- Casey Affleck plays an Army veteran having some serious problems returning to a "normal" life in Braddock, PA, leading to some dark places for him and his brother (played by Christian Bale) in Out Of The Furnace. He spoke to David Poland about the role and his career.

One of the best actors of his generation. Affleck is criminally underrated and really needs to work more often.
YES!!!!
HicoxArchie actually he’s not underrated at all, he’s just being picky
I have eargasms by hearing his voice and eyegasms by looking at his face
I really wish this interview went longer. Enjoyed every second of it. Casey Affleck is a very humbling guy.
He became one of my favorite actors working today with the assassination of jesse james, in which he delivered one of the best performances of the 2000's in my opinion. It's great to see a real and long interview with him, because there aren't really many quality interviews with him out there, where he can actually express himself. Great Guy
Same here!
That Jesse James movie was so good.
OMG he played that part soooo well, he played so sneaky n conniving that even his most die-hard fans 'hated' the man who shot Jessie James. And that my friends, is high caliber acting! Amd he's also gorgeous! Of course.Love watchin' this guy.

I love the way your interviews feel more like a genuine conversation about movies and the creative process of making a movie, rather than having boring generic questions. Great job!
I love how sincerely he talks about filmmaking.
oh how i love his voice
Me tooooo!!!!
yes yes and his face those eyes lol
Yes, very comforting and soothing.
This felt like a really great conversation about movies. I like that it wasn't a bunch of stupid questions like normal interviews. Great Interview!!
Out of The Furnace was a great movie! All the actors did such a good job! Casey Affleck is so talented and he did a great job in his role!
Between this interview and his Manchester by The Sea, my respect for Casey Affleck has grown immensely. I wasn't really a fan of this film, but I have always enjoyed him as an actor. Now I enjoy him as a person.
Gone Baby Gone is another good one with Casey
I really enjoyed this interview. Casey seems like a great guy. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite actors. He describes the movie process so beautifully. And the interview process flowed so well. And he's one of the most beautiful men I have ever seen!!!!! GOD bless!!!
Lovely interview. Wish it was longer.
these are hands down the best actor interviews on youtube lol
His voice reminds me of the great Marlon Brando.
He definitely has a very distinctive voice. Extremely unique. Love it!❤
Trust me, Casey: We love "Ain't Them Bodies Saints." Buying it immediately when it comes out on the 17th!
Loved Ain't Them Bodies Saints! One of my favourite movies of the year. As a side note- first time I see someone wear their wedding ring around the knuckle
These videos are invaluable to me. Thank you!
Brother of Batman on film. Brother of Batman in real life.
no batman brother
@anujbeatles
Ahhhhhah I see what ya did there👀
Good one!👍
/\✋
So different to any of his characters. I kind of always imagined him a certain way.
Great interview. Love this guy, particularly like the opening.
Thanks!
Ending was so funny.
Thank you Mr. David.
At Close Range (1986) has always been my all time favorite movie. Watched it hundreds of times. Out of the Furnace is on the same level. Still has the ability to pull you in the 100th time you watch it. Two magical pieces of film with great acting all around. Wished they were both 4 hours long.
At close range was honestly terrifying. Christopher walken was scary
He was my favorite character in the movie ♥️♥️
Fabulous Interview! Casey has made so many truly great movies over the years-a lot of Oscar worthy performances that will remain perfect forever. Yes, he seems to be a tough critic of himself, yet that is exactly why they are so phenominally good. He demands the very best. Good on you Casey!
Wild Irish Blessings 🍀🕊😎
16:22 Did he just burp in an interview? Hahaha, love this guy :D
No but seriously he's a really good actor :)
What about the sound at 9:56? lol - I think he needed to blow his nose...
Btw, I would have been so embarrassed if I had been in his seat...
I think the deer hunter comparison was more about both movies/stories starting out in impoverished steel mill towns in Pennsylvania. Unlike the deer hunter, we don't actually see Rodney in a combat role, only the after effect.
He's the man. Have to recommend a great movie? Jesse James everytime!
Light of my life
My favorite Casey movies:
(in chronological order)
The Last Kiss (2006)
💙Gone Baby Gone (2007)
Ain't Them Bodies Saints (2013)
💙Manchester By The Sea (2016)
Finest Hours (2016)
💙Light Of My Life (2019)
💙Our Friend (2019)
Good "mentionables":
Soul Survivors (2001)
Lonesome Jim (2005)
Jesse James (2007)
Every Breath You Take (2021)
Lonesome Jim could have been really good, actually, with minor, but effective plot and dialogue tweaks.... so much so, it irks me that it's not possible to go back in time and speak to the director/writer.
Soul Survivors turned out to be a good movie, but with the disappointment of Casey having little screen time. He was adorable in that movie.
great performance,
20:14 ☺️ yes, yes, it does
33:00 the most excited I've ever seen him - adorable 😍
Casey is so 🔥🔥🔥❤️
I love this movie, isn't the main storyline how much Russell loves Rodney?
Greetings,Mr.Cassey Affleck! I want more movies with You.(Mendoza Argentina)
doing press works for a movie seems so tedious for actors XD
The interview was a little long you seemed under duress as tho you were being grilled or something.
Deer hunter my ass both movies are moving and amaizing but notmonce did I think deer hunter, but I can see how mainstream low brain activity ppl think so. Because there is a deer hunting sceen, where Bale doesnt shoot like Dinero sp?, and a small war element, but damn just appreciate the movie without having to brand it! I feel it is one ofna kind, I caught myself screaming at the tv, to fire up woody's character!
Not because of Bale going deer hunting. Because of how Affleck's head is fucked after going to war.
Out of The Furnace came out WAY too late to the game.
not a bad movie but it was soooooooo looooong and few action...
+alyn BLaZe Oh please! Short attention span?
Casey's movies seem to be like that to SOME people. I just ADORED Manchester By The Sea. I mean, I'm talking favorite movie of my LIFE. No joke. Yet many ppl I've spoken to said they found the movie too "slow".....or "too hard to get into." Whaaaaaat???? Not at ALL true for me. Manchester was just brilliant. What a genius movie and totally phenomenal acting by Casey Affleck. He deserved that Oscar hands down. So happy he won!!!!
Not saying he's a bad actor but this is far from his better performances. Just like in The Revenand, which I'm pretty sure that most people agree that Leo had way better performances in the past.
Hard for me to say since I haven't seen this particular movie. I'll have to watch it to see what I think. Even if it is loooooong and/or hard to get into, I'm sure I'll still love it......because it's Casey Affleck! I could watch him aaaaaall day....
I watched it cuz of Christian Bale. The acting is good, it's just that the pace is really really slow.
The Deer Hunter is an awful film.
