They did their best work together, collaborating. And to take sides regarding endless disagreements is a waste of time. Any Pink Floyd fan will tell you, it's a sad ending to one of the great bands in music history.
21:19 I just went to his concert in Rome 10 days ago (Oct 2, 2024). He played Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb and Time. And it was magical.
Pink Floyd's greatest work was done when they were all together. I'm not going down the finger pointing path it's pointless.
Good observation. The clear fact is, they did their best work together, collaborating. And to take sides regarding endless disagreements is a waste of time. Any Pink Floyd fan will tell you, it's a sad ending to one of the greatest bands in music history.
Waters and Gilmour would almost certainly be nothing without each other. If they had to start from scratch knowing what they could become....I wonder how they would proceed.
Not much news here.
David and Roger clashed in the studio but onstage they meshed heavenly.
Waters is clearly a nutcase, hes leaving the band so lets shut it down..... instead of just leaving on good terms, clearly a control freak.
THANKS FOR EVERYONE, to be part of the history - ALL IS SAID !
I’m sorry but Waters quit the band, went as far as putting it to paper. There’s some actions that you don’t come back from. You can’t complain about them not letting you use the website when it was you who thought the band couldn’t go on since you weren’t going to be in it and did everything in your power to make sure it didn’t.
AGREED!!!
Bravo!
"Formative psychedelic phase?" Pink Floyd was always psychedelic. A Gilmour guitar solo is pure LSD, converted to sound.
A clash of egos
I think this was confirmed when David was more like 38. Do keep up with the news... Last I heard, he's fed up with people asking the same boring old questions they've been asking the 40 odd years.
Politiclaly, always with Roger Waters for ever!!!
Absolutely! That's what the definition of politically correct should mean!
Dave and Roger are to Floyd what Paul and John were to the Beatles. One is a musical and instrumental wizard while the other in a content and lyrical artist. They compliment each other and when combined, ICONIC music, TIMELESS art and a LEGENDARY band is the result! They NEED each other...even if there's nothing but hate left between them.
A bit pointless now. There can NEVER be a true Pink Floyd "reunion". THAT ship sailed a long time ago when the INCOMPARABLE Rick Wright sadly passed away.
I never knew that when Dave Gilmour was young he looked like the Karate Kid
Totally
WE LOVE YOU DAVID GILMOUR 🎸💕🎸🎸
From the Wall on their music sounded depressed.
No Waters = No Pink Floyd
No Gilmour = No Pink Floyd
No Right No = Pink Floyd
No Mason No = Pink Floyd
Waters is fearless and a driving force! It is a shame David couldn’t handle the ride
21:12 You might've used the wrong examples here, 'Comfortably Numb' and 'Wish You Were Here' are on the setlist of the Luck & Strange Tour.
Thank you for pointing that out. This video released a day ago obvs. didn't look at the set list.
Waters is a top tier song writer. Low level vocalist and so so bassist. Man's gotta know his limitations.
They sure jumped over Ginger in a hurry. Who put this video together, Polly?
IMO Waters was a problem. And they have not needed him for decades.
Just a rehash of others material
wow, so much history, plus current-day feuds. So sad they spoiled an opportunity to make great art together again.
seems like these two guys are one long conversation from working together, too bad for the whole word that it hasn't yet happened.
Waters unfortunately became more and more a politician obsessed with his radical and biased opinions I cannot share any more. The quality of his solo music got worse and worse.
He's a Jew hater plain and simple
What Polly said is the truth about Rogers. Rogers left a group and then turn around and try to control the group when he's not there I read he even fired his son that's a musician and he doesn't have a wife anymore so it's definitely something wrong with him
I'm 59, if David Gilmore hadn't joined PF, people my age and younger would not no anything about Pink Floyd
Sorry Rog, David is Pink Floyd
@@kerrynixon3968
You are right about that because they music in the 60s wasn't that hot until David came aboard
I think it's a bit pathetic that David has to have his wife write his lyrics. Name another wife that is not part of the group who does that.
Obviously she is the lyricist, and therefor a part of the enterprise. Don't be daft. @@jayt4465
I love Pink Floyd, but I think I just lost respect for all of them
Using the Ralph Maccio Crossroads footage is...an abomination 😂
Poly Sampson, another wife of a rock star trying to insinuate herself into the bands legacy and material.
This is something that is rarely talked about: she appears everywhere, in every video, in every photo, in interviews... it seems that Gilmour always needs her by his side, not only to write bad lyrics to his songs... on social networks when a photo taken by her appears it even comes with the phrase 'courtesy of Polly Samson'? This whole thing is quite comical.
She is David's Yoko Ono.
@@sharonrichards1627 SOUNDS LIKE SOMEBODY IS JEALOUS 😂

Finally somebody speaking up 🩷🎸
Did you write your comment on acid?
@@ericbitzer5247
It looks like his English was broken look like he was trying to say David Gilmour is a genius behind Pink Floyd music 🎶 he taught Rogers Bass
That's what it looked like it reads to me
@@sharonhaywood2818 I kinda got what he was trying to say, but wow! Thanks for the reply.
Gilmour has no right to say anything. Waters was creative and leading genius behind Pink Floyd form departure of Sid Barrett until he proclaimed the end of Pink Floyd. And nothing after that was noticeable, nothing was good enough to be called Pink Floyd. It was private Gilmour's band where he was soloing forever, while other two were there only because of money, just like Gilmour. But without Waters and his work on Pink Floyd music, Gilmour will be selling shoes the rest of his life. And Waters had proclaimed Pink Floyd when it became dead.
Finally a proper comment
You can take sides about this or that over the years, but when it comes to Gilmour saying Waters was a dictator in the late 1970s, the fact is that Roger repeatedly asked the guys for song contributions and got very little back. Just like McCartney taking control in the studio with the Beatles, if Roger didn't, then nothing would have gotten done.
@bluemoon-20 Absolutely! No ideas, They said Waters they need more time to create
@HugoRJ And who was the source of this information about Roger asking the other band members for songs or ideas for the albums? The band members themselves, especially Gilmour. The fact is, Richard Wright basically disappeared on "vacation" for months when the band needed them to work together in the late 1970s. It led to Wright being fired from the group and then later being "hired" to tour in support of the Wall.
And Gilmour? While he had talent for writing music, he had no talent whatsoever for lyrics. As Roger once said, "You're either born with songwriting talent or you're not ".
Gilmour is a better guy than Waters but he is in the wrong. He was not even an original member. Geniuses often are a-holes and it goes with the territory. Gilmour, Mason and Wright were lazy and Waters was very motivated. These guys needed to accept Waters for what he was because they were nothing without him. Waters needed them as well but he was the glue.
Nothing really new. Waters need to find direction.
Direction? Have you seen his shows since 2010?
Thank you for the insight and detail.
Sadly very sadly god gave humans talent …. And an egocentric idiosyncrasies.
Ego brings down both
but the fantasy that “I AM RIGHT” will always prevail.
Acceptance is the key however
Easier said than done
That’s the way the human brain is
It takes just a spark in the billion nerves to apologise
The Dark Side of the Brain

All musicians have an ego. I know, I am one. You kind of need to use it especially on a stage in front of a lot of people.I think young people don't realize that you can shut it off when the music is over.
All David Gilmour was trying to do was keep the name Pink Floyd alive because it is definitely a BADASS BAND!!!! If Rodger left in 1985 why does he keep sticking his hand in and out of the band. Not only that he ought to be glad that the two African-American men that he took the name from family is not suing him because it's obvious and it was on UA-cam how he admit what he got the names from. Rodger thought that if he leave the van that it will dismantle but they kept going without him and I'm glad. I believe Mason's kept quiet because he don't want to get in their mess, in all Rodgers has to do is go on with his life he chose to leave.
Roger didn’t come up with the name. Syd did
@@larryoneill7432
Rogers use it as well
There are Thousands of bass players a lot better than Rick. Try to find a better guitarist than David, good luck!
RW gay politics is what did it... rockstars need to stick to making music.
"Gay politics"? Are you sure about that? How about, Roger Waters is the only one who remained true to Pink Floyd's beliefs.
Hush
I dont know why people complained about Roger's "politics" like did you even listen to Pink Floyd's songs?
He's totally correct politically. Glad he's got the balls to speak the truth while most musicians suck up to their money masters.
