Listen to how good Sammy sounds, You have to remember he is in his early 60's here. How many rock vocalist still sound this good in their 40's or 50's forget about not just being 60, but being INTO your 60's and still killing it. I don't know how much longer he can do it, but I am going to enjoy it as long as I can. Rock on Sammy, Fuck all of the haters!!!!!
Who cares, right? The dude is BAD ASS there's an interview or some s*** where he's talkin' about taking care of his voice and oh by the way "tequila doesn't hurt it in fact it helps keep the vocal chords loose" wouldn't you LOVE to throw back a beer with him?
I saw Kenny with Fogerty yrs ago in nyc at this huge halla block from MSG, AND he was so well miked it sounded like a Sabbath concert, lol. he's one of the top names for decades...
Boys and girls you are watching legends ... living legends. Satriani ... he is genius... just sheer genius. I swear it just doesn't get much better than this and a bowl of fine herb.
Sammy’s vocals still rock the house not to mention Mr Aaronoff on the skins omg did he tear that set up or what ? Satch and Michael are world class ...... what a fun show that would have been to see
Saw these guys live twice, once in '08 and once in '12 and both shows were amazing! Stood front row for Joe's guitar and Sammy's ungodly vocals. Couldn't ask for more as an aspiring Rock artist to see the masters at work! Rock it Chickenfoot!
I was at this show (my band played,) and was in the press pit for this set. For some reason, I remember them opening with Sexy Little Thing. So weird. When they went into Rock Candy, the whole place went so crazy you could feel the ground shaking. It was pretty cool.
Setlist : 0:15 Lighten Up 5:36 Big Foot 10:17 Last Temptation 14:22 Sexy Little Thing 19:20 Soap on a Rope 25:40 Down the Drain 37:01 Something Going Wrong 43:04 Jam + Turnin Left 53:17 Future in the Past 1:04:15 Oh Yeah 1:11:00 Rock Candy (Cover from Montrose)
TheMtnMan From Tennessee He was the drummer for the "house band" on PBS' Memorial Day concert. He played rock, r&b, country, and even some Latin stuff. He's multidimensional.
Chickenfoot keep on Chickenfooting us!!! May the Foot not Chicken out and keep this mother running, I think the best is yet to come. I am serious Chickenfoot, if you keep at it you will make some classic songs that will stand the test of time. My muse tells me that Chickenfoot has all the right vibes. At times I wonder if adding a keyboardist would work. Especially one who plays a Hammond B3.. Everyone will hear different things, but in Chickenfoot I hear: Deep Purple, Mountain, Van Hagar, Montrose, and I swear I hear Aliens Surfing
Great new band kinda unappreciated by to many and that is sad. These guys play some awesome rock n' roll like I like it. Four awesome guys on their own. Together they have a in your face rock sound. Take a listen and see for your self. The sound track is good if a bit muffled but nice and clear otherwise. Keep on Chickenfooting guys!!!
AudioMorph. Chad was either on tour with or recording with Red Hot Chili Peppers. Kenny fills in during these times. Both just kill it. Awesome. People tendvto be critical of Chickenfoot but I lived in Cabo where Sammy does part time. They are just having fun. And when they play it's a blast. Many time just out of no where.
+Ken Cordle To me anyone who is critical of this band is just a hater. Whats there not to like if your a rock fan and on top of it you can tell they are having a hell of a good time doing this. I mean you have some of the best players on their instruments in rock. I have always been a huge fan of Michael Anthony's bass sound. Its never been anything flashy, just solid and in the pocket, I mean just listen to the last couple of minutes of "Lighten up" he is absolutely killing it.
Man, that's a lot of knobs on those Marshalls! So accidentally gratified to hear Satch playing some of my riffs/licks that we came up with separately and independently. What a rock fest. If Crooked Vultures and Chickenfoot couldn't make it big, there was no point in me going into music. Guess I will keep on peddlin' pool supplies. 8 )
Sammy, Mikey, you should not even, ever think of going back to VH! This chit you are doing with Joe and Co. is way better...WAY BETTER! Chickenfoot ROCKS and SOUNDS AWESOME !!!
Did anyone else notice Kenny's drum tech tapping on the leg of Kenny's drum throne to give him the tempo to start the next song? 43:13 As a drummer myself, who's sat in with a lot of bands, I guess this would be a great way to get the tempo of the song you're playing next. Nothing worse than sitting in with a band you've had little to no rehearsal time with and being unsure at what tempo they like to play their songs at. I always would just have another member of the band count us in if I was unsure.
Michael played with Eddie, not so bad, no ? And he played wiith Joe, not so bad too ? This band is monster. They just lack of a real single song but who care ? They are ahead of their time. Is this one of the best band you've ever heard ? Maybe yes, maybe no. They're just too good. All in all, thanks to them to gave us that ! And thanks for sharing.
this band is soo good that the only thing that stops em headlining Monsters of rock is their sales coz the talent..the tunes..the hooks..the groove..the youthful energy..they feel and sound like our freaking 80s heavy metal youth...can somebody please ..anywhere give these guys more exposure...
I just want to give a special thanks to Slash for turning down the chance to play with these guys so Satch could show off like this. lol wtf was he thinking?
Funny Ain't it. Kenny is a really solid PRO Drummer, yet Chad has a attack and approach that is hard if not impossible to recreate. I think it is in the open space between the beats. Cheers.
Not really I do like hagar though. More of a satriani fan. Still hagar is showing -normally, I don't mean it negatively- his age and at points, well the vocals are too close for comfort in the mix at that times. On the plus side it is as sincere as it gets and not touched up which I don't like.
81giorikas Oh hey, I'm a Satch fan first and foremost, as well, but I have to say, historically, Hagar has one of the best voices for rock I've ever heard. Best lyrics? No. Kind of cheesy (At times.). Best front man? No. But without a doubt one of the best rock vocalists I've ever heard.
Hagar is legend no doubt. I think he's even aged way better than DLR for example. Lyrics etc I never bothered if I liked the song first and foremost...My comment was more for the overall mix which is poorly balanced...Fuck satriani's guitar is burried and how can you be a rock band without the guitar... His 2010 live paris dvd has some moments like that, I hate the marshall JVMs he's associated with now. I used to have one of those, the peavey he used were much better sounding for him and the 6100LM (marshall) of old was godly (but to be had to be turned low not super loud and that was his main gripe: low sound on stage from his amp).
This crowd must be on qualudes. Can hardly hear them Sammy has to talk sense into them to make them understand they actually came to see real talent that night.
poisedforduty :i think the marshall sounds way better, much more "true guitar" sound, better distortion. Love the marshall! But everyone has is own sound he likes,...
This group did a song named "Learning to Fall." Why is it that with such a great song under their belt did they decide to make a bunch of crap when they have clearly demonstrated that they are so much better when they want to be?
Listen to how good Sammy sounds, You have to remember he is in his early 60's here. 10-13-47... in 2012 Sammy would turn 65... but was 64 when this was done. Red Rocker Rulz...!
he was 64 or 65
Satch was 56 when this went down.... not too shabby either.
Who cares, right? The dude is BAD ASS there's an interview or some s*** where he's talkin' about taking care of his voice and oh by the way "tequila doesn't hurt it in fact it helps keep the vocal chords loose" wouldn't you LOVE to throw back a beer with him?
Besides he transmits tons of energy and good vibrations
Seriously, Kenny Aronoff is a freakin' monster on the drums no matter whether live or in the studio. Great, great drummer!
I saw Kenny with Fogerty yrs ago in nyc at this huge halla block from MSG, AND he was so well miked it sounded like a Sabbath concert, lol. he's one of the top names for decades...
Jim D. Fawcett excelente!!!
So happy we have Chickenfoot, hope more is coming ❤
Boys and girls you are watching legends ... living legends. Satriani ... he is genius... just sheer genius. I swear it just doesn't get much better than this and a bowl of fine herb.

Love this band, I love anything Sammy! Satriani is a master guitarist
Saw these guys live twice, once in '08 and once in '12 and both shows were amazing! Stood front row for Joe's guitar and Sammy's ungodly vocals. Couldn't ask for more as an aspiring Rock artist to see the masters at work! Rock it Chickenfoot!
Way to go Chickenfoot. Nice kicking ass tune. Part sound like Van Hagar and others like Deep Purple. Love this band!
This just put a giant smile on my face. Love Futures in the Past.

Wow. Hagar & Anthony can sing the phone book and it'll fucking ROCK.
I was at this show (my band played,) and was in the press pit for this set. For some reason, I remember them opening with Sexy Little Thing. So weird. When they went into Rock Candy, the whole place went so crazy you could feel the ground shaking. It was pretty cool.

All the talk of Sammy and Joe Satch, but Kenny and Michael are relentlessly driving this.
Without bass and drums you don't have a band
Saw Aronoff with JCM a few times. Never knew he had such chops. Pretty sweet.
TheMtnMan From Tennessee He was the drummer for the "house band" on PBS' Memorial Day concert. He played rock, r&b, country, and even some Latin stuff. He's multidimensional.
+TheMtnMan From Tennessee Aronoff is an incredible drummer btw, played with John Cougar Melloncamp for a long long time
Chickenfoot keep on Chickenfooting us!!! May the Foot not Chicken out and keep this mother running, I think the best is yet to come. Nice catch. He was still rushing a bit though near the end of the solo.

Don't know where Chad was but Kenny Aronoff is awesome! He played drums with John Mellencamp for quite a while.
I just want to give a special thanks to Slash for turning down the chance to play with these guys so Satch could show off like this. lol wtf was he thinking?

Mikey is the shit!
Where's Chad Smith??? I see Kenny Aronoff on the skins.
The chili peppers were on tour.
Duh...that makes perfect sense. Thanks.
+Paw nShop Rocker Good call. this guy pulled it off but he's no Chad Smith.
Funny Ain't it. Kenny is a really solid PRO Drummer, yet Chad has a attack and approach that is hard if not impossible to recreate. I think it is in the open space between the beats.
Cheers.
+Paw nShop Rocker ....Nothin' wrong with Aronoff....
🤘😆🤘
The guitar seems mixed way too low and the drums way too loud.
John Westcott Yeah...vocals "too" up front for the singer's good also.
81giorikas Not a Sammy fan, I take it?
Not really I do like hagar though. More of a satriani fan. Still hagar is showing -normally, I don't mean it negatively- his age and at points, well the vocals are too close for comfort in the mix at that times. On the plus side it is as sincere as it gets and not touched up which I don't like.

Sammy and Michael are how old...Ted Nugent and them should build a band
This crowd must be on qualudes. Can hardly hear them Sammy has to talk sense into them to make them understand they actually came to see real talent that night.

Yeah, Kenny is a monster on the drums!
is it me, or does satrianni sound better with his peavy jsx? the marshalls sound muddy, and doesnt project the same way the peavey did
poisedforduty :i think the marshall sounds way better, much more "true guitar" sound, better distortion. Love the marshall! But everyone has is own sound he likes,...
'Hired gun' on drums
Why is Sammy not playing guitar? every show I've seen he's playing.
The solo at 58

He does on futures in the past.
