Blum is really good. If you don’t get suppressed you make your opponents go into topdeck mode. Dream devourer is great for this deck because you prepay for cards and don’t have to discard. Make sure to run enough mana rocks.

Red Black is a very good color combination for making your opponents hate you, lol. Blim is very fun, it plays like a more psychotic Zedruu. This deck seems very funny to play, though I don't play Red Black a lot.
Edit: regarding flying, the other kind of creatures that can block flyers in addition to flyers are creatures with reach.
Edit 2: regarding Colfenor's Plans, I believe that you are incorrect. According to the official text on WotC's website The Gatherer, the card says "You may look at the cards exiled with Colfenor’s Plans, and you may play lands and cast spells from among those cards". It does not say "from among those cards that you exiled". However, I don't see this as too much of a downside for your deck, given the kinds of cards that you put into it, with the opponent likely having no way to get rid of the cards.

The inofficial goal of Commander is to build the biggest, dumbest Rube-Gholdburg machine you can possibly assemble and then try to go off with it. Most of the time, when playing commander in Casual, you're not even trying to win, you're just trying to see what bullshit you can get up to along with the other players.
So yeah, you get it. 10/10 commander deck fits the bill perfectly. You've played the game for a month and already have a solid grasp on the very essence that makes commander fun!
As a final note, while I personally don't like the deck (not my style) I'm just here for the enthusiasm that carrys the vid! It's always awesome seeing someone get into it, and in what new and cool ways they try to break the game.

  • @Worgak
    @Worgak 2 роки тому +12

It's gonna be hilarious when you get instant spped interacted, leaving you with your own game ending enchantment. And honestly, if I was the pilot of this deck, I'd call that a inofficial alternate wincondition for myself of this deck. Yes I might be able to troll my friends with this. But it's going to be even funnier when I Icarous myself and ended up blowing myself up due to my own hubris.
"The goal isn't to win, but to troll all of ya'll and then get myself blowed up by my own nonsense in the process"

    Recommendations:
-perhaps use twin blades instead of fireshrieker, or both
-maybe for defense, consider using more creatures for ramp, card draw, and removal. Such as llanowar elves and murderous rider.
-keep in mind that simply a large creature (ie: vanila 5/5) isn’t gonna put in much work in cmdr.
-are you playing rouges passage in the land base?
-make sure you have 10 ramp, 10 draw, 10 single target removal, 2-4 board wipes. The usual.
-have some sacrifice outlets in care you get stuck with the bad cards and no mana to cats blim. Maybe claws of gix or something simple like carrion feeder
-you’ll want to make sure you have enough ways to win the game beside “eh, ill get enough value.” Maybe some vultron equipment and things to cmdr damage people out with blim since you’re attacking so much.
Hope that’s helpful. Great video, wiuld love to see more. :)

    • @OffbeatOutlaw
      @OffbeatOutlaw  2 роки тому +2

Might consider adding twin blades! I have some ramp in here just didn’t go over it in the vid cuz I wanted to focus on the funny. Yeup I have rogues passage.
With double strike and megrim, a card that makes opponents lose 2 life per card discarded, blim can deal 17 damage per attack, I have a bunch of cards that deal damage on discard, should I maybe get more or get more defense?
      Thanks for the tips!

The things I like about Nefarious Lich and Lich's Mastery is when you give it to someone, if you lose, he loses. He also can't just disenchant these things from himself like most other things in the game. If someone gets enchanted by this his only hope is to cooperate with you to defeat two other players and then defeat you, this is the only way to escape the death trigger. Yes, he becomes your slave until there are no other players, and then, if it is Nefarious Lich, you can just chaos warp it and win and if it's Lich's Mastery, you can just beat him with Blim, every Blim's attack will be removing at least six of his things from the game.

Love the deck, and hearing it's a budget deck makes me laugh cause I have forgotten the days when I started with a group and we slowly increased our budget for magic as we grew up. Can't wait to hear more of this chaotic energy deck.
Oh a side note though be careful when gifting Colfernor's Plans cause your opponent can (and if lucky should) play what is exiled with the Plans. Granted there are some checky and goofy ways to manipulate that but with the deck under a budget and this league being more fun than competitive from the sounds of it then I wouldn't worry and just go for full chaos and enjoy the game as you see fit.

Some things to consider to help your play:
Abyssal Persecutor can, once sent to an opponent, protect you from Demonic Pact or Nefarious Lich if you can't get rid of them fast enough. But, at the same time, if you give Abyssal Persecutor to one player and Demonic Pact or Nefarious Lich to another, you have to get rid of the Persecutor or the player controlling it before the other cards become useless.
Nefarious Lich will prevent Blim triggering against that player. You aren't dealing combat damage anymore off of them, so you need to attack other players instead.
Some of your protection effects can be used to keep your opponents from clearing away the bad cards you give them. For example, make their Abyssal Persecutor indesctructible and they can't just kill it with combat damage or a board wipe.
Taking 21 damage from a commander is another way to lose, so even beyond his effect, Flying will make Blim a big target.
Cards like Harmless Offering and Custody Battle synergize well with Blim, since he also affects them just by having cards in play they don't own.
There can sometimes be a benefit in giving Blim himself to another player. He still goes back to you when killed or bounced, and you can still benefit from them getting the triggers to swap cards.
Also, for Nefarious Lich, "remove from play" is just the old way of saying "leaves the battlefield." It doesn't need to be exiled. Destroy it, bounce it, or exile it. Just like how "Summon" is the old term for a creature.
Colfenor's Plan will keep those cards exiled and you cannot play them... But your opponent can. "You" refers to the controller of Colfenor's Plans, not the owner of the exiled cards. I looked it up and that's been confirmed. Its considered a bad card as a result. The only "good" use people have found for it is pretty well what your deck does. Give it away, with the key points of hoping there's nothing valuable in the 7 cards you lost or casting them first, then giving it away seven turns later. With Commander, that first option is less of an issue since they are still stuck within their colour limits. Hard for them to play your Psychotic Fury when they have no red mana sources or if they have a mono colour deck, even if it is red.
Overall, though, I like the idea. It won't win often, but I like decks with fun strategies and combos, even when they aren't reliable for winning. My favourite of such combos (I don't recall if its budget but I got lucky getting them from packs when they came out) would be Consuming Aberration and Phenax, God Of Deception. Consuming Aberration is a creature, cost is 3BU. Its power and toughness are each equal to the total number of cards in all graveyards. And whenever you cast a spell, target player reveals the top card of their library until they reveal a land, then sends all cards revealed this way to the graveyard. Pretty good on its own already. Phenax, however, is a legendary enchantment creature, same mana cost of 3BU. Indestrucible 4/7, not a creature unless your devotion (total symbols among permanents you control) to Blue and Black is 7 or greater. Creatures you control have "T: Target player mills X cards, where X is this creature's toughness". Your Aberration's toughness is equal to the cards in all graveyards, so tapping it to mill equal to its toughness basically doubles its toughness. That alone, while slow, is very powerful, though you do need to be careful since an opponent losing means their graveyard is taken out of play, weakening your Aberration, so you need to split up targets. But if you use Clone effects to get multiple Aberrations or get untap methods, that doesn't matter as much. Use a basic Clone to copy your Aberration, which first triggers its effect and makes someone mill through a land (and doubles that trigger for the future), then you can easily mill someone out in only a turn or two. Let's go with the bare minimum of one card total across all graveyards with your Aberration and Phenax out (one card after several turns is almost impossible, but the bare minimum so the Aberration won't die). Cast Clone, get a second Aberration, and be conservative and say they top deck a land, so each Aberration is only a 2/2. Tap the older one with Phenax's ability, target player mills 2 and they become 4/4s. With no untap abilities, next turn players mill 4 more tapping one Aberration, making them 8/8s, then another 8 with the next, making them 16/16s. And again, that's conservative, as only a single card in all graveyards by the time you can cast all of those is unlikely. Plus protecting them from removal will trigger both Aberrations, and being a mill deck would mean you have other mill effects to ramp it up.
Another fun one that sadly isn't budget is Cathar's Crusade. White enchantment, 3WW. Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, each creature you control gets a +1/+1 counter. Combos well with so many other cards, especially swarming effects and X values that determine power and toughness (X can be zero and they won't just die). But the simplest is Champion of Lambholt. 1GG for a 1/1 sounds expensive on its own. Creatures with power less than Champion of Lambholt's can't block creatures you control. Already a good combo, as swarming is usually smaller creatures, and will pump the creatures and CoL making them harder to block. But its got another effect. Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, put a +1/+1 counter on Champion of Lambholt. It already buffs itself when you swarm. With Cathar's Crusade, its getting 2 counters for every creature that enters the battlefield under your control, and they all get a counter whenever something enters as well. And Cathar's Crusade does give a counter to the creature that just entered. So CoL will enter with a counter, playing another 1/1 will make CoL a 4/4 and that new creature a 2/2, and your opponents can't block with anything that has less than 4 power. This can get really insane with some cards, but they're all rather expensive (*cough*doublingseason*cough*). But any swarming or creature card is enough. Cast Gather The Townsfolk, get 2 1/1 human creature tokens (5 if you're low on life), each one gets 2 counters and CoL gets 4, meaning from its 1/1 state, your opponents need to block with creatures that have 5 or more power. Pretty soon they're effectively unblockable. But that does put a big target on CoL and you, so its good that White is known for vigilance. Again, not really budget, at least not Cathar's Crusade, but not too expensive ($4 for CC and $0.20-0.30 for CoL, according to tcgplayer), you might be able to fit them into a $25 deck depending on the cost of the other cards, which shouldn't be too tough given you can get by pretty well with low cost vanilla creatures if you really need, most of the costs going to the protection.
I would love to see more videos like this though. I can see just from your D&D builds that you'll make the same kind of insane fun if unreliable decks I love.

This looks like a fun deck. If you want to make your friends really hate you, there are a bunch of cards the gain control of an opponent's creature and gives them haste until end of turn. Then give those creatures permanently to someone else.
Also, there is a $2 enchantment called Grave Betrayal. It basically reads whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, return it to the battlefield under your control with an additional +1/+1 counter at the beginning of the next end step.
You give it to someone else, then blow up the field (you can even let them take your commander) then play or steal your commander back on your next turn and attack with it (haste helps). If you pull this off, the person you gave Grave Betrayal to loses life and discards for each creature that they got from all their opponents.
Probably bad, but over the top and hilarious.

  • @Olav_Hansen
    @Olav_Hansen 2 роки тому

5:13 enables the opponent to discard the 6/6. If you are at 0 at that point, you lose.
Bad effects can combine into becoming synergy, it's better to give him a bunch of 0 attack creatures instead.
A couple months ago I played magic the gathering arena (magic the gathering smartphone app). The first deck I build there was my "discard scumdeck". It was a mono black deck that rapidly exhausted the enemies hand. Meanwhile I had cards that would allow me to draw, cards that killed specific creatures and cards to create tokens. My main win condition was to just have a full field and hand against their empty one, but I had a couple of cards that enabled me to go another route. One of those was to bring in an item that could be tapped additional times for 4 mana/tap. It either made the opponent discard a hand/field card or take 3 damage. another one was a permanent that caused the opponent to lose life if I lost a creature, with me gaining life if he lost one. good synergy with the tokenspawn so I actually got quite a good winrate with it.
Gimmick decks in magic are fun, but keep an eye on synergy. Most of your deck looks pretty good in that regard, but I don't know if you really want the 'discard creature' one. Although do keep in mind I am also not a veteran.
14:43 it doesn't stop cards that say "discard target creature" since discarding is not considered "destroying".
And I have witnessed (once) that I got attacked by a creature with either unblockable or 'can only be blocked by 2 creatures or more', that also had an effect of making the opponent discard a monster.
There's also this effect 'hexproof' that makes sure that the creature can't be targetted, but if there's a card saying 'discard the monster with the highest attack' it will both bypass hexproof as well as indestructable.
16:12 that would work extremely bad against my mono black, you just gave me a reason to draw 2 cards instead of 1. If you can pay to field the card, I can probably pay to summon/foretell whatever I had left in my hand. This is another situation of 'sounds good, but isn't against everyone'. Against me one of your best uses would probably even be to keep it yourself, because I'd keep you decked out.

don't forget about commander damage. commander damage means that if a target commander has directly dealt a total of 21 damage to a player, then that player loses. since you are centering the whole deck around your commander being the only creature entering combat with them, then they would most likely die from commander damage more than anything else. only glaring weakness I notice is that, enemy players could play an instant that makes your cards backfire on you, like them exiling nefarious lich right when you play it, before getting the chance to pass it off to someone else.

I want to give advice but you already put some really good cards in there. Was gonna recommend Key to the City but I just had to wait a minute for you to bring it up yourself. I will say, protection goes a long way when most of your deck relies on your commander. I don't play Black or Red very much so I don't know a lot of cheap card there, maybe Oblivion's Hunger as you can use it to protect your creatures (mainly Blim) or even the creatures you give your opponents that they're trying to destroy, Undying Evil and similar cards to protect Blim works too. I'm pretty sure there's cheap equipments (money wise) that give hexproof like Mask of Avacyn. Personally I think Vigilance is good, it's great, but if all a card does or the entire reason it's in your deck is because gives something else vigilance, than you need a really good reason for that. I would prefer not to even block with a commander like Blim, instead using card(s) to stop your opponent from attacking, or attacking you. Not sure what's in Black/Red to do that besides Goad cards. Even if an equipment gives something a decent toughness boost plus vigilance, your opponents are still gonna have something that can just kill it because your blocking with it like instant deathtouch or a lightning bolt, or the can just cast something like murder to target and kill it. Hexproof and blocking only when you need to goes a long way in protecting your creatures. I assume you have ways to remove enchantments because either your opponent has a good one or they got rid of Blim before you can give one of your "bad" ones to them, but I am going to quickly mention Feed the Swarm anyways. It's like Murder and Disenchant in one.
That's just my opinion, I've been playing magic and different card games for a while, YGO for almost 20 years and MTG for a little over 10 (makes me sound like I know what I'm doing. I don't), but not a lot of chances the last few years to actually play, and every play group is different. My first commander deck was just my first deck ever made (from when I was like 9 on Christmas, slowly upgraded over the years) transformed into a commander deck, got Omnath Locus of Mana and just swung with big creatures. Because my commander was such a high threat as it could both improve my mana and what cards I could play, it can also easily kill someone in a single hit thanks to Trample and cards like Key to the City, so other players got rid of it as soon as possible. Just having a few protection cards really slowed or stopped that entirely. But Omnath is kinda boring, Blim looks very fun, meaning depending on who you play with, they will always kill Blim when they can, or they will never kill Blim. So the amount of protection you need varies. In my group, I'd need some but not a lot because my friends like the chaos, but I'd still need some mostly for late game.
(I will mention my play style is somehow both extremely reckless and very cautious. As I do not care about my life total in the slightest, the only life point I care about is the last. Or at least the effective last one with commander damage being a thing. But I play so I always have a backup plan, or if I don't, I play the safest option. I don't know if that affects my advice or not, cause others might disagree with what I think is more important, I think your cards are more important than your life total as long as you won't lose. Feed the Swarm is a good idea of how I play, since you probably won't kill yourself with it, but getting rid of a card is more important than your life total. Depending on the decks I'm against, I feel the same with 1 life as I do 1000. If they have a Shock or Lightning Blot I'd like to be at 5 life please. Also it looks like for Colfenor that those are 2 separate lines of text, meaning you still need to control the card in order to play the ones you exiled, so your opponent will gain access to them once they gain control of it. Still a great card for the deck.)

For Colfenor’s Plans, my ruling would be that it doesn’t say "that you removed", but I haven’t seen the oracle text. So yes your opponent could play them.
Edit: I’m not an official judge

Your opponents could play them because how it reads, it was a way to joke kill newer players with some card interactions. Phage the untouchable usually was under Plans and new people didn't realize that casting it would kill them once the Plans was donated to another opponent with Phage under it.

Your opponent can play cards you exiled with colfenor's plan, but colors of your and his deck may not match, so it can be quite problematic for them to do so

    Blim + Fireshrieker combo.
Fun the lols.... tho I think you will be the only one laughing. Let me Introduce you too something in the back. Hang on.
    Inquisitor's Flail
So equip this with the Fireshrieker to Blim.
Attack , and see of you hit.
    If so
4 damage and one of your permanents.
Double Strike hits for another 4 (8 total) and another of your permanents
    Now
The Flail kicks in for another 8 damage (16 total) and a yes he is dealing the damage so yes a third activation for a third permanent.
    Roflmao
Editor Note: may want to look at a enchantment named Dust Corona for sudo- unblockable. Reach can still get ya.

As someone who's played multiple card games I can tell you what you've built is a troll / mill deck and they work against noobs most of the time simply because they can't handle the mechanics, but any skilled player is probably going to lock you out before you can get your crazy combos off unless you get really lucky.
    they are funny sometimes tho.
