Honestly, I just refer to the preydromes by the first part of their name (ex. Veloci or Io). It makes more sense with the greats being the same thing, but with a better naming scheme.
Imagine a Rathalos being bodied by Aptonoths, and getting to Rath heaven, that lad definitely got bullied right back out of whatever afterlife they might get, lol
For small monsters, it's easy to forget that they're still pretty threatening for regular people. An average-sized Bullfango, for example, is a little larger than a real-world wild boar, and could easily kill a typical man with a single charge, even if they'd barely scratch a hunter.
@@joel-uw2lg I'm sure they would, if cars existed in Monster Hunter. They probably attack merchant carts. And I'd bet a Bulldrome could easily flip a large car.
My only nitpick to your Ecology Videos is that you dont talk about the Small Monsters and Herbivores of the Area, so im really happy this video exists lol
A pair of curiosities about birdies. Giaprey: The reason of the subespecies debate is because in first gen exists a subespecies of velociprey known as white velociprey that was identical to giaprey without ice (first gen doesn't have ice monsters or maps) Genprey: Gendromes are the only dromes that can be male or female, the other dromes are always male Ioprey: They are the least cooperative prey, to the point they are openly cannibal and will try to eat Iodrome if they show the minimum sign of weakness Velociprey: They hate Rathian to the point they will ignore hunters if a Rathian is in the area and will focus on the female wyvern. That also applies to jaggi.
It is easy to think small monsters wouldn’t present a threat to a human, since they don’t do much damage to the hunter and are easily killed, but looking at the size of some of them you can clearly tell they could easily kill a human An aggravated Aptonoth could stomp on a human or kill it with a tail swipe And a single Velociprey could take down a man
Yes, and also that Aptonoth and Popo are regularly used as beasts of burden. In fact, Aptonoth and Popo are probably the only monsters people in MH's more civilized areas ever see.
Currently the best MH Nat Geo channel in the scene ! So well made! Such professional presentation!! You got me watching this like I have MH Biology exam tomorrow 😅 Great job, Oceaniz
Despise fancy monsters, the small ones are the most persistent and adapted to survive in any biome. A truly successful creatures that are the very FOUNDATION of ecosystem. Thx for giving them love and respect they deserve in that matter, mate :D /
I miss when the small monsters like Conga, Blango, and Bullfango were threats to me wjen I was young. In MH Freedom 2, I got carted by a few of them. Now, they don't deal any significant damage even if bullfangos are more aggressive in Sunbreak. They're more annoying than scary.
Another episode of things I didn't pay too much attention to while playing. But now that you've covered it, I appreciate the world of MH more. How do the rise raptors fit in? Are they just different names? LilCritters/10
Rise Raptors (Jaggi/Baggi/Wroggi) are probably part of the Dog Wyvern family. They all come from 3rd gen (iirc) and replaced the Prey/Dromes in that gen.
Started getting into ur content right as I found myself starting Monster Hunter again after years of not touching the franchise. Love everything you do and keep making amazing vids :)
this video has me intensely curious what would be covered in a video on endemic life, i have to say i'm particularly fascinated by the ecology of all the little creatures in this world
I might have missed them in a previous video but I’d love to see a bit about Larinoth, they are my favourite non wyvern monsters. Still sad that you can’t get one to ride in stories two.
Ngl I fully expected a joke about Riders using Aptonoth to fell Elder Dragons due to the unique kinship skill Edit: even though the Stories games aren't canon lmao
I recently went back to play first gen again. God damn getting ram ranched by 6 bullfango on a corner is one hell of a character building experience 😂😂😂
Given every monster got some kind of long range attack in Rise (to prevent hunters from sitting on ledges), if they had brought back Velocidrome in the Jungle I bet it would have gotten a spit attack like Izuchi has. Making it more likely Giadromes are a subspecies since the Frost Sac and spit attack are a huge difference.
Wait If Velociprey Are In Rise That Would Mean………. Rise Takes Place In The Old World * Some May Have Figured It Out Before Me But I’m Just Realizing This *
I've been watching this series of videos of yours for a while and I love it, but, thanks to my dyslexia I keep reading the intro disclaimer as "Disabilities do not exist". Sometimes my brain makes me laugh. Anyway, have a great day!
Big monster suure threaten cities and villages, but small monster cannot be spotted that easily, so imagine the chaos if a Drome or just any lost smaller menber gets inside a village... It would be similar to a Velociraptor from jurassic park doing the same, less blood thirsty at least
Ironically, it's the lower ranking monsters - the Ear Birds, the Dromes, and the Greats of the Dog Wyverns - that are the most immediate and direct threat to people. The apexes - Raths, Tigrex, etc - would only choose to dine on people if they had absolutely no other options. If a Tigrex were to attack a merchant's cart, it would be to go after the Popo or Aptonoth pulling the cart, and they'd probably kill the poor driver without even noticing them. But a hungry Yian Kut-Ku would more than likely hunt a soft, juicy person all by their lonesome as a meal, especially if they were struggling to find Hornetaurs and Konchus that day.
I always forget how dangerous some small monsters would be for people that aren't hunters. Jaggi and the like are literally raptors. Bullfango are like Boars, which are terrifying. I could go on and on.
And i almost forget. Voice is a bit too quiet, i got yt vol max and my headphones max and still got problem sometimes. Maybe i got hearing difficulty because all movies are now so loud xd.
@@Oceaniz Ah okay Interesting. That los must have ether been 1: Very young and in over its head. 2: Very old and weak. Or 3: Sickly and or disadvantaged from an injury. I find it very hard to believe such a masterful predator of the sky can be slayed by such a lumbering, landbound creature. I can see a massive herd led by a huge bull being capable of intimidating it away but that los must have really screwed up to have actually lost its life to them.
Woah, how did you get all this footage of classic game maps with that lighting and the player being invisible and stuff? Is that a mod for World or Rise? Some enhanced emulation?
Lol, Aptonoths are maybe bad at the games. But in the real world scenario in the game, Aptonoths is the Hadrosaurs/Stegosaurs of their world, with their herd mentality, offensive built in their tails, massive size and heads that could counter any other predators at a Rare occasion, just like how Antelopes can charge a Lion, they can defend themselves. And as an Old hunter, it always sucks that some Small herbivores are such a pacifist creature(Except those Rhenoplos) that cannot really protect themselves and just run away.
