Hi Subaiya! Thank you, appreciate the kind words 😊You too will be here one day with your licence and I look forward to hearing from you once you do. Until then I hope I can help with more videos 😊
I already knew when you said you have a special announcement! Congratulations Ashley well done! that was an absolutely huge milestone for you, Cheers! I could def relate to your story on your first year - that was exactly what my prof told us too. Lol! Such as inspiring story of yours ♥
Thanks Charlene! I thought you'd get the surprise 😂 it was hard to keep the surprise.
Congratulations! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks Javier! Good to see you again! Appreciate the support 😊
Congratulations Ashley! :)
Thanks Karan! I appreciate the support 😊 I’m happy to be done this chapter 🎉
Congrats Ashley well done!
Thank you Mercedes! Appreciate it 😊
Congratulations Ashley!
I remember those days back in the mid to late 2000s.
So much has changed since then, and we've all changed as well.
Some of us are Architects (like yourself), or are Specification Writers (like me :) ), some are designers or Consultants in other fields relating to construction, and some are doing things complete outside of construction all together!
We've all found our ways.
Hoping our paths may cross again in work and life.
Have you let us know which firm or design company you've landed?
Congratulations again!
Thanks Specs0309! Thats right, the beauty of architecture is there's so much you can do with the degree, and there's many different paths one can take. I'll be doing a future video on alternative careers in Architecture in order to shed more light on this topic. Thanks for sharing!
Congrats Ashley🎊🎉🎊🎉..I'm really happy for you☺️.. such inspiring video.. good luck for your next goals..me too I'm preparing for the LEED EXAM so I'll be waiting for your videos.. keep going the good work 👏👏
Hi Fatma! Thank you 😊 Appreciate the kind words and support.
@@architecture_tv you're welcome..☺️
You are sooo awesome!! I accepted my undergraduate offer letter and started researching about this industry. So far I have seen people talking in many platform that architecture is going to be hard, your efforts will not be rewarded. Others can't see your efforts and ideas, you can only design what the customer wants, few vacations, relatively low wages, etc. I’d like to hear from you if these are true? Because I’m already started to panic. But anyway, after watching most of your videos, I’m feeling more confident; thank you so much. Hoping my journey is as beautiful as fantasy 😁
Thank you Gaven Jin! Appreciate the support 😊 I have a different perspective which I'll make a video explaining since there's a lot to unpack. It's important to note that no industry is perfect but if you love and enjoy what you do its an adventure. You need to put in the time and effort but thats in everything you do in life. You will have some sleepless nights but you can have fun with it too. I still remember the all-nighters I had with completing projects during my undergrad with my friends. There will be times when it's challenging but when you love what you do, you get over it. I believe it's all about perspective. I feel privileged to work in the field although there are some short falls. I'll share my thoughts further in a video. Thank you for the question, gets me thinking 😊
@@architecture_tv Thank you so much for responding. Your video and response have taught me a lot and gave me a lot of confidence. Looking forward to your new video.
@@gavenjin3912 You're very welcome, anytime! If you need some words of encouragement I'm here 😊
Congratulations 🎉👏
Thank you Shiv! Appreciate it!
I didn’t have an undergrad in architecture but I just completed my m.arch applications! Trying to stay positive about admittance, and if all goes well, I’ll begin my journey next fall’
Hi Nad! This is awesome, I’m excited for you! I’m sure it will go well. Keep me posted and thanks for sharing!
Architecture with Ashley omg I just got my acceptance letter today ☺️☺️
@@anonnnn719 That’s wonderful!!! Your going to have a blast! I really enjoyed doing my masters. This is great news, congratulations!!!! Enjoy the moment!
@@anonnnn719 thank you for sharing the moment 🎉🎉🎉
Hi Ar. Ashley! Loved this content and it's very inspiring! There's really so few videos showing how it really is in an architectural practice and as a foreign professional, I am very curious in the environment in the Canadian offices. How is it different in varying firms? Would really love to see more videos of you showing these realities ☺️
Hi Elosie! Happy to hear the content is inspiring 😊 This is great feedback and suggestions. I will look into this for future videos. Thank you!
Congratulations Ashley.! :) :)
Hi Kalpak!!! Thank you, appreciate the support! I’m happy to be done this chapter.
@@architecture_tv I am looking forward to this, have applied for MArch at Ryerson.! Any tips you could share.? studiocourse@gmail.com or may be i could mail you.?
oof about to start my journey in Fall great video
Hi Haedha! Thats awesome, your going to have a blast! thanks for sharing 😊
No. 1k sub congratulations!!
Thanks XCNEWBIE for rounding the number to 1k! 😃
I was actually planning to pursue my career in Canada, i got my barch already and almost 3 year apprenticeship here in the philippines, would that experience be carried out if i plan on getting my certification??? Your vids helped a lot btw! Keep it up💪
@@xcnewbie2580 Thank you, happy to hear the content is helpful 😊 The experience is helpful when you're looking for work. However those hours can't be used for the internship program. You could look into getting your education certified. Check out this video for more information: ua-cam.com/video/WfQ0Vx7Uol0/v-deo.html
Congratulations Ashley
Hi Sarah! Thank you 😊 your going to be next!
@@architecture_tv I don't think so 😢 can you do a video on things you didn't expect about the industry? Or a video on where you see the design/industry heading towards?
@@Starryskates these are great questions which I will incorporate into future videos. Thank you for your feedback 😃
Thank you for this amazing video Ashley! I am halfway through my architectural process now! (7 years as of now!) I completed my Bachelor of Architectural Studies from Waterloo in 2020, and now I am in my 2nd year of my M.Arch degree at UofT. I would like to know how did you find fulfilling the hours of the IAP program like? Did you complete it at one firm, or did you have to move through multiple hours to fulfill all those hours?
Hi Christopher! Thank you! Its great to hear your making your way through the process. For me fulfilling the hours took sometime and it was a bit of a challenge (perhaps I'll do a video on this) depending on your expertise and the structure of the practice you work within. Many interns need to move around in order to fulfill their hours. I wasn't able to get my hours all in one place.
Congratulations Ashley..🎉🎊
Your video is very informative but I have two more queries to ask you:
1. How much stipend did we get as an intern architect per month?
2. How much time the authority takes to provide certificate of practice once we get the licence as an architect?
Hi Harshil! Thank you for the support 😊
1. An Intern Architect's salary expectation depends on a variety of aspects, you could look into Payscale for more information: www.payscale.com/research/CA/Country=Canada/Salary
2. This depends on the province in Canada you plan to open the practice, so for example in Ontario there are three types of practices and once the application is completed it takes approximately 4-6 weeks to process. For more information see the OAA website for the certificate of practice and refer to the forms on the page: oaa.on.ca/registration-licensing/practices/architect-certificate-of-practice
Curiously, can you use your 'architectural' skills to do a very awesome floral arrangement? Because...you are planning, designing, and constructing a (flowerily) structure.
:-)
I had completed my bachelor of Technology in civil engineering and now I am doing work as a architecture under license of Municipal Nagar council
Hi Kanwar! This is great, thank you for sharing and it’s nice to meet a fellow engineer on the channel 👋
Hello Architect😊 Just found your awesome channel! It seems that Canada is very strict with becoming an architect. In most european countries you just have to complete a masters degree, or a 4 year bachelor (normally it‘s 3 years in Europe), followed by 2 or 3 years of simple work experience depending on the country. No need to document your work during this period and you don‘t have to pass an examination after this internship to get licensed. You don‘t even have to do anything to maintain it. I’m from Austria and currently in my master studies. What would have happend if you didn‘t passed your examination? 😳 Could you continue working in architecture field?
Hi Marlina!!! Happy you found the channel 😊 It is a process to be licensed and you're right it varies a lot from country to country. If I didn't pass the exams or collect the experience then I couldn't be licensed. You need to complete all the requirements to be licensed, if anything is missing from the requirements then you can't be licensed. It's also important to note that to work in the field you don't have to be licensed, you can work under another licensed Architect as a designer, technologist, project manager, assistant, etc. However, if you want to start your own practice then you need to be licensed. Also, having your licence might bring more job opportunities but again it's not a requirement in the industry unless you want to start your own practice and sign off on projects. I hope this helps and thank you for getting in touch 😊 its nice to meet a friend in Austria 😊
@@architecture_tv Thank you! Do you have to work at special designated companys for „Architect intern“ positions in Canada and are these positions special temporary contracs for 3 years or usually permanent?
Hello mam
Mam i have completed my becholer degree in 2018 and now i am working as an interior deigner in india mam my question is if i goes to canada how to get license
I mean i have to do study
Hi Akashdeep, there are two paths toward licensure. One is the university route and two is the RAIC syllabus program. I recommend this video for information about the syllabus program; ua-cam.com/video/dLXwZ77ET08/v-deo.html . The university route would require going to an accredited program (doing a masters if your undergrad is not accredited), I recommend watching this video for an overview of the process; ua-cam.com/video/U7lMs-9EzVQ/v-deo.html . I hope this helps.
Dear Ashley, I am in a fix. Could you please give me some ideas and suggestions that if I pursue my Masters in Architecture in Germany, and then apply for a job or internship in Canada, will i be accepted to work as an architect? Will my Foreign Masters Degree be evaluated authentic to practice as an Architect after i complete the necessary hours of tasks?
TIA
Hi Rifat! Thats not an issue, you can get your education accredited through the CACB with an international degree. I would recommend checking out the CACB website here: cacb.ca/modes-of-certification/
Along with watching the international video on the channel: ua-cam.com/video/WfQ0Vx7Uol0/v-deo.html
@@architecture_tv Um so glad to actually relate to your video that i had already seen once before!😅
but this time i have got to understand more. so thank you as always!
Now, could you please tell me what is the percentage of foreign degree students in the job market for architects? and how long does the varification process take to complete?
TIA
@@rifatudoy1780 Happy to hear you can relate 😊I don't know what the percentage is exactly for foreign degree students in the job market but there are a few. It's not an issue to get into the job market as an international graduate or architect as long as you have some experience, expertise, and skill set. In terms of the verification process I don't have any personal experience or knowledge on the subject.
@@architecture_tv thank you for all the support and informations! :)
Hey Ashley. Im Ar. Ebin from India. Congratulations on landing your license. Which course is more likely to land a high paying job in Canada. Is it BIM and Project management or is it Architecture technology? (both PG Diploma)
Hi Ebin! Thank you 😊 I would recommend having BIM experience, this will help with getting a job in the industry. I have a video with more tips that might help you: ua-cam.com/video/ULowG6EfVxo/v-deo.html . Hope this helps 😊
@@architecture_tv In what all field does BIM graduates and Project construction managers work? Will it all be engineering related works than design? Can I do internship in architects office after this combined diploma course and then apply for license?
Hey Ashley Is there any possibility for indian Architects to work in Canada an how are the opportunities for Indian architects in canada
Hi Shiv! Thats definitely a possibility and there are many opportunities here for international Architects. Canada is also multi-cultural, especially the city of Toronto.
@@architecture_tv 😊Thank you Ashley
Hello Ashley.. please can I use my undergraduate certificate I did in Nigeria in Canada for master..if yes what are the minimum requirements for master in Canada..
Hi Kolawole! Thats not a problem, if your undergrad was in Architecture you have 11 accredited schools for your masters to pick from. If your undergrad is not in Architecture you have two options for your masters UBC or UofT (University of British Columbia or University of Toronto). The requirements for masters depends on the school however typically across all the schools you need a portfolio. I'd suggest looking into each individual school and online they list the requirements for admission. For instance, the following are the requirements for UBC masters: sala.ubc.ca/admissions/master-architecture. Each school has different requirements.
Thanks.. congrat on your announcement
@@kolawoleadekeye7358 thank you! Appreciate the support.
@@architecture_tv Congratulations on such a great achievement!!🎉 I have an undergraduate degree in architecture from outside of Canada. I'm also interested in applying for a MArch in Canada, but most of the universities I've research won't accept international undergraduate degrees. You mentioned there are 11 accredited schools. Do you know any website or resource that would list these accredited schools?
@@pao.arquitectura thank you 😊 appreciate the support and kind words. The majority of the schools take international students especially the accredited MArch programs. With a background in architecture you have 11 options, these are listed in the CACB website here: cacb.ca/accredited-programs/
Note, I'll be doing a future video on the top schools and program in Canada so stay tune. You can find the program requirements for admission online for each school, for example UBC is here: sala.ubc.ca/admissions/master-architecture UofT here: www.daniels.utoronto.ca/programs/graduate/master-architecture-professional and Waterloo: uwaterloo.ca/architecture/academic-programs/master-architecture
