The car he was living in is a 1951 Nash Ambassador. The front seats folded down to connect to the backseat so you could stop to rest comfortably on long drives.
My favorite scene! Because of this, I actually told my girlfriends dad in high school that I wanted to live in the back of a car in an alley way for a year, just to experience "life". Haha! We stopped dating shortly after... You can't blame him. Hah! I doubt he saw this movie. ;)
