I'm sorry too, Mitch. I'm sorry too. However, as far as reasonable upgrades go, first up at 14:11, there's me! As of this posting, my lowest TCGPlayer market price is $3.24 for my Commander 2013 printing. Please reprint me until I'm a budget card again.
WOTC can’t reprint pure fire like you everyday. You’re right up there with the fetchlands. Just imagine the world we’d be living in if everyone had easy access to the mana base they wanted.
If you get a reprint it will be at uncommon in a limited print product droping your value between $1 and $2 for a month or so. Everyone fiending for that reprint will buy up any excess supply until the price returns to what it is currently. But I hear ink is reasonably priced these days!
I have an expensive Oloro deck, I was in the mood to build a budget version so I can just place my commander down and play more casual games with friends, this list will help make that a reality! Thank you.
Oloro is one you may have to "prove" is nice from my experience. When I see it across the table I default attack them, and I think that's correct in the blind at least 😉 good luck 👍
@@somersetbassett4580 agreed. But I have a good relationship with my group, we all like to play for fun and see even some of the unfunny commanders "go off"

I currently have a deck with this commander. Not budget but I have weponized the life gain and I love the deck. Exquisite blood and Vito make up the backbone of the deck.
I appreciate that the community has come around on stax decks. There used to be so much salt. I have rebuilt my Oloro into a enchantments matter creature stacks deck. Its fun, u get to be public enemy #1 until they kill you, then u get lunch :)
In my budget deck, I find Kozilek's Translator makes good use of Oloro's life-gain and his second ability. It combos well with Debt to the Deathless, as well.
been playing oloro since he came out in 2013 my very first commander and most busted and expensive one. I shifted from vintage to commander dropped all I could and just built oloro have tabernacle moat and the abyss to name a few things in the deck. my nickname given to me at the table is stalin because I've stalled the game for 11 hours before good times.
With Approach as a wincon I like to run Remand as a way to instantly put it back in my hand. Controlling as much as this deck remand is also pretty flexible
Having bought the Oloro pre-con a few years ago, I got a lot of non-budget cards that serve a good purpose, like Toxic Deluge (a Wrath for 2 and a black and you pay X life as an additional cost to have all creatures get -X/-X until end of turn, where X is the amount of life you paid to cast it). My Oloro deck focuses on mostly legendary spells like planeswalkers and a combo I have in there is Lich's Mastery + Shabraz the Skyshark. These cards basically says "You gain life ? You draw cards. You drew a card ? You gain life" and goes nearly infinite as you'll empty your entire deck. Because Lich's Mastery also makes it impossible to lose the game as long as it's on the battlefield, we get to keep playing after our deck is empty. From that combo, we have the choices : 1/ using Psychosis Crawler, Cliffhaven Vampire or Sanguine Bond to ping everyone to death with card draw or life gain respectively, 2/ Mill everyone with Psychic Corrosion, 3/ Slap everyone with a ~+80/+80 flying shark, Ajani's Pridemate, Bloodthirsty Aerialist and Twinblade Paladin. I should probably invest in a Dragon Throne of Tarkir just to enable Trample.
This is one of my favorite Commanders. I LOVE Esper decks! I made mine with a Vampire/Lifelink theme. This deck is RUDE and totally my style XD .... and yes.... I run Armageddon.... I'm sorry.
I've got an Oloro Commander Deck and mine has grown so non-budget over the years. My playgroup hates the Teferi/ Knowledge Pool combo, that's why I took it out... replacing it with a Duskmantle Guildmage/ Mindcrank combo is also budget and leads to less frustration in your opponents. Now I feel like building an alternative budget 99!
I’ve been running this commander as a half taxation deck and half life gain deck. I’ve put plenty of creatures that benefit from me just being alive and ways of protecting myself without being a complete and utter nuisance in the game, and I feel like I’ve hit a sweet spot of “this deck is fun to play and fun to play against, because it’s not to hard to beat and not hard to win.” ~quote form one of my friends who wanted to buy oloro
Out of all the deck tech's that I've seen (I've seen alooot haha), this has to be my favorite by far😍😍 I love how nasty yet wallet friendly this list is!😁👍
What is your second choice for bauble? Ideally in budget regards? ... and also how do you feel about renegade map type ramp? Pay 1 then turn two pay 1 again ... at least certain turn two ramp right? Or am I mistaken?
Drannith Magistrate also combos with Knowledge Pool, and it stops opponents from casting commanders, and it's easier to cast than Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir
Oloro is the deck I have invested the most money and time into. So I definitely feel some type of way about this decktech. However, I must say not a bad place if someone is starting off completely fresh.
I've been gone from MTG for a little bit so I haven't been watching as much but as soon as you said "Guardian Idol" I was like wait a min where is Bauble? Then you said "Sorry, Bauble." I completely lost it then xD great one liner!
my oloro deck is more lifegain focused (crested sunmare, ajani pridemate, down of hope etc). i prefer it that way, but might still switch random cards for some of the pillowfort cards from your deck. thanks for the great content as always
Hey Mitch. Would love if you’d take your best received budget decks into consideration each new set release, and do a sort of batch update for them in a video when each new set arrives. So we can all upkeep these builds together. I want to build a $50 Oloro deck, and need to consider some of the newer budget spells that are available since this was made. My playgroup is doing something neat now to make things casual and get a chance to make new decks at low cost, and get to run some spells that otherwise wouldn’t make the cut in our usual competitive builds. We’re doing basic lands only, no pure tutors (creatures that tutor are allowed, but no tutor-only spells), and a limit of 10 spells per mechanic. This seriously lowers obvious synergies and forces/allows us to be more creative. I wanted to build Selenia, but unfortunately she relies a bit much on tutors.
