- Great comedy requires intelligence, and that’s why we know Blim is a genius. You’ll be laughing all day long at Blim’s jokes and pranks if you decide to play this deck. Opponent laughter is optional. The deck is built around using and donating/gifting huge cards to your opponents which have great upside for you, and terrible downsides for them. Gifts include Lich cards, Head Games, and group hugs for everyone except one guy, like Xantcha. Blim’s style will keep you on the edge of your seat, as you watch your board state, and those of your opponents, teeter on the edge of hilarious disaster! I’ve nearly killed myself with this deck, and I have killed others with it. This is comedy, this is entertainment, this is Rakdos!
WARNING: The original tech had the card, "Lich" in it. That card does not work the way I described in the video! Buyer beware! I have replaced it in the deck list with Lich's Tomb, which is a decent card in this deck. Imp's Mischief would be fun, too!

Wonderful and entertaining deck! Used your list and I have fun with it. I also included Possibility Storm and usually play it after giving gifts for a longer entertaining show.
I've always enjoyed a good Possibility Storm, but it has a lot of critics at my usual table. I hope it goes well for you! :)

This is gonna be my 5th rakdos deck
I'm going to include Abyssal Persecutor to keep combo players from stopping the show to early. I also think that Uba Mask is synergistic with Blim's discard ability without adding any additional hand disruption
Uba Mask is an interesting idea. I didn't really consider Abyssal Persecutor too much, but he's a good add!

How would you setup the 99 commander deck with the options of form of the dragon, steel golem, grid monitor, grafted skullcap, pyromancers swath, abyssal persecutor, uba mask, and Asmodeus ?
Well, Form of the Dragon, Steel Golem, Grid Monitor, Grafted Skullcap, Pyromancer's Swath and Abyssal Persecutor wouldn't require many changes, as they're all doing something that is bad for your opponents. The thing is, these may be even riskier than the Lich cards, since they provide no benefit to you if you can't get rid of them for some reason, while the Lich cards let us draw cards (and eventually lose in a fun way!). That said, you'll want to make sure you're packing a lot of removal, as much for your own stuff as for your opponent's. Removal will be your panic button. I used to run some of these cards in a Zedruu build, but it worked nicely there because Zedruu donates things at instant speed with an activated ability. With Blim you need to be more careful because of his timing, and the requirement of combat damage. So yeah, pack a lot of removal, more than usual, preferably instant speed, and make sure it's got as low of a mana-cost as your budget can afford. I know that low mana value, instant speed removal can be pricey.
As for Uba Mask and Asmodeus, I'm not sure I understand where they fit in. It seems like maybe you've got some idea for exile here, but I'm not sure what your plan is with them. Uba Mask is symmetrical, so even if you give it away it's going to affect your draws. The only place I've ever used it is in Bell Borca, because he's already doing impulse draw, and impulse draw actively benefits him. Asmodeus is an awesome card, but the only way I can see to abuse it with Blim is by paying it's BBB mana cost to draw and then exile 7 cards, then giving Asmodeus away and hoping that your opponent will also pay to draw with him, eventually taking damage to give you those cards you exiled (along with giving his/herself a bunch of cards). If they have less than 15 health, there's no way they'll do that. I think there are better card selections if that is your plan (Phyrexian Etchings first and foremost), but if you just really like Asmodeus and don't mind that level of jank, go for it! Or maybe I'm missing an important synergy that you're building around with it, in which case please let me know about it, because I love Asmodeus too!
@@UncommonCommander Well im not very good with Magic. I just got back into after 20 years with the Forgotten Realms commander decks. I really like the format and those were cards suggested for a Blim deck. I wanted to play a uncommon commander and something that uses the really negative cards so Blim was a natural draw towards. Is there any updates/upgrades you would further suggest?
@@merrickmiller1224 Well, that's ok, welcome back to MTG! Those are all good cards for a Blim deck, I just wanted to provide my warning to be careful with Blim and "bad gifts", because you can get stuck with them nearly as easily as your opponents can.
Unfortunately, I haven't really been looking at new cards with Blim in mind, so I'm not sure what's been released since this video that would be good for the deck. If you're wanting to find cards, I recommend going to scryfall.com, clicking "advanced search", clicking both black and red under "Commander" (indicates your commander's color identity), and typing some stuff into the "Text" field. For instance, typing "lose the game" in there will show cards in red and black that will cause either you or your opponent to lose the game if a certain condition is met. Those can be fun gifts.
Anyway, that's where I'd recommend looking if you want to find cards on your own. EDHREC.com is another great resource, especially for beginners. Just look up Blim, and it'll give you a whole page of cards that can work well with him. I hope this helps!
@@UncommonCommander Thanks for the reply. I didnt know about scryfall, but edhrec is something im learning to use. My problem is I dont know whats good or what I should have. I watched a few commander deck building videos but those unfortunately assume you know what everything does already instead of coming into it essentially fresh. I gotta go off premade guides like yours which I enjoy until I learn the meta. Some sources though provide convenient upgrade choices and what you should pull from a deck, I was hoping you had any after thoughts for the Blim deck.
