My vehicle was written off in September, and I purchased this vehicle in Crystal White over the Thanksgiving Weekend. We finally got an update from Hyundai Canada saying it's being manufactured in February and we're almost 300 in priority. I cannot wait to get this vehicle. It's way more than we wanted to pay, but once we test drove the hybrid model (we were looking at a base model) we didn't want to go back. It is whisper quiet, and having the cameras to make lane changes is game changing when driving in the big city highways! It's about -48 with the windchill today, so the heated steering wheel is a must now and I cannot wait to drive this. I miss my little Corolla, but I've never owned a vehicle with leather heated seats and all of the other luxury features! I'm torn on having not ordered the Amazon Grey, but I'm happy with the white overall. Thanks for posting this review.
Wow, -48? Celsius I'm guessing since you appear to be in Canada? I was out working in -35 Fahrenheit for a whole day when I was much younger in Montana USA and with the wind chill was over -70 Fahrenheit, sorry for the rambling ;) but I just had to ask. Thanks for your post, good to hear your feedback from a Canada perspective. I'm currently in Michigan USA (lower around Detroit), so we never quite get that temp. Thank God. ;)
Dont complain: the volume you can adjust by the knob on the steering wheel. And the piano black panel, clean it once a week with a cloth and it is beautiful clean again. The whole inside is of a high standard
Why do all the car reviewers whine & complain about the lack of a volume knob?! The steering wheel controls are so much better. FYI the passenger has no business playing with my radio controls. 🤨
Regarding over-the-air updates, in fairness, I updated my Tucson's system the other day. It was a *20GB* download. Just the installation process alone from a thumb drive took 20-30 minutes. Downloading updates that large OTA would take... quite a while.
I’m ordering my 2023 ultimate tomorrow. 2022 hybrids have sold out and it’s only March! I don’t expect it until next spring 🥲. It will give me time to save up. I have wasn’t planning on buying a hybrid but the gas is expected to hit $2 a litre soon so this affected my decision to go PHEV
I would also like to add, when it comes to the Haptic Touch buttons, can one not just hold you finger down? Do you actually have to continually tap on the button? There is the volume control on the steering wheel as well.
Bear in mind, though, that all climate functions are controlled via touch, too. That's the bigger issue here (though the steering wheel controls do nothing for the passenger). Cheers!
Great review but I do feel that it’s a slightly OTT beat up of the volume/climate controls, I did agree with G Ad that the touchscreen controls for climate/volume are really not that difficult for a passenger. I’m now in the Tucson coming from a Mazda CX 5.. I loved my Mazda and I’m loving the Tucson even more. I was worried about the touch controls slightly, but honestly the small fan speed buttons in the Mazda alongside all the other small buttons for heated rear window etc were not that much easier to press while you’re driving - I would have to take eyes off the road briefly to make sure I was pressing the right button- and I think that in many cars with buttons - often the buttons are quite small and low down. There is no denying scrolling a wheel is great for the climate control, but the climate temp ‘button’ (area on touchpad!) is so close to the centre console I have actually found after a few weeks driving around I now don’t need to look away from the road if I need to adjust the temperature. Heated seat button is also very conveniently placed and doesn’t need searching for. For me personally for years now I only ever adjust radio stations/tracks and volume from the steering wheel, right at my fingertips and don’t need to think about it, this works very well on the Tucson. I don’t bother much with voice control, but I do tend to use Apple CarPlay and find the voice control works very well on that for putting in satnav etc so in reality I don’t touch the touchscreen very much - although when I do I find it responsive and it looks smart However as I said I think this is a great review, very fair very balanced, maybe just a little bit harsh on the volume/ac controls, but it seems that every professional reviewer has the same problem so it must only be me that doesn’t really have a problem. I did try a couple of cars where the AC controls were actually through the touchscreen, and I did find that frustrating, at least in this model once you’ve jabbed at the right part of the dashboard you’ve instantly got control… (For instance the Kia has dials but you have to jab at a touchscreen before you can access the dials- I found that a bit annoying on a test drive, and the same with a Peugeot 3008 which is a shame as I think that’s a lovely interior in every other respect) Totally agree it’s a shame there’s no heads up display, that’s one thing I miss from my Mazda - and the Kia Sportage has a great HUD.. as for over the air updates, it hasn’t been an issue for me but luckily I’m so close to my local Hyundai dealer I don’t think it would become one. As for the ride and handling I am super impressed, my master has a great handling with a slightly firm ride, I feel like I have hardly sacrificed any of the handling but have a quieter smoother ride and the car is much more peppy (I have the hybrid ultimate model) Thanks again for all the reviews
guys, this car takes months to get, so all these great reviews are helping sort out these issues, .. I love It. I ordered my ultimate today, can't wait, but I will.
Get in line Gary! I want mine first! ; ) I ordered a PHEV earlier this month, so maybe you'll get your sooner. Darn! Big thanks to AutoTrader Canada for this review. Most videos and information about the new Tucson still comes from other countries. I am glad more and more content is being produced in Canada. Thanks!
I agree @@thearoom Peter @ Kia Hyundai Channel has great content and he mentioned something that I think makes a lot of sense: Reviewers complain about lack of knobs because they are testing different cars and touch screens require a bit more learning, but once a person owns the car, they'll get used to it in a matter of minutes, hours, or days. I was OK with it the moment I sat on a demo. Besides, it fits the rest of the look of the car being somewhat minimalist and futuristic.
I purchased this 2022 Tucson hybrid ultimate and I already received a letter notification regarding C0448 called SERVICE CAMPAIGN in a nice way, it's better than RECALL issue. I'm so disappointed that Canadian version Hybrid did not include the ISG button feature while countries are included in Tucson Hybrid model.
Everyone complains about the the touch controls, but those controls are just on the top trim levels. Lower trim levels have switches and knobs…and analog gauges with a hood over them.
Which is one of the reasons I ordered the top trim. People who prefer physical buttons are just a bit conservative. And the hood? Yikes, it’s ugly. The disllay is perfectly readable even in full sunlight. Do you prefer a shift stick as well? Ever tried shift by wire? Conservative dino!
Actually, you can get Split-Screen in Apple CarPlay. The weird part is, you have to enable it in Device Connections (not the Display | Split screen area). And once you do, you can't just tap the inward- or outward-pointing triangle to show/hide the split screen ... you have to go back to the Device Connections setup to toggle its visibility. Yep, I'm an iPhone user with one of these cars and it was non-trivial to figure all that out!
Wow, that’s very interesting! Thanks for adding this to the conversation! Split-screen was enabled using CarPlay in the Elantra when I reviewed it, so I thought it was interesting and maybe just an update that had come out since that made it no longer work.
I was in two minds between this and the sporty n line hybrid and the n line wins for me hands down. Could not justify the extra two grand to have ventilated seats. Plus the n line looks way better 😉
@@dexterstanley4185 Not to my knowledge - nor would I call the N Line “sporty.” It certainly looks good, but the suspension, powertrain, etc. is the same as the other trims with the 2.5L engine…
somebody tell him theres a simple button on steering wheel that takes you easily through all your favorite stations or just use voice and say the station even if radio's off it will turn on ,its very cool and i put a $13 screen protector on the 10.25" display and it hardly gets any dust on it Ever, but simple to clean with one swipe if it does.
“Him” here! I *sort of* get where you’re coming from, but there are some other considerations at play, too. First, that does nothing to address the climate control issues. On top of that, some people - myself included - prefer to use console controls over ones on the steering wheel. And either way, that doesn’t solve the problem of using the controls from the passenger seat, nor does it address the issues of dust and fingerprints on the control panel beneath the touchscreen. I have no issue with the touchscreen itself; I wouldn’t even bother with a screen protector. It’s the bank of touch controls beneath it that are problematic. Cheers!
@@danilika9420 Climate control can also be adjusted by a voice command easily, but if passenger wants to change climate its very simple for them and fast, and its much easier to use the steering wheel controls than any other way to control radio, you dont have to reach down again to find a knob or button .Obviously you did have a problem with the touchscreen itself you whined about the dust and figerprints, telling you the simple screen protector fixed both those things, when you own this car you would find out how very easy to use this car is :)
