I was alert not anxious a week + ago when watching Dr. Mike's videos, but it's here now. So it is more about being cautious of surroundings, aware of what's going on and diligent in washing your hands or disinfecting things. To add to that.... It is hard to not be anxious when you have so many countries shut down and people hiding out in their homes trying to distance yourself from possibly being infected.

The major world players want vaccines, because the modern vaccines do not stop people from getting the virsuses. I know of an adult who told me last year that they got the flu vaccine, but still got the flu 3 times last year.

Side note: Historically the most commonly used polio vaccine was a live-attenuated oral vaccine. Not used any more for a variety of reasons (especially in areas where polio is eradicated), but many people alive today have had it. I believe I was given the oral vaccine as a kid (as my non-vaccinated grandpa was not allowed to visit me after, and the only booster shots I remember were for MMR), but in the US, not long after, the oral vaccine was discontinued. You knew they cut short the Phase III trial more than 2 years early ( it was written to run through May 2023) so there would be no way to compare the long-term health effects of these shots on people compared to placebo recipients. And you still got 2-5 doses. Science ASAP would have been May 2023. What happened here was Spastik ASAP

So what takes years is to run additional trials using other groups of people + to get through all the "red tape" required for adoption and licensure if a vaccine is accepted.. This quarantine will last a fair bit longer than you think. Part of "flattening the curve" is spreading out the transmission of the virus over a longer period of time. Because, ultimately, we can't really stop it now. But we can at least slow it down enough so hospitals aren't overwhelmed with patients. Things get REALLY bad when this is allowed to happen, because part of the reason the mortality rate for younger adults being lower is that they respond well to respirators. But if we don't have enough beds, or enough respirators, that's when we start getting deaths that could have been prevented. This is essentially what is happening in Italy. They're at a point where some hospitals just turn away 80+ year olds in hopes of saving beds for younger people. This is where choices that no one wants to make present themselves.
This new vaccine is all well and good, and may work, until the virus takes a hint and mutates to alter it's protein spikes to cling on cells differently. But this will take a while longer than how long it takes for flu to mutate. But what would I know, I'm not a viralogist.

Ergo it does not require years to ascertain safety and efficacy of a given vaccine as that will show very early on. If you understood the science and looked you would see that even the very rare possible side effects of vaccines manifest = within a week or two of inoculation.
So what takes years is to run additional trials using other groups of people + to get through all the "red tape" required for adoption and licensure if a vaccine is accepted.. p.s. - clinical trial are structured based upon what type of information you are trying to elicit.
Ergo a new vaccine might employ a randomized double blind model with a placebo - whereas a vaccine which previously proved out yet which is now in a new form which is being tested against an older injectable version would not require placebo testing and so on......... Perhaps it is time to learn of what you "try" to say.

I did hear that the one of the other pandemics’ vaccines would potentially work against COVID 19, seeing as they both would be considered ‘cousins’. I wish they had found a vaccines for SARS earlier, maybe its vaccine would have worked if it existed. I’m just really happy and grateful to hear that they’ve found some stuff and developed something. And thanks for making us all aware.... We actually needed this...
Edit: Someone in the replies mentioned the Ebola. And also, it would be possible to create a vaccine for SARS, it just would have taken heaps of time and effort; as well as special requirements. It’s not impossible. Also, the COVID 19 is like the flu, it’s not as bad as SARS anyways, so it’s okay that they don’t have a vaccine for SARS. This is the era of COVID 19. But still. @@the_pigs_have_rebelled There's a difference between ingesting mercury and injecting it straight into the blood stream. That's a moot point, though. It wasn't mercury that almost killed me through anaphylaxis. It was one of the preservatives used in a vaccine.

This quarantine will last a fair bit longer than you think. Part of "flattening the curve" is spreading out the transmission of the virus over a longer period of time. Because, ultimately, we can't really stop it now. But we can at least slow it down enough so hospitals aren't overwhelmed with patients.
Things get REALLY bad when this is allowed to happen, because part of the reason the mortality rate for younger adults being lower is that they respond well to respirators. But if we don't have enough beds, or enough respirators, that's when we start getting deaths that could have been prevented.
This is essentially what is happening in Italy. They're at a point where some hospitals just turn away 80+ year olds in hopes of saving beds for younger people. This is where choices that no one wants to make present themselves.

This new vaccine is all well and good, and may work, until the virus takes a hint and mutates to alter it's protein spikes to cling on cells differently. But this will take a while longer than how long it takes for flu to mutate.

Mutations are random and unlikely, and even if it gets mutated, it has to be in the right place, so it will take several years
