Yeah it's rather complicated for what's deemed a kids game, my ass a kids game. You too, might see you over at T.R.O.M.S. Live Stream if they're doing one and I am awake.
It's free online, pretty sure there's a good tutorial for it to help you get to grips with the basics, but I started playing ages ago, so no idea if that side of it still exists, I'd assume so. It's well worth trying out if you don't want to buy the actual cards, you can enjoy the addiction without the cost, ha, ha, ha!.
Do you have a day to spare? in all seriousness I learnt it playing without applying Weakness & Resistance, we ignored the fact that Grass Cards are Usually weak to Fire and stuck to the cards basic attacks without multiplying damage, you can add the techy stuff in later, to make life even easier try playing 30 cards 10 Pokemon, 10 Energy and 10 Trainers instead of 60, or better still just dive right in and play online, you'll pick it up after a bunch of loses, then a few wins, after which you'll gain access to new cards to use, helping you come up with your own system to keep bettering your play style and deck.
Yeah but this is one of many, we both have a bunch of different decks. Bellsprout's my favorite Pokémon so I use this deck online against everyone, I mess with it the most for that reason any new cards that can give it an edge over an older one I'll add in, but generally keep its foundation, it's working particularly well at present against the Charizard and Roaring Moon Decks, that or it's plain luck.

In conclusion, I’m still none the wiser 😂. I’ll have to have a 1:1 Pokémon training session when next in your neck of the woods 😄

It's what I like to call freedom through mathematical chaos, the winning combo being 030-1FB-E6A you need the required equipment to access it.
