THE IRON GIANT! '67 BIG BLOCK BEL AIR STATION WAGON! STREET OR STRIP! BYRON DRAGWAY!

- For 1967, full-sized Chevrolets featured a new body with bulging rear fenders, triple taillights, part of that year's styling trends. Bel Air 2 and 4-door Sedans continued, in addition to 6 and 9-passenger wagons. Most came with the Small-Block V-8 283, although the big block 396 and 427's were optional and quite rare indeed. It's also rare to see these family wagons around town, let alone at the dragstrip.
Check out this one, equipped with a naturally aspirated, big block 496 ci engine and weighing in at a hefty 5500lbs. Watch as it runs a best of 11.66, although the owner claims a best time of 9.30 @145mph. Could you imagine how sketchy that would be, watching how that stock suspension gets all twisted running 11's? #chevy #dragrace #stationwagon - Авто та транспорт
That's my dad!!! The iron giant has been around since before I was even born he loves that car to death. You can occasionally find him at Byron, Union Grove, and Automotion in the Wisconsin Dells!
Awesome! I was mad I didn't ask him his name. I was up there concentrating on the diesels and the wagon caught my eye cuz I had a '67 years ago. He's a cool guy and bet a great dad too!
@@RACEYOURRIDE if you wanna get a hold of him his name is Robert Rivera!
This is a true beast. The motor says it all. Badass
This was faster than my big block 67 Chevelle! Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome!👍
Only in Wisconsin can you have a grocery getter running 11's in the quarter mile! 😂😂
Thanks for the timer!!!
You bet I HATE no time!
My friend used to run a '74 500 cu supercharged chevy wagon here in NY , ran ten flats best, lots of turbo 400 problems with that much weight against a thousand hp. Mike
Would have loved to see it! 👍
@@RACEYOURRIDEI have looked for pics to no avail. Dave was a racer not a car show guy (it was back in the early 2000s) at NY international and Lancaster raceway park here in WNY. Just like the car you feature- it would lift the front wheels on launch.
500 cu big block, 871 blower, race gas and 14# or so boost. 31 spline 9" rear axle and reworked turbo 400.
❤ grüsse aus Deutschland, looks great😊
Hello 👋 Thanks!
Nice👍💪🔥
I think that was my Dad's family car when we were young. He never drove that car like that!
Sub ten seconds with stock suspension and drum brakes all around? I sure hope the roll cage and safety harness are from this century...and your life insurance is up to date.
How bout it sketchy af right! 👍
Love it my first car 67 impala wagon 327
I had a '67 wagon too. Bought it off an older gentleman wish I had kept it. 👍
Cool car . Glad to see you are still posting full length videos . I like your " Shorts " , but still like your longer versions better . Keep em coming !
Thanks! Yeah I need to get back to doing more full length ones. They take quite some time to edit, as I tend to get carried away sometimes. Shorts are quick n easy but frustrating because you can't choose a thumbnail. Stay tuned got a rare '70 GTX HEMI full length coming.
@@RACEYOURRIDE Thanks for all you do , we really do appreciate the effort you put into ALL of your videos . The pride you put into your work always shows !
@@1961stevea Thanks again!👊
Love the car .
But isn't the parachute a little wishful thinking ?
And that's coming from someone with a 4 barrel carb sticking through the hood of an 89 3cly Geo Metro.
😂
Yeah I thought so too but he claims it ran 9's and with that stock suspension they might come in handy.
It's not he's used them on more than one occasion
0:16 drum brakes all around, stock suspension (can't hurt).🙂
