I hold UAE residence but don’t live In Dubai The first time I was in Dubai staying near the dubai mall, I thought to myself that it’s a shallow place full of vain look at me types. I told myself I would never move there as I had such a negative impression. However when you get away from the downtown area and go to a normal residential area like Dubai marina or similar and see normal people you’ll notice there is a lot to like about Dubai…things that is missing from western counties. 1. The country has momentum it’s a place where everyone… ( and I mean everyone) is looking to get ahead by work hard and improve there lot in life. #respect 2. You’ll properly never feel safer. 3. Unlike many other popular western expat locations especially in south east Asia getting affordable quality western food is easy. For example my wife and I live in thailand and the western food is grossly overpriced and of such poor quality. 4. Unlike countries like Thailand and Malaysia the the service industry is professional and organised. 5. The government lets you keep your money , leaves you alone and makes you responsible for looking after yourself. ( the way it should be ) Unless you are on a very low salary or receiving welfare benefits I would recommend Dubai over any 5 eyes country or Europe. Dubai is not perfect but the positives outweigh the negatives big time.
I've been seriously contemplating the idea of relocating to Dubai. In fact, I've had the chance to spend a fantastic four-month period there, which made me strongly consider it as my second home. I've always known I was solar powered anyways 😅 - I worked in Dubai for 6 months a few years back, but I kinda decided I didn't want to work for a Dubai company. I was on a big gov. project, which wasn't an issue, even though the hours were 8-6pm, but over time it can drain you. My goal is to do the digital nomad thang. Regardless, perhaps I'll take some timeout in Dubai in a month or so InshaAllah. One thing though, schools are expensive and sometimes there's a waiting list. Given that the vision is to increase the population, I guess more schools are on the way. Just something to consider. UK is going down hill. Just look at how dysfunctional parliament is. What exactly is the UK's vision? You get the feeling the government is working for themselves rather than the people. The leader of Dubai's stated aim is to be the best city in the world...and he owns the place, so he's not stealing from himself. 🤣 The mid east is better than it was before, things have improved. You know that, you'll be away for a couple of years, and will visit UK...and it'll be the same, or just different, but no better.
Running a Democratic Government is hard because you got all these request for welfare payouts but there’s not enough money to go around. There’s no jobs ergo more homeless ergo more welfare requests. So it’s a downward spiral
If you are looking for capital to start a business US is great but if you are bootstrapping it or just working for company as an employee ( with a good passport ) then Dubai is likely better
I have a feeling the reasons you are relocating, will amount to nothing as the USA and Europe put pressure on Arab states to be more in line with their liberal philosophies. The Neom project that you mentioned is financially backed by the USA it is not paid for solely by Saudi. And your piece about schooling and what is not taught in Dubai, reading between the lines, this too will come under pressure from liberal USA Europe to change and become more in line with western schools teaching a very sexually liberal curriculum.
I don’t think they stop gay people at UAE immigration… just do things behind close doors like most people do… If someone is gay then you properly can’t hold hands In public but there properly most definitely gay people in the Uae.. use Common sense.

I juts believe what my skin told me in the 2 years of living in Dubai...my skin was screaming, my body was crying, my eyes were thirsty for green, like real green, not Dubai green...after I quit Dubai I was looking just for deep green for a few months. I hade no eyes for women, just for green, deep, deep green. I can't understand how people can stay there. It is a luxuriant hell, a hot prison etc. I think I still have PDSD ( a version of PTSD) ...a word I invented right now: Post-Dubai-Stress-Disorder, like soldiers returning from Afghanistan...no joke.
