The Saboteur is an action-adventure video game developed by Pandemic Studios and published by Electronic Arts. The game is set in German-occupied France during World War II, and follows Sean Devlin (based on William Grover-Williams), an Irish race car driver and mechanic, who joins the French Resistance to liberate Paris.

As unbelievable as it sounds, Sean's character - along with all of his exploits - is based on a real person named William Grover-Williams.
Even his name sounds fake. I can totally see William Grover-Williams as one of the western athletes in that Japanese baseball game where all foreign names were super goofy and uncanny- second only to Sleve McDicheal, Rey McScriff and Mario McRlwain.

Tough to be named William Williams with Grover in between. When his parents decided on a name for their son, they were either just uncreative and boring, or they thought it'd be funny if their son had (pretty much) the same first and last name. Lol 😋

The Saboteur is legitimately an amazing game, and it's a crime that EA mishandled the marketing and left the series to die in a vault - it could really shine with a remake or full-on sequel!
Note you also don't need to idle, there's actually a "smoke" button! It's clicking in the stick on controller, not sure of the PC key - but being able to casually light up a cigarette while shit blows up behind you is a key feature of this game!
It's the same on PC. Just click the sprint button when you're standing still.

They were in the super early stages of planning/making a second until EA closed pandemic studios. There was an article I read a couple years ago that discussed some of the game progress they had made before studio closure.

As an Irishman, this was one of my favorite games growing up, always thought it was so underrated!
For real, it's so rare to play these kind of characters with anything even resembling real-world insurrectionary movements
The cows just blowing into chunks when you hit them with the car is something I will never be able to unsee…really enjoying the “British” mechanics adventures.
I hope Kevin will do a complete play through. The pure joy in his voice when he's playing makes it such a great video

I might be a single commenter with no way of reaching people, but I wouldn't mind a full series of these kind of games. I'm just a little sad that it's all about how well a video does. So, here's hoping this video travels far enough to bring us more of this in the future.. ♥

@@sirweebs2914 to be honest I was born with a shitty heart so it’s not like this is a surprise so I have that going for me. But seeing as I can’t get my heart rate up too high i literally can’t do much. It’s cheesy but Kevin’s videos have definitely helped me SO much I watch him constantly. To add to the cheesiness my family has also been a massive massive support system so all things considered I’m super lucky I don’t have to do this alone. 🥰

My first encounter with this game was years ago when I found it in my friend's XBOX. At first I was gonna skip on it but then I decided to give it a try and it was way more fun than I thought it would be. So glad to see you playing it again as it brings back memories of both myself and you playing it.

Kevin took the Cattle Raid of Cooley to a whole other level. Instead of Cú Chulainn going crazy, Kevin is just crazy from the start and creates an entirely new conflict by murdering all the cows. Well done for incorporating such a fantastic piece of history!

This game taught me that cows are apparently made of papier mâché filled with blood bags and raw steaks and explode on impact like the world's worst piñata, while bushes are made of steel frames that can't be driven through not even by armoured vehicles.

I loved this game! The way the world goes from black-and-white to full colour as you progress is so atmospheric and a really nice way to chart your progress.

Little known fact: You can actually smoke on demand in this game, sure Sean will auto smoke by idling, but if you click the left stick and stand still he'll light up a cigarette.

There are actually a lot of melee attacks depending on what you do, such as holding back and doing two quick attacks which hits somebody in their stomach and stuns them, or backward attacks. You can also pick somebody up and punch/headbutt people held.
I sure wouldn't mind an HD release of this game. Had such a blast (hurrhurrhurr... Pun) playing this absolute gem. Like assassins creed with guns, C4 and Na... The bad guys from ww2.

There is a funny easteregg is you get enough perks to unlock the Aurora Machine gun within the first mission and kill Dierker within the race.
