The beauty of flying commercially...no one knows (let alone gives a crap) who you are. Even celebs have been known to fly incognito with little hassle. Unless pilot on PA specifies seat number or you tell everyone your name, what's there to be embarrassed about?

Dating?? Pilots can broadcast messages to everyone on the plane (PA), it's likely what the controller had in mind. He didn't need to explain it to the pilot, but clearly that's not necessarily obvious to everyone.
She is probably coming home from college or a trip. He did that to be funny and embarrass her as a light joke.
Now the flight crew will slip it into the announcement and everyone will have a laugh.
