No, I don’t have kidney stones but I do have a stent that runs from my kidney into my bladder. They put it in at the hospital while I’m under anesthesia. Sometimes they take it out at the doctors office while I’m awake and it hurts like heck. I hope you’re OK Mary.

Yep, they are awful. I usually get extreme pain in my lower back. Sipping Apple Cider Vinegar, applying heat to the pain area and strong pain medication can help see you through it. It depends on how bad it is though, some require medical treatment. Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar diluted in water every day can help keep them away.
Ugh I had my first stone when I was nineteen. The first trip to the emergency room doubled over in so much pain I was throwing up, white, and sweaty we thought it was another kidney infection because I'd had several of those in the past with similar symptoms. I felt better after fluids, pain meds, and started antibiotics and went home taking my antibiotics thinking I would be good. Three days later it was back, and so much worse. I was home alone and I called my apartment manager down. She took one look at me curled up on the bathroom floor and called 911. She thought my appendix had burst. They found the stone, gave me a strainer to pee through and catch it, I passed it and took it in for pathology. It was 80% calcium and 20% oxolate. It was a tiny little yellowish white crystal and my doctor said I should have it mounted in a ring, that it cost more than a diamond with all the medical bills it wracked up lol. I've had at least a dozen more since then, my Lord I can't believe that was almost thirty years ago yikes!

Glad Mary is feeling better. As for Peter, All it takes is the right cat and everything changes lol. My husband wasn't a cat person either till the right cat came along. Now he is a total cat daddy. He needs that shirt too lol.
My dad built his work bench in the garage with an old countertop and table legs or 4x4s. Super cheap and easy. Then hang a peg board on the wall behind it to organize your tools however you want.
My six yr old feline is so aware and protective on flare/bad days. It's so cute to see Peter loving the newest Frey family member. 😺
Truth: No one is a cat person until they get their first cat. Then you can't believe you never knew. I feel as if i need to go back over my life and apologize to all the cat people I used to mock.

I'm not a cat person either, but damn, my cat, I love him like crazy, he is my baby. I can't spend 5 minutes without looking at him or looking for him. And he loves the attention so, glad I can give it to him. I feel you Peter!

Hi Guys , I saw your thumb-nail and thought not again , so glad all is well . I think that island idea is great , but you are right -- you will need to design something like that , an island with a sink >> would be too complicated for many and to costly to mass produce , plus stuff is always better when it is 100% yours , you designed it & made it !! Glad you have boating plans , down your way , spring will come shortly.

I've had my share of kidney stones, and I was NEVER a happy camper when they were moving! The pain takes your breath away, and no laying or sitting position is comfortable. My last kidney stone had to be removed going through the wah-who!! LOL!! Anyhow, haven't had any issues since then thank goodness. Mary, I hope your pain resolves quickly!!

Alot of shelters can use boxes or thrift stores can use them
Use a metal trash can for bird seed outside so rodents don’t get in it. The silver round ones with a tight fitted lid works great.

My mom swore by it, but it never worked for me. My doctor called it an 'old wives tale'. I don't know. I just drink a lot of water every day and I'm always fine now.

I'm scared I have a kidney stone. I have so much pain with urination with blood in my urine. I DO have a UTI but have developed severe flank pain. Having bilateral surgery on my knees so I wont tell anyone in case they cancel my surgery. Oh please feel better Mary!! Next time you guys smoke a brisket you can send an invitation, lol. Had kidney stones before ON THE EVE OF MY WEDDING! Oh yeah, I thought I was going to die because I didn't know what was wrong. The pain was far worse than child birth. Sorry you are going through this Mary. Hope you figure out what is wrong. As for Harry, he is just the best cat. He almost makes me want a hairless cat but not quite. I just love him and Ollie does too. He licks him like a lolly pop. Take care dear.

A small aside - when you take vitamin D a good precaution is to take vitamin E too so that calcium goes where it should and doesn't form stones. I thought I would put this here in case the Virtex is doing something similar and vitamin E might help to bind the calcium and not cause stones (if that's what's causing it)

I am just watching this. Mary I am so sorry!!!😞 My oldest (28) Daughter has been battling kidney stones on and off for months now. She has passed several. My daughter said when the worse parts would start it was worse than childbirth! Hope you are feeling better!😊

I was wondering the same thing about the vertex.
For all those who have suffered kidney stones. Kidney stones can form from drinking too much juice (citric acid) or soda pop. You have to pass and catch the stone to have it analyzed to see what it is comprised of to know what may be causing it. Drinking lots of water can help pass smaller stones. Only drink pop or juice as a treat now and again.
That food prep island on the deck sounds interesting. Is Peter going to create a design & build video (or vlog sequence) for that?
Ive had the same issue several times now. It was mis-diagnosed a uti also. I realize now ( hope not tmi) but it went along with being constipated!

Yes, I had a kidney stone too. It was the worst pain I ever experienced. Drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. Hope you feel better soon.
I had to quite drinking well water when I got mine. Now it purified water or drinking water even distilled water. I haven't had another one since. But it was the well water. Ours had alot of calcium in it. Yet the rest of the family can drink it if the want and have no problem with it.
Btw, not drinking enough fluids, being dehydrated causes them too. And it's common to have them back to back. Honestly, the Medical Profession has done studies, and the latest is, being intimate will help w/movement w/ks.
Mary - feel better! Hope it subsided soon! Peter- just an idea - maybe a trip to your local humanity for habitat store to find a affordable butcher or island table yet sink. Just an idea mate for a repurpose DIY project for your smoker que paradise station. Ollie ans Harry stay warm! Woof Meow

You may want to ask your doctors if they think it’s advisable to keep a 24 or 48 hour void log since your urine output has increased a lot on vertex to make sure that you aren’t retaining urine.
I just had an operation to remove two huge kidney stones. The pain is awful! They were too big for me to pass. One of them was 17MM and the other one was slightly smaller. I am so glad they are gone!
Hoping for your sake Mary that it is NOT a kidney stone! I pass a stone every 2-3 weeks, and just had my 10th operation this time last month to remove a stone too large to pass. I am 40 this year, and this has been going on since I was 16/17yrs old, possibly since I was 10. Stones really really suck. They hurt. Alot. My condition has developed into chronic pain now as well. Just remember it can take a few weeks to pass a stone sometimes! The pressure you were feeling might have been the same as what I get when a stone is dropping into the bladder. It's a really odd sensation. Hope you stay feeling better :) Love to Ollie and Harry too!

Kidney stones. Had a few. If you are able to catch one (they have this plastic bucket/strainer you put over the toilet seat to pee into) have it checked for composition. Then you will know what or if a change in your diet would help. My remedy (not oxalate type) is lemonade every afternoon. Lots of water. Keep it up !! And pray. All the best from one adoptive family to another - son adopted as newborn then daughter at 3 months from Korea and our youngest daughter was 6 from foster care.
When you go to Walmart there is an OTC medicine ( ask the Pharmacy) It will help the pin. Also warm water, lemon juice mixed with olive oil will help the kidney stone shrink.

Yes, I have had kidney stones, and they are awful. I had a 6mm and I could not get comfortable in any position. If the pain gets bad go to the hospital. They will give you medicine, and trust me... you will feel nothing then. I really hope you feel better soon. 🤗💖

Be careful storing birdseed outside. I had it in a plastic tote and squirrel and opossum chewed right through the plastic to get to the birdseed! It was the heavy duty plastic bin too no the see through plastic!
I have a genetic predisposition to kidney stones and had to have my first one removed at 16. I get them several times a year. In fact, I was just recently hospitalized to have one removed at the beginning of this month. My urologist recommends anything with citric acid in it as it helps make stones more brittle and most likely to break up so they don’t cause issues.
My boyfriend has issues with his knee due to football injuries from high school along with getting shot while in the army. Today we found out he may have to get surgery on it in order for him to even be able to walk again. Praying.

Just a thing to consider: since you have to eat stuff when taking trikafta, maybe this change in diet might be causing the kidney stones? So, not necessarily trikafta itself, but other changes in your eating habits and lifestyle. I think especially if you eat dairy products at the same time as certain other foods or drinks with oxalates that might cause it. Or possibly dairy + trikafta. Maybe make sure you're getting your calcium separate from oxalates or try to decrease oxalates altogether?

Try drinking some lemon juice or lemon in your water. Also at some of the natural food stores they have some stuff that’s for kidney stones and it works wonders. I can’t think of the name of it.

Stupid kidney stones! Ugh 😩.Had one and went to ER twice. It made it so far and then got stuck , got UTI for extra fun. Finally passed though. Incredibly painful and you don’t forget it.
