I never understood why Paul is so hung up about the failed sales of The Elder. Sometimes it takes time to evolve a classic Kiss Album. The Elder is one of the best. But it took 30 years for this to evolve. I'm sure by now it's a top selling Kiss album.

The Elder was more of Bob Ezrin and Gene's idea. I don't think Paul ever really liked it, but it did lend it's self to Gene's love of fantasy and horror. In my opinion, that album was the best mistake they ever made, one of my favourite KISS albums.
Say what you will about The Elder, but it has its place in KISStory. Fans still dig it. I liked it when I got it for Christmas in 1981…and I still like it today. That crowd reaction says it all, too.

I got it for Christmas that year too on vinyl and cassette my parents always got us both when they got us music and by July I had to replace the cassette cuz I wore it out LOL. I have always like the Elder and Always will..

Such a shame the commercial priorities of the time clouded over the vision in which this album was created, has endured and is probably played as much (if not more) than the other great albums KISS released at the height of their popularity. At least it is in my home, car, work, earphones etc.
FINALLY, the double bass drumming can be heard perfectly! It was a shame that Eric Carr's double bass work on this song ended up getting buried in the mix on the album, but here Eric Singer is free to shine! Sounds wonderful.
My late older brother and I both loved The Elder when it came out. But for the rest who didn't like it at the time, it took time for it to finally grow on everyone as a great KISS album. listen to how the crowd went wild in this video when they started playing. Proof right there.

Both of my parents are gone as well, and he was my only sibling so for now, until I do see them again one day, I am alone with my memories of them all. At the time it was the only one I didn't have and I wanted it so bad, never heard a song from it, but I knew I had to have it. I was relieved when they finally re-released it on CD, and it was awesome!!!
Paul's runnin his vocal range through all the gears and doing an awesome job! Tommy is actually moving and doesn't look like a statue Eric's keeping his drumming as true as he can to Carr's version, much appreciated!!! Gene, well, he's keeping up! The fans are singing along and LOVING IT!!! Sounds just like the album version :)
KISS Forever Singer shoulda stayed with Alice Cooper , I know Kiss's new lineup plays great, and tour with everyone. ...well everyone but Alice Cooper. Cooper's lineup would obliterate and shame Kiss, just ask motley crue their last tour had Alice Cooper as special guest and all the reviews praised Cooper over crue!!!

That being said, am I the only one who wonders while watching this performance what Halford, Dickinson, Tate, Gillian, or Dio would think while watching this performance? Let's see, I had the LP twice(was a kid, scratched up the first one) then I had to have worn out 3 cassette tapes, 2 times as a CD, and then last the remaster, a catagory on its own! Under the Rose and Only You were my favorite. I would play "I" psyching myself up for football and wrestling, So helped my confidence back then.
This is some of Kiss's best music! The only problem is Paul can't hit the high notes, but this them entering the world of Prog-Metal, and it's bad ass! It's also a weird key too. You'd have to get a boy's choir to hit that stuff on key. I discovered this on their appearance on Fridays.
I saw them in 2012 & they played Lick it up & Heavens on fire, so good to see them play the rare songs. I would have rather heard The oath than Rock n Roll all Night.

Very good at what he does but very run of the mill. He sounds like so many others. I find his style cookie cutter and boring.
