Where do these fans of this most underrated band in world rock history come from? Who likes Concrete Blonde transcends in life and becomes a more evolved person. There are many guitar riffs, vocals, the most perfect and powerful melodies I've ever heard in 46 years of life. I'm a big fan of many bands, mainly Australian surf bands but Concrete Blonde is an inexplicable thing that happens to my heart and feelings. It seems that I already heard these songs, in a parallel reality, before hearing them for the first time in 1991. It was, is and will always be my heart band. They say that Johnette Napolitano is coming to Brazil in September. I still don't believe it. 🏄🏼♂️🏄🏾♀️🏄🏽🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼❤️❤️❤
When you look at the fluff in the charts in 1989, Janet Jackson, Milli Vanilli, Paula Abdul- you realise what a travesty that this band were more or less ignored.
I've always considered Johnette to be a poet....she's way beyond a song writer...and Jim's guitar fits her mood and voice... They were a great band and overlooked by most people.....I feel lucky to be a fan....they are fantastic! C.B. is one of those bands that will be with me for life.....I wish that they would've had the success they deserve!!!
Only 7 comments on this video in the last year - that kind of underlines what most of them have been saying: A criminally under-appreciated band. If you look at her whole body of work honestly; in terms of power, range, pitch, phrasing, breath control and range of expression, hers is the best voice in the history of Rock & Roll. No one plays with the class & style Jim Mankey yet he never gets a mention. If you love this music support it, buy their stuff.
Just like me. I don't know if you've seen them live, but Miss Napolitano was a powerthouse. I can't fathom how one human being can evoke so much emotion…
I love Johnette. Such a great talent. I saw them in a small club in RI on the Mexican Moon tour. Still one of the greatest shows that I have ever seen. She left it all on the stage that night! I miss this band.
Started listening to Concrete Blonde back in 1990 because it was cool for surfers to do that. But it actually turned out to be a helluva band. 32 years on, and here I am at it again.
Concrete Blonde was so underated. I was a kid when this was released, but I grew up in a household where music was a big deal. Even as a kid, I loved bands like Concrete Blonde and Jane's Addiction. Johnette is an amazing vocalist. This was one of my favorite CB songs ever. It's so melodic and laid back. Just a timeless arrangement.
I've loved Johnette since '86! I can't remember if this was from 21 Jump Street or Booker, but Richard Grieco cruising on a bike to this song was pretty awesome. They also used God Is A Bullet to great effect.
This whole album is a masterpiece. I was 8 when it came out and bought the tape Bloodletting for mum and we'd play it on long car rides. Johnette has the sexiest voice and that along with James's guitar style are hypnotic.
Wow - never heard this song until just now ... LOVE IT !! Played it like 5 or 10 times, grabbed a guitar, its mostly a C -chord, and a G-F thrown in ... but its the VOCALS that put it all together !! Wow Johnette !!
My best friend in Junior High school was IN LOVE with Christian Slater in the late 80's, early 90's. He was in Pump Up the Volume and it is bc of that movie that we discovered C.B. That movie's soundtrack is so iconic for me bc of the song "Everybody Knows". How is it that C.B. didn't blow the f*** up after that? My best friend and I were only 12 yrs old and after one time of hearing 'Everybody Knows' we were instant fans for life.
Yes, “Everybody Knows” (a Leonard Cohen cover) was one of the highlights of that soundtrack, along with Sonic Youth’s blistering “Titanium Exposé” and Above The Law’s “Freedom Of Speech.”
My eyes are jaded and complicated, Tired of the liars and the masqueraded Who steals our innocence away, Like a thief in the night? Who took away our faith in what we know to be right? That was another world, then That was another time You can never go back to the scene of a perfect crime. Whatever became of the child I was I never want to lose her no I won't give her up And now my heart is harder, My skin is getting tougher and tougher That was another world then That was another time You can never go back to the place where love is blind You can never go back to the scene of a perfect crime Whatever became of our sweet blind love As long as we could be together it was more than enough Now we're all grown up and we need so much I never knew that the price would go up as such That was another world then, then That was another time Well you can never go back to the place where love is blind. Well you can never go back to the place where love is blind. Well you can never go back to the place where love is blind. You can never go back to the scene of a perfect crime. Evokes so much emotion.... Love You Forever! Songwriters: Johnette Lin Napolitano
Hey man, thanks for puttin' up the lyrics. I've been a huge fan of Johnette and Concrete Blonde since I heard "True" on Toronto radio in 1986! I can tell you have great taste also. Peace!
Many time U-Tber afficianado of Concrete Blonde, this gem took years to fully sink in. This retro vid keeps me from scrolling down to see other comments. So friggin' good!
I agree with you there mate. not many musicians out there that you can say oh thats such and such just by listening to the way they play. but mankey is in a class by himself. up there with uli and hendrix in my humble opinion. and johnette... now thats a women. cheers

one of the things i always respected about james mankey was the fact that he stayed with the same effect because that was HIS trademark. johnette has such an amazing voice, and she's fucking hot!!!!!
Mankey obviously kept it about the music. He probably could have lead guitar on any one of 50 top bands but he stuck with CB. Dont get me wrong CB are an epic band but he could have gone after the cash and fame if he wanted
The true shame here...this band never got any serious radio play until Joey & Death of a Texas Ladies Man was out...an absolute joke! One of the best live bands ever...johnette, James and company deserve better.

Hands down best guitar tone ever...Jim is the best!!!!
One of the most perfect songs ever written.
Johnette truly uses her voice so masterfully as an instrument.
The most underrated female singer
Most indeedy…
She sounds natural.
She’s amazing!
And absolutely the most underrated lyricist ever.
I cry when I hear her beautiful voice. I can't contain composer.
Hands down the most incredibly badass female rock vocalist of all! When you've seen them 5times like me, you surely would not disagree 🙃🤯😱😭😁
god her voice, that guitar solo this song is just perfect
Absolutely LOVE this band !!! Sooo underrated & people that never heard of them ! I continue to spread the word...

I saw them in concert years ago. She sat the mic down and blasted us with her natural power. It was amazing. Excellent concert.
Johnette and James were/are dangerous.
They could/can evoke pure raw emotion at will.
A huge fan since the killer debut in 86.
Just like me. I don't know if you've seen them live, but Miss Napolitano was a powerthouse. I can't fathom how one human being can evoke so much emotion…
@@pateris Absolutely!
I was lucky enough to have even heard of this group when i was younger, and they will always be one of my favorite bands!!
I love Johnette. Such a great talent. I saw them in a small club in RI on the Mexican Moon tour. Still one of the greatest shows that I have ever seen. She left it all on the stage that night! I miss this band.
So much talent here, doesn't get any better.

saw them live - they were stunning, massive widescreen sound. Johnette all charisma.

The Most underrated band in the world
Still listening in 2020. Classic.
Great song I don't think I ever heard it on the local crap radio stations
This band just keeps getting better and better....
Just like good wine. :-)

Thank you. I've changed a lot, but I guess their music will stay with me until I reach room temperature…
saw her in Cleveland at.the Agora, small venue. one of the best shows.I've ever heard.
She reminds me a lot of Siouxsie Sioux.. Dark, haunting music & strong vocals.. My kind of singer..
What are a couple songs by her that you would suggest?
Has a Danzig touch to her as well
This song...every damn time...brilliant...
Jeg elsker dette bandet så mye
Concrete Blonde deserved recognition for their contribution of the Rock n`Roll
Many time U-Tber afficianado of Concrete Blonde, this gem took years to fully sink in. This retro vid keeps me from scrolling down to see other comments. So friggin' good!
I'm not normally a fan of the whammy bar, but that solo is tasteful and amazing
Fantastic song, fantastic band, so under appreciated that it makes me want to scream at anyone spending money on music from "pop tarts"....
This is a soundtrack from a surf movie called Billabong Pump. Perfect waves peeling off and good surfing rocking.
1989 CONCRETE BLONDE

CONCRETE BLONDE.
Great song, awesome solo.
loved this band then, love it now.......
I also loved this band.... then & now.
When will then be now?
That’s not an uncommon phenomenon. People very rarely just stop liking their favorite music because they’ve turned a certain age.
Amazing, amazing...
Amazing Voice!
Timeless sick haunting long forgotten but the angels cry
Better in this time than long ago
It's beyond what you feel
This one proves that CB's deep cuts were just as good as their singles (i.e.: "Joey"; "Caroline"; "Mexican Moon"; etc.)!
I love this.
Perfect !
Johnette rules.Amazing song
one of the things i always respected about james mankey was the fact that he stayed with the same effect because that was HIS trademark.

bia0, we have a lot in common I should think...

This is Billie Joe McCallister Jumped off the Tallahachee Bridge on steroids!
Damn I wish she would seek Nashville.
