Somebody got tired of waiting for a new AC and did this instead. Similarities all over from display style, radio conversation, and even soundtrack. I can’t say I blame them for doing this and it looks great. Good on ‘em!
Yup, AC7 got delayed for a year (since 2015) and some crazy people even bought a PS4 just for the game, not only is wingman on pc but being made by a team willing to be transparent and updating about the product. only thing that could go bad now is a cease and desist letter AKA (BANDAI NAMCO is mad about losing profit).
its not even the first attempt to do so - people want AC games. Problem is - you cant sell much model kits compared to yet another fappity fap figurine so almost every publisher in japan tries to ride idol hype underfunding or even canceling everything else.

C&D only works if someone is using the intellectual property, and this isn't the case here. It has its own story, its own name.

Thats why I had so much hope for Vector Thrust... the mission editor was surprisingly functional for an early-access prototype, Then the developer vanished and the project died

The soundtrack is kicking too. They defiantly did a good job of keeping the AC vibe from the music to the VOs to the gameplay.

Guess we will have to agree to disagree on that. I think it looks pretty awesome and has marked gameplay improvements starting with allies and wingmen who are actually helpful unlike AC cpu allies who couldn't find their own ass with two hands and a map.
My concern is that it's TOO much like Ace Combat... the names of some of the special weapons are identical to Ace Combat ones and the assets are highly similar in design to a lot of Ace Combat (i.e. those hangars in the desert that are sort of a squared-off "U" shape, I've never seen outside AC5). Finally there's the fact that the aircraft names and designs are not under license - this guy can and probably will get shat on by law suits for not having those licenses.
I can understand the concern of being too much like AC. It also needs to find ways to be its own game. As for the license for the aircraft and weapons, I'm not too worried like that. Guns have been used in shooters without having the license by not using the licensed name and making some very small modifications to the design. For instance in the Fallout games the AK-47 is called the Chinese Assault Rifle. It looks like an AK-47 that you know that is the gun model they are referencing but Bethesda isn't being dragged into court over this and I doubt very much that Project Wingman will be either. Probably even less so since it isn't some big budget game.
I'm starting to believe AC7 may finally have have a competitor that may win over then now, the game play is smooth, the complexity of this battle signifies a true assault, the voice action in the making for a story, and the game play is quite nice and AC vibed. Kinda feel like this mercenary force would almost be a good opponent of Galm, tho I wish I can fund this game cause it's amazing

Did you end up playing the released game? AC7 did end up coming to market almost 2 years sooner, but boy was it worth the wait

Why hell did they order to destroy the radars if ground troops were near to them and could capture them to know more about enemy's aerial defence.
Despite this, the game has excellent graphics, voices are welldone, and the gamelay look good.
Belkan Squadron The mission is a hit and run, they abandon the facility after smashing and grabbing. Besides, they have an AWACS in the air.
The voice filter makes AWACS sound like a battle droid from Star Wars at times tho, otherwise it’s really good
If this game had more voice actors... Wow...
Real radar is not that convenient and digging thru the system to get those would take considerable time
And the AWACS already provided them with aerial radar so nah
And there is the facility defender too, better destroy them with 500lbs of exploding goodness rather than risk the lives of the troops

Still, tho, It’s amazing that the enemy has some voice chats as well, and the way they build the airbase looks so cool it even surpasses the final mission base in HAWX 2
Also, it’s interesting that they give us infinite flares. Sure it might not be realistic but considering the missiles here are very hard to avoid, it could help a lot.

You know, listening to Galaxy's banter makes me think of a DJ getting his audience fired up. I guess that makes him the indie version of Long Caster! ...Still I guess that also makes Assassin 1 the indie version of Wiseman, since it seems he's the group's commander.
Pretty much. Basically he is another allied in missions, he's the overall commander of Sicario. Not just it's fighters but it's ground forces, support craft, and special operations. He's also the guy that does briefings. (Along with Stardust.)
Keiser does a whole bunch.

Just bought it for about 8, 9 US$, and by the looks it is a great inspired Ace Combat game - and I really like Ace Combat games.
I really like the vibe that Hitman team has, it really looks like a well flesh out private military contractor company with experience, from what we can see, they are like a full air strategic strike group that it's able to hire ground military forces for missions like this, kind of like Galm or Scarface from AC but on steroids and with more money xD the friendly AI really gives you the sense that you are working in a team, instead of you Vs the entire enemy nation, and your friends flying around doing nothing besides of talking.
This game is getting better and better every time I hear about it.

Until the official release I don't think we will know which mission this is. But judging from ingame dialouge from mission 4, I think this mission might be mission 5 or 6 in full game.

I know this isn't ACE COMBAT but can they bring back the command system ATTACK TGT, DEFEND, COVER, DISPERSE, SPECIAL WEAPONS. With an AI controlled team like in AC5 oh and there called WINGMAN COMMANDS.
I tried the demo and you actually get allies WHO DO SHIT instead of just "being there"
This is true to an extent. They will take on targets and shoot down stuff which is better than AC in that regard but now they have put the expectation of helping my shake locks by coming up and harassing who is targeting me like wingmen are suppose to. They don't do that too well. Overall though a marked improvement.
I also Love Wingman Command too, in addition of Allied Cover and Allied Attack in Ace Combat 6 Gameplay.
Probably still in the works, I mean, this is Project *Wingman* we're talking about.
At the moment, enjoy the fact that your AI allies actually attack, which is quite a problem in the past Ace Combat titles.
I really do wish this was in the game. It needs it badly.

Realism looks amazing
The controls in this game is just phenomenal.. it's way easier to keep track of the enemies while dogfighting and trying to get a gun kill... It also helps that in the current demo build there's a control deadzone and curve adjustments to smooth the controls even more.. Also those gun shelling!!!! fucking satisfying seeing you rounds just pummel the ground targets. I can't wait to use the A-10 in this game whenever it comes out! I think this game is even better than AC7. The controls are just so much smoother than AC7.

This reminds me of the classic ace combat series. Similar feel of the aircraft, similar ui, physics not overdone. This is exactly what I was hoping Bandai Namco would go in the direction of the series.

Holy fricken crap this looks amazing! It's a lot like OG Ace Combat 4/5/Zero/6 before the game took such a cinematic and drastic gameplay shift in horizons and 7. I'm super excited for it!
EDIT: just got home from work and played the Alpha on my 1070 laptop. Looked fantastic, felt fantastic. Solid controls, and was reallly exciting by the thrid mission. Lots of radio chatter, thematically fitting music and overall fun gameplay. It truly is an awesome throw back to a time where Ace Combat was great. Im currently more excited for this than anything provided they can fit some proper writing and wingman character story writing to it.
For an alpha, that was a hell of a lot to show. Lots of respect for these devs thus far.

after playing both AC7 and PW, I honestly and wholeheartedly love PW's aircraft handling and overall combat mechanics. It feels less reflex-twitchy-style gameplay like AC and kinda makes you think a little more. The aircraft handling has more delicious inertia effects to them too.
Also PW's HUD GUI is A LOT MORE aesthetic than AC too. That slightly angled and skewed elements on the screen edges and style just looks better overall then the somewhat plain AC GUI.

My dudes. Project Wingman is looking hella good. I'm down to buy this and AC7. AC7 for the cutscenes and story, PW for the free spirited development and fan feedback.
I kinda wish the voice acting wasn't so heavily muffled. It sounds good, but they sound like they're speaking through a tube.
Sure it's a little more realistic, but AC favored the quality of the voice acting over the realism in the speech.
I prefer their realism over ace combat's clearness
But that's why the games suffered caused they focused too much on voice acting than gameplay, be careful what u wish for, I'd prefer a believable setting and tone than an open clear radio, sets the mood for what real radio chatter would sound if u were in that cockpit plus, AC7 is adding a little radio muffle too ya know

Just tested the Alpha build. Seriously, GREAT GAME. Runs fine on my setup, can't max it, but I can get 60s on medium to high settings.
only one problem with this... and thats the gigantic HUD all over the screen. but I guess you will have to option to change its size
The cockpit view actually has a minimalist HUD that actually only shows up on the *actual* HUD Screen in the cockpit. It's really cool.

@DemonLord OTRT Ace Combat Zero didn't have an "Ace of Aces" difficulty.
Euchre FGC yes there is its called ace difficulty you have to beat the game on expert dum ass shows what you know. I just call it ace of aces because of the ace combat 6 controversy. You must beat the game on hard then expert to unlock ace difficulty pretty mutch I just looked it up to be 100% shure just for you since its been over 15 years since I played it lols
