i went here when I was 15 years old ...for a minor in possession charge , a misdemeanor. I was supposed to get sent to a different youth camp like medium security facility but they were full....so I got stuckk at this maximum green hill school , a 15 year old bookworm Hispanic kid , locked up with 20 21 year old drive by shooters and killers and such .needless to say i has never been around so many violent dudes . When but 13 years old I was determined "incorrigible" and sent to a juvenile camp for the horrible "crime" of ditching two weeks of school! I had no prior record of arrests, vandalism, threats of or acts of violence...zip! Others at the camp were attempted murderers, rapists, thieves and, like me, kids just caught up in a lousy juvenile system. In those days, 1940, they had truant officers whose job was to track down and arrest juvenile offenders of school attendance laws. We were forced to use ten pound sledge hammers to break up granite rocks for road construction and small "single jacks" to break up these rocks into gravel-size stones, all under the blazing sun up in the Sierra Navada Mountains in Southern California. Many of us passed out from exhaustion and the heat. If you violated any rule, the camp officers would make you chew lye soap until you could spit it out through your teeth. Left a bad scar in my mouth. If you tried to run away and were caught, you were sent to even worse places reserved for nonconforming kids. Got released after five months and four days. Went back to school but dropped out when 16 and joined the Merchant Marines and sailed in the South Pacific during World War ll. Looking back on those hellish days in the camp, I consider myself one of the lucky ones...those who didn't go on to become criminals or drug addicts.
I can relate. I was incarcerated at 16 for beating up a cop. I thought I was a tough guy but being in their you learn something you can't learn at school. my respects to all faculty members helping the trouble your. I hope one day I can inspire change in others.
Welcome to the daily Hell our country puts young black and hispanic men through. I understand the severity of his crime. But theyre giving black and hispanic youths 5-15 yrs for selling drugs, break-ins, gun charges, and very petty crimes. I was put in jail for 17 days for poss of marijuana. I had a blunt in a rello pack in my sock, and I got searched during a traffic stop. White guys I was in court with were on their 3rd DUI, which in ky is supposed to be a felony charge. They were giving these mfs 10 days home incarceration for multiple DUIs, poss of drugs(like me), terroristic threatning, assaults. Long story short, I was given more time than any white male in court with me. Yet their crimes were more severe and harmful to others. We're targeted, then get harsher sentences for smaller or equal crimes. If youre white and sell Heroin you need rehab, if youre black and smoke weed you need jail?
Society sees black people as thugs so everything they do it’s seen as “worse” and it’s really sad. I’m sorry for what you’ve been through I can’t imagine how it would feel being surrounded by people getting better treatment and second chances because of their skin color. This is coming From a white person I want the system to get better....
Heartbreaking how an intelligent kid that could achieve anything he wants in life ends up in this situation. You have to answer from your actions but how many of us have faced the same choices and made better ones. I'm so blessed to have never been around gang life.

You can tell that educating himself in jail has given him insight and perspective in life. I hope that he continues to his self education and seeks knowledge as a means to get out of that lifestyle he was living.
I was sentence to 15 years when I was 16 yrs..I was the youngest in prision and yes ended I had to prove my heart there.. Being south sider or northern ain't easy, took me 29 years to finally walk out of those walls.. Been out for 5 years feel alive again.. Must mention during my incarceration I lost my dad..and my mother...ask me if that lifestyle worth it.. Answer = NO.. good luck to you bro..keep it positive .

facts 🤣💯
Savage BLACK7 True spoken words
Society sees black people as thugs so everything they do it’s seen as “worse” and it’s really sad. I’m sorry for what you’ve been through I can’t imagine how it would feel being surrounded by people getting better treatment and second chances because of their skin color. This is coming From a white person I want the system to get better....
On Facts 💯
White people go through very little in comparison.

I was lucky to perform at this facility at one point. Amazing opportunity to touch youth in their own format. Crazy
You can tell that educating himself in jail has given him insight and perspective in life. I hope that he continues to his self education and seeks knowledge as a means to get out of that lifestyle he was living.

99% of OG’s always tell the youth to not join gangs, but yet they still join. Never-ending cycle and Trump just loves it.
It only gets better as long as you keep striving with this positive and productive attitude there are no obstacles that will hinder your forward progress. I just did 13 years in California's prison system. I've been out for 2 years now doing something productive with my life enjoying the little things we lose out on I'm 34 now spent about 22 years of My life behind those wall from juvi to la pinta my advise little homie is keep with that positive attitude there is light at the end of that tunnel
A little positive reflection can take you a very long way
Mexicans , central americans , native americans and first nations people of canada using colonial terms. We are one people indigenous to this continent Cemanahuac.
Latinos=southern Europeans
Hispanics=Spaniards
palabra
well some are not all , some are white descedants with a male european Y chromozone, meani g they come from thay blood line firts befor anything esle in their DNA... and only mexicans who hold from30-90-full blood % in them are nayive desceda ts untill you go down 30 % you stop funtioning as native, and thats why 20 % of mexicans population is not native descedant , nor they want to be becuase they mix with mroe europena mexicans or out siders... thats just back so speak for your self... Im mexicans and im borthern mex mexico mexicans and im almost full blood as a male and i rep my tribes and proud of it and im native ,unlike some out their they just mexicoan not mexican , mexicoan by nacionality not mexican by descedantsy theres a difference so dont speka for all in general because some are white, even some african and asian with mexico nacionality backround.
