Paul Stanley hates it. He says it's because of how he "felt" during the time of making the album. So if Paul Stanley "hates" it, they don't play it. Want proof? I bet you'll never hear a live show where "Love Gun" isn't played. Why? It's one of his favorite songs that he wrote.

The Kruise folks are shelling out thousands; for their "economy" gigs, you might get a nosebleed outdoor lawn space for $60, but that's about as welcome as G&P are going to make anyone feel nowadays (unless you're buying a painting, casket, or a flag colored guitar).
The Oath was recorded back when Paul was at his vocal peak maturity, it's always going to be impossible to sing like that years later. Eric Singer has done well to emulate Eric Carr's very distinctive drumming style, of course Eric Carr joined Kiss at a time when the band required a new zest of energy.
but ton correct ..heard paul sing the oath in recent years....so sad to hear ..its one of my favourites.. also when paul teased the crowd and did the start of .just a boy....and then made a mess of it. Would have loved it , if he sabg them in the mid 90.s he would have nailed them !!!! So sad to hear him these days....
I wish they play such Songs like The Oath or Is that you on Tour. They have to kick maybe King of the Night Time World or Love Gun from their Setlist, cause they are played to Death - my opinion :)
I Remember when Kiss performed the Oath, & Just a Boy much better back on Jan.15, 1982... These guys are legends & been thru a lot throughout their Career... Long Live the Mighty KISS!!

To bad they didn’t have confidence in it because even though the movie never happened back then someone now could probably put together an amazing animated movie to the album. Kind of what Sturgill Simpson did with Sound and Fury.

+Jaclyn Andrews He have good reasons to hate it, most of his inputs where cut from the album, this is because Ace and Bob Ezrin didn't get along , his few contributions to the album were Dark Light and I believe he also did Escape from the island. Music from the elder is one of those albums where you either love it or hate it, personally I like it.

The Oath is such a kick ass rock song ! i wish they would have played it more when they toured, though i do realise that Paul doesn't like the album.
