I was looking for this channel so much, thanks for all this info, i read about this but is nice to have this tips from you, I am architect in chile planning to move to canada 😊
Thank you Ashley,... This video was great like always. I'm also curious about job opportunities that a foreign architectural graduate (without Canadian work experience and specific contextual knowledge such as provincial building codes and so on) may apply for as their first job in Canada?!
Greetings Ash, I'm working my way to shift to Canada with a 3yrs work x from india. Your info was the most qualitative of all that o went through. Cheers!
Hi Christy, I'm happy to hear the content is helpful. You might also find the following video helpful which also provides more insight about how to go about finding an architecture job; ua-cam.com/video/IfXnNkELFOE/v-deo.html.
Hey Ashley! Absolutely love your content. When you said project management course. Did you mean construction management or project management in general? I'm an architect. Should I do general project management or construction management?
Hi Mohd! Thank you. I was referring to project management in general. There are also PMP cerification. This really depends on your goals and what you'd like to focus within architecture. Most importantly within the job market for the architecture industry Revit skills is essential so I would make sure first to have Revit skills since its currently in demand within the job market.
Oh okay! I was planning on doing construction management in canada as I wanted to know in and outs of construction which might help me in future instead of general project management..And as you said yes I have some experience in revit but I will also take a creditation course online soon. Thank you so much for the response!
Thank you Ashley for this youtube channel! It’s very helpful as an aspiring architect! I was wondering, is it possible to do the internship program in the US instead of Canada?
Hi TeddyBear! You're welcome, happy to hear its helpful 😊 It's possible for example to be an Intern Architect through the OAA (Ontario Association of Architects) and still be able to work in another country and log that experience as long as you complete the required amount of local experience. Each province has different requirements so its important to check with your local jurisdiction. You could also go through the licensing requirements in the US.
Hello question, if you have to submit the requirements of CACB you need to pass the hard copies of it? since I am from the Philippines, I need to go first in canada?
Hello Ma'am...I hope you are doing well and taking proper care of your health...My name is Madhurjyamay Saha and I am Architecture Student from India...Ma'am I want to do my 6 months internship in Canada which is a part of my curriculum...I shall be highly obliged if suggest me some ways to apply and where to apply...Thank you
Hi Madhurjyamay! Thank you for the introduction 😊 I would recommend looking into which province and city your planning to move. Once thats establish I would look into making applications. You could look for job postings under the local jurisdiction. For example in Ontario it would be the OAA (Ontario Association of Architects): oaa.on.ca/knowledge-and-resources/careers-and-opportunities/employment-opportunities . Hope this helps. All the best!
Hi, I have a question about the role when applying the first job in Canada. Let's say if I have 10 years of experience practicing architecture in a foreign country as an Associate Director without licensed (gradutaed from a Naab accredited program). What role employer would consider if they are interested in your resume/portfolio? Thanks!
Hi Jon! I can't say exactly what role since this varies greatly from practice to practice however you could apply to job postings that require 10 plus years of experience. Job titles really depend on your skill set and experience along with what the practice requires. Some senior level positions require 10 years of experience. Now, this will also depend on your project experience and skill set. I would start by applying to a few job postings and see the responses you get. Check out the job postings and descriptions for each job title to get an idea, this is the OAA website: oaa.on.ca/knowledge-and-resources/careers-and-opportunities/employment-opportunities
Hi Adil Sheikh, your welcome 😃😊 Canada would be a great option to settle. In the near future once things are safer, I plan on doing meetups so it's completely possible to meet up.
