The front brakes are incredibly powerful, overpowered almost, and can stand the bike up from any speed. The riding position is sporty yet never uncomfortable, I can do 4-5 hour rides without feeling tired. Best of all, it gets 47mpg without even trying. I've put 15,000km (9000mi) on mine in a year and never had an issue. It's literally a VFR killer with much more character for a fraction of the cost.
Aussie here. I bought a 2002 model new in Lucifer Orange. The Triumph dealer wired the headlights so both were on in low beam and high beam. Sold it in 2007 with nearly 70,000klms on the clock. Fantastic mile muncher and totally reliable.
I used to have one. Not much to look at but was a PERFECT bike in terms of function. Very very well balanced package and it could go like a raped ape when you gave it a good twist. The handling and braking was simply surgical. In my humble opinion one of the true classics even if bling value = zero
I thought they were beautiful. I own a Tiger 800 now but I've had 5 Triumphs. christopher-king.blogspot.com/2013/02/hey-kingcast-is-ol-yaller-coming-home.html
The later models - 2004/5 - as Triumph ran the model out of production, came without the RS graphics on the fairing (better for it in my opinion) but more importantly they used the ST's single sided arm - more convenient for tyres but more unsprung weight
Just picked it up yesterday. I'm not to keen on the RS graphics either but at least they didn't clear over those so I can get them off without too much fuss. I got an 02 btw.
Blind2Society Cool, hope you enjoy it. I left my RS graphics on because from the forums I learned that they can leave their outline image once removed - might be worth checking out first
StNige Thnaks, I'm loving it so far. I didn't think about the outline they may leave behind, that's a good point. Although, I wondering if the ghostly outline would look better than the graphics themselves or even if it could buff it out. Btw, which forum is it you go to?

Just about to buy one and can't wait. My first 'big' bike after passing my test last year.
I often regret selling my RS - they really are great all round machines, and mine sounded lovely with the carbon can
Tell me the downsides please?

I'm wondering if there is that bike still sitting there unattended in the English Countryside.
I'm looking to pick one of these up shortly and this is a great vid, thanks.
