- Volvo opened the order books for the first MY25 car, the V60. That means there is product news: are there big changes, or is Volvo sticking to a MY24 spec? Let me tell you a bit more!

No fuel heater? That's a huge deal up north where I live. Not only to preheat, but to keep the cabin warm while driving electric as well. Will it get a heat pump instead?
Many other plugins (except from volvo) uses an electric heater. Which then reduces battery range. But also the emissions from the fuel heater is worse than running the engine, and it also means you do not waste expensive fuel.
Best way is to have a charger at home and heat the car from the electrical grid.
Or just get an electric car ;)

Really interesting and informative video, Thom, thanks. All of Volvo's changes are hard to keep track of, even in just one country. My sales guy tries really hard to get the facts from Volvo so he can set expectations for his customers. He finds it really frustratingly difficult to get the straight scoop in the U.S.. One thing he has verified is the U.S. will NOT be getting the upgraded on-board charger (due I think to electrical infrastructure incompatibilities?). I have to be honest, the way Volvo keeps chipping away at content, when it's time to replace my T8 I'm going to have to shop all the options again.
Same here… I’m looking at Mercedes & Porsches to replace my T8 because I’m tired of crappy/limited computer screens and tired of a lack of safer buttons/dials … it’s too much work for too little gain driving these modern Volvos … design people at Volvo don’t think about serious drivers, only about soccer moms

great video as always! disappointing about the removal of the wool blend interior option (my personal fav) ....also was hoping for a new color option.....something in the green family, like a forest green like they used to have on the cars back in the late 90's or early 2000's...
I so wish Volvo would do something beyond the monochromatic paints. Give me some greens, reds, or even a blue. The C40 has a nice blue, why can't the V60 get it too?
Ah nice. I was waiting for some weeks to order a T6 but was not possible in NL, just last week was able to do it and expected delivery may-June already the v60-2025
Thanks for another great video... but another sad Volvo day with the removal of the Polestar Engineered versions.. but maybe it's just as good.. The Polestar Engineered versions were better before. The MY21 are the peak year. Before the insane cost cutting mania.. Don't we will see more Polestar treats in Volvo's lineup. Will probably be confusing marketing wise since Polestar are a separate brand.
Personally I think the retirement of the SPA models is the beginning of the end for Volvo
Probably getting the V60 Hybrid. One reason was, the much nicer Console Design. Will this also disappear then?
Great video! I'm about to put an order down for an XC40 Recharge his week, I guess this MY25 update may also tell what's coming to the rest of the lineup and it seems I won't he missing out on anything huge.

this makes me optimistic that the plug-in will be available in North America when I need it. My current V60 Polestar engineered has the larger battery but the disappointing slower on-board charger.
I ordered one a couple of days ago. Can’t wait, but I’ll have to for the next 6 months 😎

There are only three areas that Volvo desperately needs to improve their wagons, and all are top needs: (1) Cross Country wagons need PHEV and BEV drivetrains … forget these lowered wagons that scrape bottom all the time… (2) put back physical buttons/dials for climate controls, drive-mode controls, etc… (3) redesign the instrument panel and infotainment screen, but keep inlaid screens, not iPad glued to dashboards … look at companies that do their computer screens much better (Porsche, Mercedes, etc), and LEARN from them
No Volvo models apart from EX30 and 90 have ‘iPad glued to dash’
I agree with a couple things you mentioned but these aren't really things Volvo really needs to desperately change, they already have a pretty foolproof design
I get why Volvo removd the cross centrey the new one kind of suckd they most likaly make a new one
Question: V60 Cross Country - can you get it with Polestar tuned engine? Also the B4 diesel version, is that powerful enough? I haven’t tested it yet.

S60 will end soon due to EX90 production. Id say MY25 is the last one.

@@thom-lov bedankt, maar ook al de 2025 versie van de B3 zie ik bijv ook nog.
Op dit moment alleen nog de plug in varianten, die zijn al uitverkocht, vandaar MY25. De mild hybrides zullen wel spoedig volgen zodra my24 van die varianten ook uitverkocht is. Tzt zal dan ook de configurator bijgewerkt worden. 😊
Would you mind sharing some kind of accessory code for that camera? I checked accessory sites in multiple countries without any luck.
I have a 2020 V60 R-Design with Polestar. I can't find any reason why I need to upgrade to the 2025 model. Seems like it has less features.
Id say the same. Perhaps the bigger plug-in hybrid battery.
I’m still loving my 2017 V90CC with 69k miles but am considering my options for the next car. If Volvo made a plug in V90 CC, is place the order today.

My guess, of the perhaps 5% (?) of shoppers who will purchase a Volvo in the US, 5% will buy the EV version. That’s .0025 of shoppers. Considering the mining, rare metals processing, and power grid consequences of EV’s, the plug-in hybrid is the optimum, logical, choice.
My ‘23 S60 PHEV has 11,500 miles on the odometer and has burned 110 gallons. In Pennsylvania, charging the battery costs ~$35 a month at $.168 per kWh.
(my first Volvo was a 544 :^).

The heater at first seems concerning. But, I think I would be ok, because battery powered heater is instant on, as are seat and steering wheel heaters. I assume, if the battery is dead, the engine will power the heaters immediately through the battery
Edit: Thinking about this, why wouldn’t the vehicle preheat with remote start? The engine can power a discharge battery to activate a battery powered heater.
S/V90 and 60 are completely out in the UK. I drive a 23MY V90 T6 Recharge and I’m gutted I won’t be able to replace it with another Volvo!!
Such a shame Volvo UK took this step, un-volvo like!!

As someone who bought a volvo few years back and loved, I'm now discouraged from buying another. Basically the same car, but for a higher price and with less features. Plus android automotive and cruise control that still cannot adapt to road sign speed limits. No, thank you.

The last of the great SPA models now coming out. They turned around Volvo's fortunes. We'll now see the downfall with the chinese built plastic clad EX variants. RIP Volvo!
They are sending as many V60 Polestars to the States as possible. Sell like hotcakes there.
They do fit the US perfectly you'd say. Hopefully they will continue with the PE there...
USA needs Cross Country wagon PHEVs, not lowered wagon PHEVs…

@@blindguardian1979 Well, my understanding is that you're in the small minority -- that many more Cross Country wagons have been sold than lowered wagons that scrape bottom all-too-easily.
@@cbatiau2528 I suppose if you're going offroad scraping is a possibility but for regular driving it's no lower than a regular car. I have the V60 PE and never come close to scraping. I think it looks sportier than the cross country. I think you're right about the cross country selling more but there is also more supply. I had to put my name on a waitlist for 6 months for my vehicle which is the norm for the V60 PE so there is obviously a high demand for it too. Just way less supply so hard to compare
2025?? What are you talking about? In 2024 Volvo are stopping the production of V series completely.

for the UK market. We are still getting wagons here in US. Haven't heard decision for 2025 Volvo US yet though. I personally hate SUVs, but wagons are getting really hard to find
