The two are not incompatible tho lmao wtf. Christian religion says to help your neighbors, and help yourself and yours as well. If we all lived by this belief the world would be a better place prolly. Hate to say it but Carlin was super unbased in his belief or rather disbelief of a higher power tbh.
Jesus himself was against many religious leaders because of the very same things Carlin criticizes in his babbling rant lol ironic.

As an agnostic, who has been forcefully raised in a Lutheran home, I was curious enough to read the Bible when I was in my early teens I didn’t get all the way through it. I skipped the part with the begets and begetting. But here’s the rub. I’ve had an analytical brain forever. I was forced into Sunday school, but I had questions . I asked my Sunday school teacher who did Adam and eves children beget with? A note was sent home to my parents that I should stop asking questions like that they’re not appropriate. Having read the Bible, I asked them about the part that says it is a sin to think you know who God is. I was told we know who God is because it says who he is in that book. Even though the Bible says that the devil really has no influence over people, God is in control of everything that happens. So when I asked Sunday school teacher, why does god allow evil? I’m told it’s not God it’s the devil making the evil people. Let’s see what else…Christian religion is based entirely on incest between the children of the first two humans created. In that book women were created to be subservient to men. That’s why in Lutheran churches women have no voice. They are there to prepare the food for the after church banquet. This went on and on and on until the church elders finally showed up at my house and said according to their records, I haven’t given enough money to the church based on my estimated earnings. And they actually published a pamphlet with every members total contributions not in alphabetical order -in dollar amount order. They kicked me out of the church because I quoted that, in the second book of Matthew verse 10. It says you should not gather on the corner with the hypocrites to worship you should worship in your closet alone, for you will be favored, they rushed out of my house and I got a letter two weeks later saying I was excommunicated. People need to use their brains more. I don’t need a list of 10 things I shouldn’t do. I know what I shouldn’t do. I’m a good person. But if I, don’t repent before I die. I’m going to burn. Nobody knows anything about it until they’re actually dead. I wouldn’t be so hard on religion if there weren’t so many people telling me that their beliefs are right when they don’t even know. You were the first spiritual person I have seen, that can actually except my beliefs and not make me except yours. I accept your beliefs. You have the right to believe whatever you want. I’m sorry this rant is going on so long but, I need to tell this to someone who is not gonna judge me and that is you. I love you I’ve only known you a week. See you in heaven.❤

Miss Britt, I'm an atheist and have been since I read the Bible at nine years old. I've studied Christianity, Islam, Confucianism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Zen. The fact is each steals from others. The story of Horus is the story of Yeshu is the story of Buddha. I find it rather sad that when people cannot explain their faith they resort to abuse. Christians and its various denominations accuse you of worshipping the devil if you are an atheist and condemn you to hell though they do not have that authority. When you explain that we don't have that delusion because we don't believe in your faith, they fall back on, 'well you never read the Bible.' I know more about the Bible; the old Testament and the new than they do.
I also enjoy telling them that according to the old Testament god battled the great Sea Dragon in order to build the world, so Yahweh fought Godzilla🤣🤣🤣! and you call us crazy?
My answer would be, the first of the great promises in your faith was free will, why are you suddenly deciding that my free will is less important than yours?
The result is a screaming mess of frustration, lack of education and fury that they are not being seen for the righteous person that they are. When everything thing that they're doing proves that this is the last thing they are.
If you wish for book learning, please look up this lady, Francesca Stavrakopoulou, a British biblical scholar or the Agatan Foundation, who have regular debates between atheists scholars and biblical scholars.

@@Malhaloc If Jesus ever existed at all the historical Jesus was a random preacher and faith healer who did nothing but perfectly mundane things like all the others but managed to become notable to the people at the time. @Malhaloc Рік тому

@@immortalfrieza You'd be hard pressed to find a historian who doesn't believe that Jesus was a real person who was crucified. In most discussions, even with atheists, that's not even a debate. The debate is about the supernatural aspect. So how do you handle Jesus' claim to be God?

    • @immortalfrieza
      @immortalfrieza Рік тому

      @@Malhaloc
"So how do you handle Jesus' claim to be God?"
First, one needs to prove he personally ever actually claimed that he was God.
Second, Jesus would subsequently need to prove with actual evidence that he not only is God, but that God Himself exists.
The claim is massively more likely to have never occurred and was made up by Jesus' followers to make him look good. If Jesus actually did say so that doesn't prove anything than that one man believed himself to be God. Jesus would still have to prove that he actually is God for that claim to be true.

He, and my mom but more begrudgingly, told me my senior year in high school that they didn't think I enjoyed church any longer and that I didn't have to attend. They told me and my sister when she was older that they wanted us to find our own path in life, and to choose it as we say fit. They only asked that I carry on being kind, generous loving to all people no matter what and carry with me the morals they tried to instill in me growing up. My sister stayed with the church, and not once has my parents or sister judged me or tried to guilt me over my faith or lack there of. Keep up the great work!!

    ‭‭Ya‛aqoḇ (James) 1:27
"Clean and undefiled religion before the Elohim (God) and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."
To say religion is bad is to misuse the word unless you refer to the false world religions such as Catholicism, Budaism and the countless others all of which are crafted from the imaginations of men.
There is the one true religion in the Scriptures (Bible) and there are the many false religions of the world.

He did come to our baptism (I guess we were converts) but he stayed away from my confirmation. I eventually started to ask questions ( I’ve always had a science/nature interest thanks to both of my parents) and my dad straight up tells me that I have to go to church because my mom wants me to. I also have to read the Bible because she wants me to. But that it’s absolutely okay to have questions. That I should ask her and the church elders and everyone else at the church my questions. If they can’t answer them then he and I will go to the library and research it. But most importantly that I needed to read the Bible. That has stuck with me. Reading the Bible and then discussing it with people that are supposed to be experts especially those that also have a science background are absolutely frauds. These people him and ha and move goal posts better than any lawyer… those rationalizations and bull shitting should become a Olympic level sport. The arguments I had with the high school Sunday school teacher who was a biology professor at the local college was epic. I have no idea how he was even a professor. His understanding of biology was legitimately biblical and not scientific. Ultimately I passed off both of my parents and became a pagan in my late teens and early 20s but still with a big focus on biological science. I’m a atheist today in my late 40s I still read the various study bibles and they still maintain my skepticism. • @learobinson4450
      @learobinson4450 Рік тому +1

No. There’s a big difference between being Spiritual & religious. Being Spiritual is believing & having faith in a Higher Power. Religion is the hierarchy, ritual, dogma & ceremonies centered around the belief & was created by men.
One can Spiritual without practicing any religion. You can believe in God(s) and not go to Church or Temple or Synagogue. You can believe in God(s) without going through with any of the rituals associated with organized religion, which was created by men to control & manipulate others.
You can also practice religion without any true belief in God(s). You can pray & light candles & say the rosary without any real conviction that there is actually a God to see & hear you.
Spirituality/Belief/Faith & religion are two separate things. You can have one without the other.

There is very little in books to justify non belief unless you take the various religious books and point out all the complete wrong information about the start of the world. Mainly my views developed from commonsense and the terrible actions of people in the past. The people who were murdered in god's name.

This post will go against pretty much 99.9% of the comments here. Which again, unfortunately reflects more on the abuses of who God is and His word that many in the name of Christ have used to twist God for power, gain and pride.
George Carlin was convinced that Christianity (or any religion for that matter) was the cause of many problems with society. I would argue that it has been the twisting of who God is and His word that is the problem. I think that is what you are saying also.
Unfortunately the entertainment industry and those in it for the most part contributed greatly to what is increasingly a godless nation. Im sure George, after he died, smiled proudly thinking upon his contribution and correct conclusions as he stood before God. Sad, if so, and hopefully I am wrong. Maybe George like the thief on the cross asked for mercy on his deathbed.
The definition of a folk hero and who to look up to has certainly changed through the years that is for sure.
Was George Carlin a wise man?
Romans states “Let God be true and every man a liar”
If one believes the Bible, then I would conclude..no…Mr Carlin was not very wise…
    1 Corinthians 3:18-20
“If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness"; and again, "The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."
If you have not, I hope you can find a place to worship with other believers, we need each other.
The Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation but in fellowship with other believers.
For this reason, Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us to:
“consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
If we hope to grow spiritually and endure for the long haul, we need our brothers and sisters in Christ for encouragement. In fact, God commands this.

The 50/50 reference is just him saying that it's no different than chance. Also.. belief is really just another way of saying you are convinced. I find it odd that people can be convinced of a thing that has no evidence. You say you don't follow religion but from what you say, you still believe a lot of what's in the bible? I went through this phase of belief without religion.. I think that was my deconstruction starting point. Just ask a few more questions, seek out a few more answer.. don't stop here. Doubt shouldn't be a sin, our brains are wired to find the truth. Doubt is a sign that you maybe might not be convinced.

I worship the Sun. That's why I travel to Brazil every year or so. 🌞
Now seriously: The Egyptians worshipped the Sun, as many ancient civilizations worshipped the Sun, the Moon and planets.
This is basically why we have Sun-day, Moon-day, Satur-day in a week of 7 days: because we see 5 planets plus the Sun plus the Moon moving around in the sky along a year. This is also why Mithras and many others (including Jesus) "died" and "resurrected" after 3 days: because the Sun "stops on the horizon" for 3 days (around 21st-24th December) and then "revives", resuming its annual movement on the horizon.
Religion is a human invention. Our ancestors hadn't television or internet... and so: entire families, entire tribes used to observe the stars every night, and then they invented gods, all living in the sky.
