    When I get a Tele, I want alnico 2's in the neck and bridge positions. I will probably go with Seymour Duncan. The tone seemed to inspire you, Mike!

    From Leo: While there is a different sound, I cannot say one is superior. They both have good tonal qualities. The better and top level of guitars come with pretty good pickups. It is the bottom to lower level guitars that greatly benefit from upgrading the pickups. By the way, great work on the demonstration riffs!

    alnico 2 are my faves in teles. cuts the harshness I also like alnico 2 in my gibson. weird eh but I just like guitars that are not shrill and yes I am a regular user of the tone knobs. ya cant beat pickups with low output because it's easier to add boost or gain than it is to get that old paf sound out of overwound pups

    Love the "quack" of the alnico bridge, but I definitely prefer the stock pickup for the neck. Thanks for the superb demo!

      Got to agree here. I have never liked A2 in a neck position. The bass strings are way to spongy and soft.

    Mike, First of all....Great Playing! I have been thinking of upgrading my Tele's pickups for a while now. After watching several videos and doing a lot of research. I think I am going with the same set up as you have. I hope Seymour Duncan is giving you a cut on all the pickups your video sells for them.😁

    You keep saying slight, that thing sounds completely different lol Way more thick bluesy sound than before. I think now it's a better solo instrument, just because the sound is so much more dominant. But before it had merit for its nice thin sound as well, good for more sweet, less aggressive sounds I think. Anyways, it was cool to see the difference. Thanks for posting!

      +Mike Bradley I hate to tell you this man, but the original Fender pickups sounded better. It sounded more like a guitar. The Seymor Duncan pickups may be louder, however they don't sound musical....they sound very plastic.

I have a ‘17 Fender MIM Telecaster that I feel is a little to bright with the stock pickups, in your opinion do you think these would be a good choice for my tele? I play mostly classic rock and blues. Thanks!

    I think it's just a question of taste, I like the two kind of Pickups, I think the original are brightest and less modern than Seymour's Pickups, according to me, the first seem rudest and more natural in the fender signature "the roots" isn't it?

      The Talman Prestige models, 2016 and 2017, came stock with these. I'm still getting used their sound in my very recently purchased 2017 TM1702P. It's WAY different and more traditionally Tele sounding than my factory Texas Special loaded 2018 American Special Tele. They've already inspired new licks, riffs and songs.
      People can be forgiven for believing that I love green Talmans since besides the aforementioned Screamers Green Metallic 1702, I also own two '90s era Talmans. A Metallic Avocado TC620 and a Metallic Green TC420 that I love to play.
      (What age is too old to have a favorite color and really like pearloid pickguards? My Tele is Sherwood Green Metallic, BTW.) = )

    • @xmillion1704
      @xmillion1704 5 років тому

      @@MartyMartin87 hehe As you well know, folks pay $1000 or more extra for that "fine" quality. I've found there to be quite a wide range of tonal qualities across the American line, including some with more bite. But hey, if you achieve what you like with your MIM, you've created a very nice win-win.
      I do enjoy playing my MIM Duo Sonic HS, fun little guitar, along with my American Special Tele, whose bite, it's true, isn't exceedingly Tele sharp.

    • @VintageRadius
      @VintageRadius 6 років тому

      Just go to Fender's website and look at the two guitar spec pages side by side. Pickups will make the biggest impact. Professional series uses the newer V-mod pickups. I believe the older American standard used the twisted tele set. The other big difference is the three brass saddle bridge. You would want to check with a guitar tech however to make sure it's compatible on the Mexican before purchase. Those would be the two I would consider. I wouldn't worry about the frets or nut. You can get too crazy and at a certain point it would make more sense to just buy a used American tele.
